don't use discord to store images for your profile, the links now break after a short time period. they updated this a few months ago

@@MarshmellowMuffin It won't sadly, it's a discord change not an artfight one. I think the links last around 14 days now, so you could just refresh them a couple times if you really wanted to. Imgur links should work if you don't want to deal with that lol

They updated it to do this because there were some people who decided to use Discord as a place for mass storage of both images, videos, and pirated content. They don't want to be a storage website and people were advertising it as a "data storage" hack

The bait thing is so real tho. I have all human characters except for one cat chaarcter, and although i didnt intend for her to draw more attention, i got so much more art of her last year than any of my humans

THIS. I had a dumb little snail on my profile that's some evil omnipotent psychological wizard who plays with people's heads and glows in the dark. Everybody LOVED him, and i made him very half-assedly too 😭😭😭 That and the TV head guy that's just there to look cute. Artfight is such a weird little place...

I've never participated in Art Fight before, but I plan to this year! Thank you for this video ❤️❤️ I'll start getting ready hehe

For a while now I make a series of portrait-style icons for all my characters! They're simple but they show a close up of their heads and tend to be colored in their general color palette/most prominent/most important color, plus the background is a simple black solid with some white text that has a phrase that describes them, I think it makes my profile look neat, and after all! Any icon is better than no icon. Thank you for your tips!

Last year I was on holiday for a bit of AF and I just made attacks in my sketchbook!! Download a few ref sheets onto your phone/tablet and check the site and upload whenever you have internet Just make sure you have a lot of pencils, a sharpener, erasers, and something hard to draw on like a hardback book or just a hardcover sketchbook Also colouring pencils would be nice :) I stole my younger sibling's lmaoo

That's why I made the video a month then most people make artfight videos. Artfight starts July first. You still got a month and a half to get set up for the event! You have time to at least put up 1 character!

Gonna be my first year of joining! Prepping rn, made me realize my negative amount of reference sheets AGHHH I have a singular ref sheet omg I suck why do I do this do myself why have I never drawn ref sheets for my characters

hi i got super excited already as soon as may started LMAO this will be my third artfight and i got a new laptop for drawing so this will be a really good chance to get used to using it. but last year i noticed some of my characters just Not getting attacked, as well noticing other artists having more equal attack/defense numbers than i do. so how do you make a character enticing to attack? i feel like i have to be doing something wrong with the ones that don't get anything, since one of them is the guy in my icon who is not complex or hard to draw at all. and he's my sona so that legit disappoints me.

Your OCs are so cool!! They look like a ton of fun to draw, so I don't think the designs are the issue. From a glance, a lot of your character thumbnails appear to be full illustrations. They look great full size, but the amount of color and detail is overwhelming when it's shrunk down. I suggest making small, simple drawings exclusively for the thumbnails, sticking to a head/bustshot with at least a bit of transparency in the background. You could even take a page out of the KZread thumbnail book and bump up the saturation so that your characters stand out more. Starlene's is pretty much what you should be aiming for imo, and the one for Lazarus Hazard will work well if you crop it to just the head and shoulders. Edwin's is good as well, but personally I think the background colors overwhelm the actual design.

ART FIGHT ‘24 is ready for Kawaii drawing!

Discord is AWFUL for storing and linking images for profiles now since the images and links break in like a week or whatever, using File Garden is waay better imo because you can sort images into files and you can directly link the image from File Garden onto your ArtFight profile!! :] (Also as far as I'm aware, there's no file limit to File Garden! Store images to your heart's content)

It's probably just me but your Characters look like a Fusion between Sonic,SVTFOE,and The Original Rainbow Brite Series.

Dude, I seen people just have floating heads as a ref. You're good to post them as is. Most prefer to have a whole body ref so others have more to work with. Ah! But if you have draws of your OC that's not ref ready, you can post up to (I think) 5 different pics per character. The more drawings to work from the better and you didn't have to draw a full on ref. OwOb

What- what if we don’t have OCs but like creature designs instead 😅 I wanna draw people dragons and creatures but I don’t have an OC 😭
