My older brother was a rock drummer in the 70's and turned me on to Carmine. I started seriously playing in the early 80's and have never forgotten Carmine's books and techniques to this day.

Holy Crap! I just happend across this video. I have his original book. And was in John and Dino Elefantes studio in the early 80s watching a friend record his solo album and got John and his drummer from Kansas to sign the book for me because it was the only thing I had near me. I still have the book to this day!

I saw Cactus and also Jimi Hendrix play outside in Sicks stadium in Seattle summer of 1970 Cactus played about an hour or two before Jiimi. Weather was good then, but later started to raiin. I am biggest Hendrix fan in world but Cactus was the best that day! Jim McArty really really incredible on guitar. Before Jimi came on, there was big rainstorm I was right up front by stage and it was still drizzling when Jimi finally came on. They put a tarp over stage where he stood, and he wore some rubber boots so he wouldnt get electrocuted. His guitar was soaking wet after awhile - I remember him doing hand slides on fretboard and water spraying off. He cut it all short threw down guitar suddenly and wallked off stage that was end of concert. Chances are Jimi got a big electrical shock and just said fuck it. His stage presence first coming on stage just standing there smiling in wild garb was amazing it was like seeing a black Jesus returning to earth is best I can do to describe it. I was only 14, innocent kid rock guitarist with really long hair.. When he first came on, there was big paisly hippy pillow on stage. First thing he said is if anyone wants to FUCK heres a pillow and he kicked it while he was looking right at me. I Ithink he thought I was a girl as my hair soaked and was babyfaced kid. So I can say Jimi Hendrix hit on me haha.

I hate to tell Carmine...but Frd Astaire knew how to play drums in the late 50 early 60's. He may have wanted the book but he could already play. There is at least 2 videos of him doing it...and pics of him in his home that had a drum kit in them.

Not gonna happen bro. It’s already been discussed a lot. Carmine even filmed an interview saying he would do it. Not all personalities match, if you haven’t already noticed in life. But I agree that it would make the most sense for carmine to be John’s replacement. I think LZ toyed with the idea of Cozy Powell doing it back in 1980, but nothing happened. Of coarse, now it’s too late for ANYONE to do it because Robert doesn’t want to do it.
