I don't like touching sponges so I feel for you!
Hi. Great to see you back.

Thanks, Kath 😀
If you use a sandpaper like pastel mat it will be easier to blend and add layer upon layer. Great first attempt!

Thanks for that, Paula. I do have some sanded paper that I never got around to trying yet. I bought it to try with coloured pencils as I never thought I'd be able to use pastels. So I'll give it a go 😀
You can buy chalk holders from Amazon which will work with holding the pastels rather than touching them…🥰

Brilliant!!! I will look for those, thank you very much 😀👍
I never worked with dry pastels and I don't think I would like that chalky dry feeling :D :D thank you for sharing this artful box! :) have a wonderful day! Mary :)
Great box. Very well curated so you'll appreciate pastel more and enjoy working with them. Nice to see a video from you. Have a great weekend, Rebecca.
What a gorgeous box design - shame they've changed the design now and even tell you on the outside what is in the box, I much prefer this format. Love the supplies in this one too. You've inspired me to get my pastels out now, I have a drawer full of them and haven't used them in ages. I know what you mean about the feel of some of them. You have loads of interesting videos which I'm looking forward to checking out and I must have a look at your watercolours too :) ps your piece turned out really well :)

Thanks so much, Annie 😀 I got the upgrade box for this one with more pastel colou😂rs but ashamed to say, I haven't used them since. Just haven't been doing much art lately. But after watching loads of your videos, I'm all fired up.
I’d love to get this subscription box but I live in Australia and it’s beyond ridiculously expensive
I am so glad you decided to give it a go after being so freaked out about the way they feel. I love pastels! Like you said they are so fast and easy to use and pigmented! I was happy to get these but I have a better quality set and they are even less dusty and better to use then these but these are definitely in the mid to high range in quality and will do a beginner well! I am actually quite happy the boxes aren't so close together, I feel like it gives them more time to make the boxes the best they can be! Thanks for sharing this! :D

Thanks, Amanda. I think I'm gonna really like them. I remember you did some pastel videos which I enjoyed watching but never thought I could use them myself. I'm so pleased now. And yes, it's probably best the boxes are only quarterly, it adds to the excitement. I hope you're doing a video with your box!!! I'll look forward to it. Gonna go and look for your pastel videos so I can watch your process and pick up some tips 😀👍😁
It’s weird I don’t like the feel of chalk or dry things like that either. I also can’t stand watching people point at (while they touch) some paper because it makes me feel like the feel of touching chalky things 😅 I couldn’t enjoy pottery at school because as it dried it felt chalky.
make up sponges and q tips can work too. Enjoyed the video!

Thanks for that, Michelle. I've literally just bought some make-up blenders and sponges to use with my Jane Davenport supplies, so I'll try them with these too. 😀
The picture on the box is beautiful. I have tried a few soft pastel paintings and it is messy and your hands get dirty but it really is fun once you get past the mess.
Good picture! I love this box although I have to steel myself for the inevitable mess 😂
How lovely to see you. I am also freaked out by anything chalky.😂

I haven't no but I'll go and have a look now, thanks 😊
A very nice picture! I really like pastels and I do quite a bit of work with them. Currently I am actually doing a portrait commission in pastel and trying out some of the more expensive pastel pencil sets, Stabilo, Derwent, and Faber-Castell. There are lots of blending tools that you might want to try out, if you don't want to get chalk on your hands. And they even have little finger covers that just go over the tips of your fingers. Sort of like finger gloves, lol.

Those finger covers sound great, I'll have a look for those. Thanks, Ellie 😀

@@TheArtSpirits If you have any trouble finding them, I think the technical term is finger cots, lol.
Not a fan of pastels
