Artist Couple Needs Financial Advice - Til Debt Do Us Part - Tuned Out

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Musicians Valerey and Alex make more than just music together - they’ve also orchestrated a financial disaster. Unemployed, Valerey recently declared bankruptcy but she’s going back to school leaving Alex with all the bills. At 40-something, they're too close to retirement to have zero savings and no assets. Gail's plan depends on them tuning into their financial situation and making more money, but that's a tune that Valerey might not be willing to play. .

Well, that was painful to watch. I wish there was a follow-up to know if they were ever “discovered.” I don’t understand why a 40 year old woman with no children was unable to attend schooling/training AND work. At least part-time. Their dreams will be nightmares in 30 years if they don’t plan for their life as they age.

Have you heard of them? So I’m guessing they weren’t. Not that I hoped bad things would happen to them, as they seem kind-hearted, but they just aren’t living in the real world. And I don’t think they learned a thing during their episode. I do wish them the best, and now that there are so many music sites available perhaps they are making a living through one of them.

Gail wasted her time and money on this couple. He seems like a nice guy, but she has totally got him under her thumb. She's delusional. It doesn't mean they're not nice people and have big dreams, but they aren't living in reality. You have to work hard to achieve your dream. You can't just sit on your butt and wait for someone to knock on your door and hand you the money. I'm sure they'd be fun to have as friends, but I wouldn't want to be financially responsible for either one of them. Sorry to be harsh, but I am older and retired now and keeping up the struggle to maintain on my retirement. Boy do I wish I had a chance with Gail a bunch of years ago even though I live in the United states. I would be so much better off. I'm rewatching all of her videos, and trying to implement every piece I can pick out of it that I might be able to do. I Can Feel The Strain starting to go away already. I recommend everybody in a similar situation, do the same. Take charge, thanks to Gail, and go forward. Blessings to everyone.

Last week I was reading an article in the NYT on life coaching. It almost sounds like a MLM scheme. You take the expensive courses, and then try to rope in newbies to learn from your expensive courses. Yes, some people do actually earn a living if they can build up a steady clientele, but most never reach that level. Also, what makes her especially appealing to indigenous people. Does she have some in her ancestry? Has she had previous experience working closely with them in their communities? Or does she just think that dream-catchers are really pretty and lots of fun to make?

I am a recording artist for over 20 years, and I find many musicians in the same predicament. Being a musician is not the only creative job you can do while working on your music. It takes humility to acknowledge your financial deficiency. There is nothing like accepting where you are in life and making adjustments. Change is inevitable and it is the only thing we can be sure of. I enjoy Gail and her suggestions and how she helps see their financial reality. This couple should be grateful for the lesson and the 3K they received instead of being disappointed that they did not receive the 5K. Show less

I think all of us who fail to live up to our potential are still waiting for validation from our parents, unconditional love which our parents withheld causing us to freeze in place, like a trapped animal or a deer in headlights. Bad parenting is the bane of our society. This excludes the individuals derailed or damaged on the way to adulthood by exploitation. Laziness is rarely the reason.

When a woman does crappy things it's always trauma forced her hand. When it's a man it's always he's toxic and disgusting.

Home furnishings are cheap at garage sales and thrift stores! Free on Craigslist! I never pay retail!!!!!!! He should get a music teaching job at a small college.

Remember that one of their challenges was getting additional job(s) for extra money. They each tried to do so in the music field and both totally bombed the assignment. Teaching isn’t a bad idea, but I don’t think there is much demand for educators with his particular skill set. On the other hand, thrifting and Curb Alerts absolutely rule. We discovered thrifts in our early 30’s and have never looked back. (We have saved so much $$ that way.) I preach it to anyone who will listen. I am ever so grateful to people who only shop retail and consign/donate stuff they tire of.

Expressive art therapy?! Just sounds like a lazy excuse for doing nothing but indulging in yourself. Very similar to the likes of Auras healing and other so called Alternative mundo jumbo. I love the side stepping at end where she tries to make out she is doing good and going to work. It's just word salad!...a big bowl of emptiness.

"I don't think I can meet Gale's expectation of $2100 a month." - So you're saying you can't find a job paying $13 - $15/hour? Which was close to minimum wage in Canada at the time 🤔. So she refuses to take a minimum wage job? 🙄 They're like many "artistic" posers who have no real passion. They're close minded and pretentious.
