Returned to Hennessy catalog and shit still bangs. I ordered the MFA on DVD in 2012 but the Pharoahe canceled my 4.99+s&h on PalPal. Now, nearly a decade later, if anyone that actually snagged one wants to rip it and up it to Internet Archive or somethin' that would be cool. I"m sure the MFA curriculum ain't changed, still assigning Michael Fried.

I love you Hennesy. This is all so funny (and sad) at the same time. Ironically, I am old, white woman who got her M.F.A. in 1979. EVERYTHING you say is the same as it was back then and still is today. I laughed super hard when you said stuff about looking for a job that pays over $12./hr and has anything remotely to do with art. I am doing that exact thing right now.

I mean much of what he says is true, it's more based upon who you know and the quality / context of your work. In certain contexts it is better to have a Masters in your art degree, but what you'll find is that the majority of fairly popular contemporaneous artist have dropped out of school while getting their undergraduate degrees.

i dropped out of art school, partly because of the thousands of dollars required to, learn how to move a paint brush(its soooo difficult) and this series of videos. thanks man, im in debt , but hey, im making music

So my DVD arrived, and I was all excited to put that shit on my resume, since I recently quit my job as a janitor in the art world. Funny how that shit is now legitimizing my brand new MFA on DVD diploma, AND listed under my previous work experience. From one janitor to another... we should start a union.

you can indeed go to school for doctoral studies in visual arts..

As the good student i am, i am responding to a homework. Almost 1y ago i concluded a painting degree but not a real degree as a bachelor because it's from a small private school. I learned a lot but it seems that it's not real or useful, since i don't have a beautiful paper diploma to show to my family. I feel that if it's not from a very specific well known (arts) university, it doesn't guarantee that u Will become a sucessful artist (forgueting now about the quality but about how you can get inside the bubbles of the art system of x town). If I would went to a very specific well known school i would get a bachelor with a lot of reading and writing work that doesn't teach me how to don't use a brush and maybe allows me to have a meet and great ticket for the art's system bubble. Anyway, there's artsy bubbles in every (art) school that allows you to become a sucessful artist or not. And more you correspond to their standards more deep you can dive into the bubble. Why getting a bachelor and a master if you can watch a DVD from Henessy Youngman or the Oblique Strategies from Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt (1975) in 3mins? The cards from the deck "Oblique Strategies" are white and flat as white cheese, universal and safe answers. You can't make work because you feel blocked? You may unblock that brain and hands. You can order some random advices or ask your friends or old teachers for free. It doesn't matter if it's 1975, 2011 or 2022: you better work, you better listen to a voice that helps you to deal with the next step. A lots of success,

So basically only go the MFA route if you've got a trust fund or are planning on committing seppuku around 30. On the bright side if you do the latter your art will probably increase in value.
