Manuja Gupta here from India. Thanks for the tips on the tape....the wiping and the diagonal. Gouache is wonderful to work with and is very forgiving. Also, as you mentioned, getting the consistency right is a bit tricky. I mainly use gouache for calligraphy.

She is saying gouache. It is a matte, opaque watercolor. There are now acrylic gouache paints available as well.
