Yikes 2 hackers in a day. The second hacker most likely sniped you after he saw that first hack game, but still what a nasty ladder.

I feel so sorry for Artosis who plays the game he loves. This has been going on for quite some time unfortunatly :( Still, @ArtosisTV, Kudos for keeping your calm as much as you do!

Oh my God that is definitely a bit fucked up.

I have the original SC+Broodwar, i have the remastered SC+BW, i have the Carbot skin. I haven`t played a multiplayer game in 15 years or so but sometimes fire up the campaign after watching these guys stream ASL which i`m catching up with in my free time (ASL S11 rn). But lets be clear: SC will die once these two guys stop playing/casting. It will remain a thing in Korea but the rest of the world will forget about it once Tastosis stops playing/streaming. So, time for us to start petitioning Blizzard to fix this crap on ladder.

Hack counter "power overwhelming" should be introduced against such guys

BW uses peer-2-peer networking, so things like this and drophack are possible and probably very easy to do (edit: not necessarily true, see oldyoutubeaccount's comment). There's no central server saying "I control XYZ data and it can only be changed in these ways that I expect". I doubt Blizzard implemented much (if any) anticheat, either.

​@@Genome320 SC uses lockstep. Both clients need to agree to the actions that are happening & their outcomes or players will disconnect. You can't create minerals or gas out of thin air. From the replay, it looks like this overflows the action buffer and there's probably one specific action you can do during that overflow/at the limit that results in gaining minerals when it normally wouldn't. It looks like it is related to building/cancelling a building because the minerals only spike when the player starts to build in both replays. A lazy fix would be to give any player who hits the action limit a loss or at least a disconnect. It seems inhumanly high at 2500+ apm.

Time to hope onto alternate servers Arty... Blizzard doesn't give a shit about their ladder

i wish blizzard could actually detect smth like that on ladder instantly, and ban right away and give the other the win. cant be that hard to code.

Something like this? Instantly adding tens of thousands of resources? You’d think so. It might be a little more complicated to do without using up too much computational power and because of where certain data actually is and how it’s shared over MP

The older the game, the more ways we find to break things. Look at speedrunning in just about every game, only a very select few that are more than 2-3 years old don't have any game-breaking bugs. Of course it's still not acceptable.

There is but it doesnt do anything as nobody at blizz is working on remastered actively. Remastered is a part of the "classic games" division or whatever and all they do is switch the ladder maps once or twice a year.

Because it's a 24 year old game, that was EOL 20 years ago, it's not remotely feasible to invest more resources into this game. They will however try to sell it to you again and again as they did with remaster, but it's your own fault for buying it.

If so, wouldn't it fall on the City to make sure the slide doesn't cut the kids a little?! I also think people get attached to certain games. so. let me revise the original question: "What can we do? such that our favorite games will only get more stable with time, and have less room for future cheats while keeping room for innovation" or are we to surrender to the reality that our favorite games will die before we do.

I really doubt there's a bunch of kids watching an old, dying man play a 66-year-old game. Srsly though, I don't think these are kids. Why would they even know or care about SC? It's more likely older guys who just happen to have a poopy sense of humor. I mean, it's as hard to understand for me as people donating to Webcam models, or going to modern urban/RnB/pop concerts. It's unfathomable for me personally, but so many people do it apparently.

I guarantee you believe it or not but there were actually more hackers back in 2009-2017 pre remastered era. Unless you had wdetector to see if you were playing against hacks it was pretty brutal playing on bnet. Literally everyday playing you'd run into hackers multiple games in just pubs. 😂 It made playing this game extremely annoying so I feel for poor arty. 😅

Artosis is just bad. His opponents don’t hack don’t cheat , all of his games are in fact real. 25 years playing sc and he’s still losing to the same shit because he’s incapable of getting over himself. It’s fun to watch the salt tho. Like a toddler playing with their baby food Artosis never fails to elicit laughs.
