Tacheles Reden elemayo!😂I'm dying, that's so true. Synth snobs are never satisfied, they can always find something wrong with everything. I'm thankful a mixer is ALL that it needs. There's so much this drum machine can do and it's beautiful. From what I can hear, it has its own distinct character and personality, sounds amazing and looks fantastic at that. just ordered one Friday and it's coming this week. I'm no professional, I only own a BOSS DR-5 and an Alesis SR-16 that I've used since '99 and can already tell that I'm going to have a blast with this thing and haven't even touched it yet. this will be my first true analogue drum machine and seems like a great start and true companion for my minilogue. can't wait to jump in and just grind out with it.

The nice thing about this is that if you want to take just one or two sounds on individual outs you can, it removes them from the main mix so you still have the main mix handling the rest of the sounds, you don't have to use all the individual outs just to get one or two of them like you do on some drum machines.

the trick with analog bar like this one is realy to use a compressor a gate and a lot of flanger and phaser or delay effect to make this beast rush !!! that's why people think it's limited even the sampler and the fm generator of a Sega Megadrive can be used on stage with an preprogrammed defelmask track on a everdrive sd cartridge. rule number one in electronic music nothing is limited as long as you know how to use your gear in the best way possible, to make real music.

I love your videos! Always a pleasure. How did you synch the microbrute and the drumbrute and keep the sequence playing? Also, are you controlling the amount of effects (delay, reverb) on the mixer? For instance, can you mix in reverb only on high hat and snare and keep it off everything else or is it being run through the master?

Awesome! Can I ask what you think about your Presonus mixer? I need a new relatively affordable 24(ish) channel mixer. I have been really disappointed by budget mixers. Mackie and Beringer just suck! I need something that will last and is pretty clean. So is there a reason to choose Presonus over Allen Heath? Of do you recommend another brand? Sorry to ask such a long winded question but i don't know who else to ask 😊
@SourceDistributionTV
7 жыл бұрын
The Presonus AR range is very very good - simple/easy to use (I didn't need to read the manual!) but mainly the inclusion of the SD card recorder is an amazing touch, for the kind of thing I'm doing here, you can just hit record and capture your jams in real time straight off the desk...no computer required! But of course you can turn it into a multi-track interface if you do plug it into a computer...

Come on, Tempest is a competely different thing, it's got a full blown analog bass synth in there, not to mention that the overall sound of the machine is far superior. I probably won't be able to afford a Tempest anytime soon but I would be all over it if I could, while this, even at a quarter of the price, seems unreasonable. It's got the classic analog drum sound, sure, but it lacks character and grit, while the Tempest is fresh and capable of some futuristic stuff.
@theinternetseekers2436
7 жыл бұрын
The Tempest is on another level compared to this. This is great little drum machine for the price its pretty amazing, but sonically the Tempest is on another level, also the range of sounds available on the tempest is FAR superior as are the filters and effects, plus the tempest has a synth on it as well, tempest has 800+ samples that are tweakable in many ways, the drumbrute has 17 sounds that are tweakable in a few ways, the difference is huge. Drumbrute Vs RogerLinn (original drumachine creator whos Linn samplebank used for those original machines sells for thousands still) and Dave Smith (Creator of some of the most outstanding synths ever made) colabaration drum machine that pushes the boundaries of what a drum machine can do, well, you kinda get what you pay for in audiogear :)

Can the DrumBrute sequence external gear? It seems like it can at least trigger an arp, but I can't tell if you can actually program in patterns of notes for another synthesizer.
@SourceDistributionTV
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, each pad/channel (17 of them) sends MIDI notes (you can change which notes with the software editor) so you could use it to trigger-sequence something else (software/hardware)!
@LtSalts
7 жыл бұрын
Do you know if it would be possible to use an external keyboard to send note data midi in to the DrumBrute, Drumbrute records it, and Drumbrute sends that out to whatever synth?
@SourceDistributionTV
7 жыл бұрын
LtSalts I don't think so no, but you _can_ change what MIDI notes the pads send on, so in a funny way you could 'tune' the pads to a scale and send that to a synth, and it would play a melody

That's the thing with modern analog stuff... guess it's because the target audience are people who mystify analog circuits and revere them as something unreplicable, and these factories probably did the research and found that they don't plan to use MIDI automation, they probably actually want to have knobs directly attached to potentiometers or variable capacitors or whatever. It should be easy to add say servo-motors on knobs that would twist them to automation curves but then these ppl would probably whine that it's not analog enough. On the other hand, if you're a practical guy who wants to have automation recorded (while making a track, for example), you're probably practical enough to realize that all-digital software plugins deliver pretty much as good as this thing, so we should leave it to analog reverents.
@kulkulan223
7 жыл бұрын
Martin Jovanović its not that sophisticated to have analog knobs with digital data specially if it already has MIDI. My Tanzbar does it and so does my Minitaur and both are as analog as it can be. This unit also seems to be a lot more sophisticated than both of those. Tanzbar sounds amazing but build and sequencer quality is depressingly shit and Minitaur is extremely basic beautifully sounding and also completely digitally controllable. As much as I love the Drumbrute it is a shame if they left that out even for future implementation.

Fantastic run through on this piece. Cheers.
No matter how hard I try, I can't get all this butter out of my ears
excellent review. And some fantastic beat writing too! Keep it up. cheers
Nice jam/demo. Seems fun to play.
Great demo and sounding instrument, this should hook up nicely (physically and sound) with the Matrixbrute...
i got to say, with this voice you can sell everything... and i am not talking about the machine
Just unloaded my 909 and bought me a drumbrute. Money in the bank and I'm happy happy happy !
Future Classic Nice work Arturia !
Great demo - thanks!
I was on the fence for buying this, but this video completely pushed me off of the fence. I have to have it now.
great Demo Mylar - you da man
i love how much fun he has
Brilliant demo, you came up with some really nice bits in there which convinces me this is a tweakers machine.
Such a beautifull machine,very hands on,I will buy one immediately.
What? No menu diving? ;) looks yummy, sounds very nice!
Sounds good enough, especially with the individual outputs its worth buying.
Great demo btw!
fantastic video thanks this thing would be perfect for my music I just love the sound and that price mann damn I just have to get it!
Sounds amazing
Honest question, besides analog, what can this do that a EMX1 can't do? Seems like a EMX1 is still more flexible with automation, and can make similar sound even though its VA.
really nice drum machine!
Great analog sound :)
It sounds different, but in a great way. I want it!
Nice machine , nice review !
Best demo ever !
sounds amazing
Okay okay....I will buy you....I knew they would be coming out with something soon...happy it's hardware
Bad ass! Great demo :)
Oh how I've wanted a machine like this since my rave-o-lution broke down... infkingcredible... :)
Nice demo, good machine and next owner. 0:39 Thx!
Amazing set of features for the price.
Great machine....!
the trick with analog bar like this one is realy to use a compressor a gate and a lot of flanger and phaser or delay effect to make this beast rush !!! that's why people think it's limited even the sampler and the fm generator of a Sega Megadrive can be used on stage with an preprogrammed defelmask track on a everdrive sd cartridge. rule number one in electronic music nothing is limited as long as you know how to use your gear in the best way possible, to make real music.
Thinking about buying this. I already have a MiniBrute. I am VERY new at this could you explain how to hook them up together/sync them? As much detail as possible please!
This sort of stuff is all new to me in the old days you just pressed a couple of presets and dun, these drum machines look more like excesses for finger puppets, I have all ways been mad on synths old and new I just need somewhere to start, any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
i like arturia more and more
It grooves!
I will still have to test it out myself, once i have the chance....
I have a Roland System 8 ... need a drum machine with it. Should I choose Roland TR-8 or this one?
Very good video! Big Up
Never heard of this, must be brandnew... ;-) Anyway, I like the Indivual Outputs, pretty cool.
They should've called this the "DreamBrute." :)
Great video! I can only repeat a comment of someone on another mylarmelodies video - "STOP MAKING ME BUYING STUFF"! I already got an AnlogRytm and thought that's it about drum machines. But this is so much more hands on and moreover, for that price, just a f***in steal! So I'm afraid that this will find its way to my gear collection very very soon...
Not sure about the snare, need to hear the zap, didn't see any "noise" osc. Just my thoughts, excellent video!
Thank You!

Sorry for missing this! I used analog clock to sync DB/MB, and yes - using the individual outs on the DrumBrute you can effect individual elements using the mixer and AUX sends!
Looks fantastic at that price point.
Arturia SamplerBrute next!!!!

16:00 aaaaaaand I'm sold
ARTURIA...you WIN
when you sync these up too a synth I have a vague idea of how you might get it to sequence the rhythm but how do you choose what notes it will make the synth play?
@SourceDistributionTV
7 жыл бұрын
It doesn't sequence other synths (they'll need to have on-board sequencers or you'll need to sync it _to_ the sequencer) it just provides timing information!
Sounds like a mix of 808 and Vermona DRM MKIII. But very nice!

Hello and thanks for your video! Please tell me : The kick at 14:54 has a lot more punch than before. Is it because of external effects? If not i guess complaints about "boxy" kicks will not last. Also 20:04 a bit punchy. other question what is your reverb module? the one from the Studiolive? I love it :D BTW great playing!

Thanks! The Kick 1 just really rules when pitched right down. The massive, blissful reverb is Eventide Space! There's a sort of 'zingy room' in there too which is from the StudioLive!

I love this video
this with the roland mx-1 would be crazy

Come on, Tempest is a competely different thing, it's got a full blown analog bass synth in there, not to mention that the overall sound of the machine is far superior. I probably won't be able to afford a Tempest anytime soon but I would be all over it if I could, while this, even at a quarter of the price, seems unreasonable. It's got the classic analog drum sound, sure, but it lacks character and grit, while the Tempest is fresh and capable of some futuristic stuff.
@theinternetseekers2436

Does this have automated knobs? I noticed @ :25 you start cranking the decay knob on clap to the right, but @ :32 you hit the Kick pad and the decay knob snaps back to the left.

Fero Povazan You can hear I'm overdriving at certain points! Do a quick search and watch the DivKid video on DrumBrute as well, we stick it through a Moog distortion pedal, which is awesome fun
Can the DrumBrute sequence external gear? It seems like it can at least trigger an arp, but I can't tell if you can actually program in patterns of notes for another synthesizer.
@SourceDistributionTV
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, each pad/channel (17 of them) sends MIDI notes (you can change which notes with the software editor) so you could use it to trigger-sequence something else (software/hardware)!
@LtSalts
7 жыл бұрын
Do you know if it would be possible to use an external keyboard to send note data midi in to the DrumBrute, Drumbrute records it, and Drumbrute sends that out to whatever synth?
@SourceDistributionTV
7 жыл бұрын
LtSalts I don't think so no, but you _can_ change what MIDI notes the pads send on, so in a funny way you could 'tune' the pads to a scale and send that to a synth, and it would play a melody
Can you upload your drum samples into this? or any drum machines for that matter. or can you only use the samples that are already on the machine

@kulkulan223
YES!
