PART 1 HERE ~~ • Chewlix / Vewlix Arcad...
Part 2 of the 3 part video series of my arcade Chewlix/TTX3/Multi series. I didn't intend for there to be a longer than 2 month gap between releasing these videos, but it took a lot longer to put this together, and i had a bit of writers block, and life etc. Unfortunately a lot of the clarity of things has been taken away from the YT video compression, so you won't get to see it as clear as it is, you'll just have to imagine. There was a fair bit of quality loss in the encode.
So, I've been modding the Artax arcade multigame system for around 18 months now. I originally started modding this system for 1080p, redid many of the game tiles, added a heap of new stuff and redid just about all the videos. On top of that I spent many hours patching games to get them to render at 1080p correctly over their original rendering resolution (and documented none of it). Then I went and got a 4k screen, as you saw from part 1 video, and i had originally intended to just leave the system at 1080p and try to patch a few games to get them to play at 4k, but when the sytem stretched 1080p to the 4k screen, it really looked like trash.... SO i set about upgrading the multi, it's menu, all of the art tiles, video etc to 4k so it looked really nice on the 4k screen...
It was a much bigger job than i had anticipated, i did it on speed run, but damn it is a lot of work. Anyways, at least i've now well and truly achieved my goal of making my multi unique, which was important to me, and i'm well on the way to having it all at 4k, but not finished yet. It's set me back 3-4 months having to go and redo everything again, so adding new games has for the most part stalled since December-ish, but that's ok. I'll finish getting everything ready for 4k and then i'll start adding the remaining games i want. Maybe in a years time i'l be finished, or not! Patching games is the most difficult things, sometimes i'll spend a whole day on trying to work out a single game and get nowhere... here's looking at you Let's Go Jungle.... seriously f--k this game, and the spiders it rides around on. I want it to be 4k really badly but i just can't make it happen.
Anyways, this video will give you an idea of what i've done, and if you see something you like, then maybe it'll inspire you to mod your own, and it will also hopefully stop people messaging me to ask me to show them my mods. Here it all is! It's incredibly tedious work, but for me when i finish a section and everything is high quality, I find it very rewarding. This is still very much a WIP for me, i'm splitting my time between this and another (non arcade, pc gaming) project I'm working on!
Anyways, hope someone enjoys the video, now i have to make a part 3.... not sure what i'll talk about, the hardware changes i made are very simple, so not sure it warrants a whole video. See how things go. I probably won't make tedious videos like this very often in future, this video just took way to long to put together.
