How can Partey not start or even come on against Bayern 2nd leg? How did Zinchenko play almost the whole game against Villa?

What encompasses that pass was the vision, the speed and distance of the pass, the curl, taking out two defenders but not too close to the keeper, and the weight of the pass - ball dropping dead right in front of Havertz on cue so he didn't have to break stride before he carried and finished it into the roof of the net. It's poetry.

Deadly pass. What I've noticed is ode is more dangerous coming from deep on left side of pitch. He defo does more damage from that angle

No Jesus please, He has lost his pace and can not score. Why would you replace Trossard who is banging in goals? we did same mistake last season and this season as well trying to shoehorn Jesus when he became fit then the team suffered. Either play Trossard (preferred) for finishing or Martinelli for pace.

Jesus and Zin are to be rested for the remaining games if Arsenal are serious about getting something out of the remaining games

Jesus has a good hustle and he's bustling but he shouldn't replace Trossard.

One moment I noticed, was before the build up to the final goal, Odegaard mapped out a way to beat the press from noticing how Chelsea players were pressing, by keeping the ball until he passed it back to Raya, knowing that Gabriel and Saliba would split wide and knew the Chelsea players would continue to follow them, and then he asked to receive the ball back from Raya and then played it through the new space created to pass to Tomiyasu, which eventually resulted in the final goal. It's things like this that stats will never show.

Trossard deserves the start soo clutch havertz at 9

James, where is the proof that Jesus is faster than Trossard? Since his injury he's looked much slower, whereas Trossard has shown good pace at times (Brighton goal). I'm fairly certain Trossard wins a footrace vs post-injury Jesus. I also remember Jesus missing big chances vs Spurs at the Emirates.

Everything else on the analysis is absolutely correct but on Jesus starting, I disagree. Starting Jesus upfront and Harvetz in mid a couple of games previously proofed not working for us and that being the case, my lineup would be: Raya, Tomiyasu, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Havertz and Trossard. Exactly the same mid-week squad against Chelsea.

If he starts Jesus, as I understand James, he will displace Trossard and not Havertz upfront. I disagree with James though. Trossard shoukd jeep his place.

I love these match stats vs Chelsea. For how many years now have we absolutely dominated possession and yet dropped points? Recently we've had loads of examples where the reverse is true; convincing wins with average possession numbers. I think it shows a maturity of strategy (as well as the obvious increase in quality). Great to see.

AFTV acting as Jesus defence lawyers. I mean he is just ineffective at the most important place on the pitch, the goal.

The balance was perfect agsinst Chelsea, PLEASE Mikel, much as i love the guys passion, i don’t wanna see Shevchenko start at left back again ! We don’t need him inverting with Partey in midfield, the guy cannot a defend !

Jesus isn't starting this game 😂. Our starting 11 against Chelsea is probably our strongest at this moment. Trossard is in peak form atm whilst both Jesus and Martinelli are clearly not in form. If we take our chances against Spurs we will win comfortably.

No. He's clearly not 100% fit & dropping Trossard when he's so in form would be a mistake. Don't tinker with a winning formula, same team as the last game.

Liked the preview tac insight James. Would have been good to have seen the Chelsea breakdown however.

Another example of odegaard's monster pass from the left cm spaces was the assist to trossard vs porto in the 2nd leg 🎉 Odegaard has also scored a lot of goals being on the left 8 spaces either by arriving late (man utd equaliser) or by running on to goal (vs brighton iirc). I think odegaard has to be put as the left 8, if we are to get another midfielder to replace partey or jorginho and let rice be the permanent 6, but idk, rice at left 8 is also a really good option

He's never been great, never cracked 15 PL goals a season as a striker. Over rated.

This is a derby game. We’ve seen enough examples this season to know that the better team, even on the day, doesn’t always win. Games like these are cup finals that are won in moments and, as a result, we need our biggest moments players and our most clinical ball strikers. Jesus isn’t one of them. If a chance falls to him 1 v 1 , there isn’t a single Arsenal fan that would be confident that he puts that away. Our players don’t need that level of unreliability and frustration in such a big game. Maybe bring him on in the 55th or 60th minute if we need something different, but he shouldn’t start

When are we going to realize the JESUS disrupts our forward line and our game flow. Our record with him in the team this season isn't great.

For Saka's goal in the 3-1 win over Liverpool at the Emirates, it was an Odegaard pass from the left channel that released Havertz. Odegaard has the stamina and, I believe, the tackling ability to be our LCM. Rice - Odegaard - CAM, where the CAM is an exciting player on the market, has the potential to tear teams apart when they're there for the taking!

If odegaard plays the same way he played against spurs last season, spurs will hold 2 goals at minimum (3 if he plays like how he played against chelsea). Imo, odegaard is key to this game. It will be a tough game, but we will win.

I can see the need for a high press but for that to be effective, our front 6 should be Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Jesus and Martinelli. However, Martinelli and Jesus are out of form right now whereas Havertz and Trossard are scoring. I would keep Martinelli and Jesus on the bench and bring them in for Saka and Trossard for the last 30 mins (hopefully we are 2 nil up) and utilize the pace to keep Spurs worried at the back

I would argue that Nketiah might be an answer in this upcoming derby considering Spurs play high line defence, Nketiah's pace can open then up more than Jesus or Havertz! Martinelli - Nketiah - Saka. but with us playing Rice - Partey - Odegaard we might force them to low block by keeping possession so in this case Havertz would be more effective! I honestly don't mind who starts upfront as long as Partey Rice and Odegaard plays together!

I think we need Odegaard switching up where he attacks from right and left to help keep things unpredictable.

Are you not counting the one ageinst porto james? I would say 3 of his best assist is from the left side😉

Its a tough choice for LW, but I don't think Trossard suits this game at all. Martinelli edges it for me as there will be a lot of space for him to attack and make it really difficult for Porro to play high up.

I just Partey pairs Rice and Trossard can start as well but if the Manager feels Jesus will be more effective, then we go with him.

I haven't watched the video, but have to say a massive no to Jesus. We have been playing brilliantly and winning without him. As a sub and a squad player he is a great option, but feel we have grown without him.

The Tactics are simple in this game. We will press man to man when Spurs are building from goal kick. In phase of play we shall drop in a low block 4 4 2 shape. To beat the offside we might play diagonal ball over their defence.

all arsenal need to do vs spurs is have the DM drop into the backline as a 5 then you deal with spurs full backs and have the midfielders mark there 2 no.8's and havertz on their DM have the wide players stay wide and high for the counter attack, like how will spurs score then there front 5 are man marked up front and midfielder and DM are marked so the defenders will have to try break the lines which leads to possible turn overs and you have the wide players set to destroy them with the vast amount of space their full backs will leave. you dont change the team, just play a little bit deeper similar to city but not to that extreme, then again city forced them back more than they wanted.

James please stop giving your advice of the tactical approach to Arteta. We all remember that you advise that we should play Jorginho instead of Partey aganist Bayern game in your preview before the game and our midfield got f**ked in the first round by playing Jorginho.

😂😂 I know nothing compared to Arteta but this comment is way off. I vouched for Jorginho to play more and was right, he’s been brilliant. Against Bayern I called for Rice to play 6 & Jorginho to play 8, and looks like that would have been a better approach. I get things wrong all the time of course I do but these examples only support that some of my takes are right!

Jorginho was our most progressive player. We lost all control when he was replaced with Havertz in the left 8.

I disagree James, I think Spuds will look to play a counter attacking game. We’re always weakest against teams set up this way and they have an excellent outlet in Son.

Top teams shouldn't have a first eleven, a set eleven or a strongest eleven any more. Different players and roles for different opponents and situations.

Havertz works up front. Id be hesitant to change it

The best thing for us is to bench Jesus... he is selfish and slows our transition. When he plays we find it difficult to score and win games cus he always wants to dribble even when he just needed to quickly push the ball for a good goal. I sincerely would love to see him sold in the summer . Same as zinchenko. Keep the starting eleven against Chelsea. That's our best for now. Please
