ROC have been crowned Olympic champions in the artistic swimming team event with a score of 196.0979 at Tokyo 2020. Performing "Parade of the Planets", ROC came out in a space-themed costume with their free routine featuring plenty of incredible and interesting sections.

And yet I've heard professional sports commentators say - off camera - that they can take any sport seriously.... EXCEPT synchronised swimming. It's apparently seen as a bit of a joke in the "real" sports world.

@@mehitabel1290If you’re having trouble seeing how hard this sport is, just imagine running a full race at athletic level without breathing all the while looking graceful and synchronised with at least 7 other swimmers.

As an ex synchro swimmer and an ex D1 rower I can attest there is nothing quite like the complexity and difficulty of this sport. I get so bummed out when people can’t look at the sport beyond the makeup and swimsuits.
I don't know how the hell they are able to lift 50, 60 kg out of the water without touching the bottom of the pool whilst holding their breath

It’s actually less difficult then you think, because of the water. I can’t really explain it it’s just easier in water because they are lighter in the water then out of the water

ROC raises the standards of Artistic Swimming every year! No wonder they are unbeatable since 2000. I can’t wait for Paris 2024 to watch their next breathtaking (no pun intended) and difficult routines.

The final lift at 4:32 is a tribute to Gagarin, there is a similar statue in Moscow where he sort of lifts of into space;) Little trivia

Perfect synchronicity, even in slow motion. Amazing complexity. Passion, emotions, drama in performance. And the monument to Yuri Gagarin at the end simply moved me to tears, like any Russian person. Can't stop watching. It is a masterpiece.

Tbh I had no idea any of this was a thing until today but WOW! These women are so talented, not only keeping in rhythm with their teammates in water AND keeping their eyes open the entire time. Honestly im shook in the best way
ROC origin of Olympics. Set the standard noone can beat. My fav team all time

Yes, somehow they still haven't figured out that moving water surfaces in only HD resolution strains the eyes. This is the one thing that is holding this sport back - bad video codec and low resolution! :'
The artistry and teamwork is amazing but the pure athleticism is absolutely fantastic!!!
Finally!!! Why was it not available for all this time??? My favourite pair of English speaking commentators too!! Fantastic.. finally seeing our mermaids and Svetlana Romashina - a legend... the girls are crying for the lack of Russian national anthem and to suspect girls in this sport using doping would be ridiculous. Clearly it is hellish dedication and enormous labour, dedication and commitment as well as constant training that takes a team to heights like this with such consistency!!! For so many years everywhere!!! Just admit it-we have mermaids in Russia. Darling girls!! So proud and so delighted!!! Love love love ❤ 😍 💖 ❣ good version of Tchaikovsky though!Pokrovskaya is crying too... darling girls!! It doesn't matter if they call you aliens, you still make us all proud, we know your represent our motherland beloved Russia and the anthem is sang by you behind the masks echoes in our hearts. this routine is absolutely my favourite, I can't stop watching...I just can't bare the useless comments she constantly makes. It's like when a radio speaker keeps talking while your favourite song is playing.

Нас бьют - мы летаем от боли всё выше. Меня впечатлила наша саблистка Позднякова, пела гимн под маской на награждении. Музыка - она внутри тебя, её нельзя отнять.
