Decades ago (late 70s - mid 80s), I remember designing and building custom synth and sequencer devices, from scratch . . . actual discrete components and a very few interesting analog function modules and ICs available at the time. Now, this is everywhere, low cost mass produced, people casually walking by at a trade show packed with this sort of gear. Back in ancient times, creating any type of sound like this was a "big deal", going to user group meetings to demonstrate latest hand built devices and all that.
Great jam and performance. Kudos to the guy playing because it takes time and dedication to master interface workflows like this
At 5:00 I really like seeing how the pads in the sequence all light up, but one of my favorite things about the beatstep pro is lighting up step pads and using the knobs to alter notes on the fly, sometimes at random in a set scale. I wonder how that would work on here and if that sort of functionality is built in.

it is!!!
I'm getting Frank Klepaki Command and Conquer vibes from this jam - impressive controller!
Nice set up.
Hi does anyone know if I can use the MIDI IN to connect a pad controller just to control modular drum voices using the gate outs and sequencer of the Keystep Pro? Specifically could I connect my Roland SP303 to do this?
Nice. I would of liked to see you change pattern while the sequencer was running

That's my problem with devices like this, they seem to keep you confined to a loop with the same ideas, I have no interest in creating a song with the same 2 notes in the bass for most of it.

@@soundofmai That's why even with this ams the new launchpad pro mk3, I stick with my novation circuit. It's simple and changes patterns quickly

@@soundofmai Actually the white numbers you see are the pattern numbers which you can change with the buttons underneath, and I'm pretty sure they added a "select mode" to use with the keyboard so you can go from #1 to #5 for ex without having to click the button 5 times, and hopefully doing it with the 3 sequencers at once. It's not as obvious as with a APC 40 (ableton users) or Nova Circuit of course. But still. Though, it would have been great to have it demonstrated here indeed.
Cam you do a video with Keystep pro connected to Beatstep pro that would be great to see
Does anybody know if this beautiful controller has a digital tempo?

It does indeed - adjustable on the little screen.
Nice. What's that modular synth above it?
please tell us more about the sound sources. Where are the drums coming from?

in another video he said the drums come from the computer
What is the name of modular system.
Need the inevitable black version to not clash with my gear.

Keystep is running an ARP on it.
What ist a Modular System ?
For $449 I'll just buy another Keystep. Thing looks like it was designed to induce epileptic seizures

The flickering is introduced by the camera FPS in combination with the LED PWM. It is not like that normally. If that is what youre referring to ?
