This is incredibly useful - I am late to the party but I just got a used Circuit last week. I am finding it to be a very powerful device - much more than I expected. This is just icing on the cake. Thank you for posting this.

Great explanation! These two, Keystep and Circuit, are a super combo: 1 + 1 > 2

Really cool tutorials. I watched all 3 and they're full of great info for anyone just getting into it and need a good foundation for exploring electronic music. The Circuit is a well rounded instrument and great for noobs and vets alike. I love that little groovebox lol. Have fun!!!

Bravo Sir, you've just confirmed my next order from one of the big European Online Stores for both units. The combination of the Keystep and Circuit is very powerful and an equivalent capability would cost multiples nevermind complexity. A BeatStep Pro would get close but again recording the sequences via rotary knob is fiddly, octave restricted and no reference sound engine good enough in its own right. Besides I already have a first gen Beatstep plus a Microbrute for CV out to other mod gear but what's missing is the integration of bass drums and pad. Once again thanks for posting this vid. (PS I've thrown my iPad and Laptop in the bin....can't deal with audio dropouts or latency anymore).

Thank you, Sir! Great tutorial. I have difficult to do perfect sequences with Arturia Keystep. I can´t do perfect pause between chords or mine Keystep came broken...

Nice video. How did you get the Keystep to Sync with the Circuit? I've just ordered a Keystep, but with my current controller I have MIDI out from controller to Circuit (Tracks), so I have to time things just right as I have record quantize off to get two notes per step.... BTW what is arp setting on the Circuit? Is it the same as record-quantize off or something else? You mention it around 01:05, but I can't see you pressing anything...

Hi, good tutorial series! I have a circuit and bastl softpop. Do you know if the keystep sequences can be sent out of midi (to circuit) and cv (to softpop) at the same time or is it one or the other? I fancy making pre made sequences on my circuit, then using the keystep to add ‘sequence jams’ on the fly, using the overwrite functions.

Hey I'm gonna answer this in case anyone see it and is curious. The circuit does not have 2 midi outs. I think this can be done with a midi splitter though.

Does the circuit reorganise the received notes from Arturia in a predefined scale on it?

  • @Jimantronic

It does, yes. It'll respect whatever scale setting you have on the circuit. If you press a note on the keystep that's not in the circuit scale, it will bump it to the next note that fits the scale

How does someone with no experience get the Arturia keystep to work in Windows 10....Not a single video on youtube to show how this installs and works in windows. Right now I have a $118 paper weight. The users manual is useless unless your an experienced user. I just want to make some noise...Why things have to be so difficult? This should be plug and play or step by step instructions on getting this to work in windows....Any help or a video on the subject would be helpful....thanks in advance.
