    Can't believe people are bitching that it doesn't have distortion and reverb with send per channel and a Fleshlight built in the back. Get a grip, people. It's 17 percussion sounds made using analog circuits, with step sequencing, roll and random for $450! I'd like to see you do better.

    achebit Great news! Arturia announced an expander with Fleshlight attachment called the WankBrute! And a million other manufacturers have expanders that allow for multi-FX per channel, including compression and overdrive! They're called mixers and outboard FX! Woo-hoo! :P

    Just watched this and your Microbrute demo, I have to say your demos are some of the best I've seen on KZread. You speak clearly, you describe and demonstrate the features clearly and succinctly, and you show a good variety of what the device is capable of. Thank you, keep it up. :)

    If a drummachine has no individual outputs people complain "if it ONLY had individual outs, i can not use it without". Now this machine has 16 outs... people complain "now i HAVE to use a mixer, that is not acceptable". I guess it is not easy to make everybody happy.

    Tacheles Reden elemayo!😂I'm dying, that's so true. Synth snobs are never satisfied, they can always find something wrong with everything. I'm thankful a mixer is ALL that it needs. There's so much this drum machine can do and it's beautiful. From what I can hear, it has its own distinct character and personality, sounds amazing and looks fantastic at that. just ordered one Friday and it's coming this week. I'm no professional, I only own a BOSS DR-5 and an Alesis SR-16 that I've used since '99 and can already tell that I'm going to have a blast with this thing and haven't even touched it yet. this will be my first true analogue drum machine and seems like a great start and true companion for my minilogue. can't wait to jump in and just grind out with it.

    The nice thing about this is that if you want to take just one or two sounds on individual outs you can, it removes them from the main mix so you still have the main mix handling the rest of the sounds, you don't have to use all the individual outs just to get one or two of them like you do on some drum machines.

    the trick with analog bar like this one is realy to use a compressor a gate and a lot of flanger and phaser or delay effect to make this beast rush !!! that's why people think it's limited even the sampler and the fm generator of a Sega Megadrive can be used on stage with an preprogrammed defelmask track on a everdrive sd cartridge. rule number one in electronic music nothing is limited as long as you know how to use your gear in the best way possible, to make real music.

    I love your videos! Always a pleasure. How did you synch the microbrute and the drumbrute and keep the sequence playing? Also, are you controlling the amount of effects (delay, reverb) on the mixer? For instance, can you mix in reverb only on high hat and snare and keep it off everything else or is it being run through the master?

    Awesome! Can I ask what you think about your Presonus mixer? I need a new relatively affordable 24(ish) channel mixer. I have been really disappointed by budget mixers. Mackie and Beringer just suck! I need something that will last and is pretty clean. So is there a reason to choose Presonus over Allen Heath? Of do you recommend another brand? Sorry to ask such a long winded question but i don't know who else to ask 😊

  • @SourceDistributionTV

    @SourceDistributionTV

    7 жыл бұрын

    The Presonus AR range is very very good - simple/easy to use (I didn't need to read the manual!) but mainly the inclusion of the SD card recorder is an amazing touch, for the kind of thing I'm doing here, you can just hit record and capture your jams in real time straight off the desk...no computer required! But of course you can turn it into a multi-track interface if you do plug it into a computer...

    Come on, Tempest is a competely different thing, it's got a full blown analog bass synth in there, not to mention that the overall sound of the machine is far superior. I probably won't be able to afford a Tempest anytime soon but I would be all over it if I could, while this, even at a quarter of the price, seems unreasonable. It's got the classic analog drum sound, sure, but it lacks character and grit, while the Tempest is fresh and capable of some futuristic stuff.

  • @theinternetseekers2436

    @theinternetseekers2436

    The Tempest is on another level compared to this. This is great little drum machine for the price its pretty amazing, but sonically the Tempest is on another level, also the range of sounds available on the tempest is FAR superior as are the filters and effects, plus the tempest has a synth on it as well, tempest has 800+ samples that are tweakable in many ways, the drumbrute has 17 sounds that are tweakable in a few ways, the difference is huge. Drumbrute Vs RogerLinn (original drumachine creator whos Linn samplebank used for those original machines sells for thousands still) and Dave Smith (Creator of some of the most outstanding synths ever made) colabaration drum machine that pushes the boundaries of what a drum machine can do, well, you kinda get what you pay for in audiogear :)

    Thank you for the amazing and in-depth review! How does the build quality seem to you?

    Great - pots are solid (don't wobble, etc), unit feels tough. If you've ever grabbed a MiniBrute or MicroBrute, feels very similar, except it's noticeably less deep!

    Finally the polyrhytmic seq...Great machine for the price!! Can you do a demo of the ne Studiolive AR16? Can you overdrive the voice of the drumbrute in the ar16? Thx

    Fero Povazan You can hear I'm overdriving at certain points! Do a quick search and watch the DivKid video on DrumBrute as well, we stick it through a Moog distortion pedal, which is awesome fun

    Can the DrumBrute sequence external gear? It seems like it can at least trigger an arp, but I can't tell if you can actually program in patterns of notes for another synthesizer.

    Yes, each pad/channel (17 of them) sends MIDI notes (you can change which notes with the software editor) so you could use it to trigger-sequence something else (software/hardware)!

    Do you know if it would be possible to use an external keyboard to send note data midi in to the DrumBrute, Drumbrute records it, and Drumbrute sends that out to whatever synth?

    LtSalts I don't think so no, but you _can_ change what MIDI notes the pads send on, so in a funny way you could 'tune' the pads to a scale and send that to a synth, and it would play a melody

    Can you upload your drum samples into this? or any drum machines for that matter. or can you only use the samples that are already on the machine

    Hey while you are at it, can you tell me if its possible to record the knob twists like automations?

    That's one thing it can't do I'm afraid. You'll just have to record your jams, live!

    That's the thing with modern analog stuff... guess it's because the target audience are people who mystify analog circuits and revere them as something unreplicable, and these factories probably did the research and found that they don't plan to use MIDI automation, they probably actually want to have knobs directly attached to potentiometers or variable capacitors or whatever. It should be easy to add say servo-motors on knobs that would twist them to automation curves but then these ppl would probably whine that it's not analog enough. On the other hand, if you're a practical guy who wants to have automation recorded (while making a track, for example), you're probably practical enough to realize that all-digital software plugins deliver pretty much as good as this thing, so we should leave it to analog reverents.

    Martin Jovanović its not that sophisticated to have analog knobs with digital data specially if it already has MIDI. My Tanzbar does it and so does my Minitaur and both are as analog as it can be. This unit also seems to be a lot more sophisticated than both of those. Tanzbar sounds amazing but build and sequencer quality is depressingly shit and Minitaur is extremely basic beautifully sounding and also completely digitally controllable. As much as I love the Drumbrute it is a shame if they left that out even for future implementation.
