Tokyo Art Stores? They are just… otherworldly. The first time I went to Japan, I was still a student and had no money to buy art supplies in Japan. Spoiler: it includes a lot of of Holbein acryla gouache. - The first time I went to Japan, I was still a student and had no money to buy art supplies in Tokyo (or anywhere in Japan ^^"). This time I am back for all the art supply stores in Tokyo I could not visit before. Well, just 4 to be precise… I took a whole day for this special art supply shopping session. It includes exploring really cool Japanese art stores, and a lot of of Holbein acryla gouache.
♡ Thank you for watching 𓃠
PS. I asked for permission to film in all stores, including Sekaido who let me film under the condition of being very discrete and considerate :)

I really understand the feeling you describe of being able to come back to an art store as an adult and treat your past self to all the art supplies they couldn't afford. For me it was micron pens and cute stationary 😊 It was also very difficult to find products from Japan (or Asian in general) when I was growing up. Really love this series and exploring the different vibes each art store has!

There are a lot of supplies there already been used by many artist, you will never make money doing things that already been done better than you can , by many before. You have to come up with something that's new and different. Anyways, you can easily make a better micron pen by cutting the nib of any marker from dollar store with sharp exacto blade.. You did not want to become an artist just to have the art supply store define your art, that would be terrible 😔

I can relate with you so much, now than im adult and im able to afford art supplies i have watercollors on all the shapes and colors, liquid, brushes, pencils, pastels, pans, tubes, etc, i also have color pencils, acrylics, true markers for comic , marker papper, watercolor papper, its a unique feeling to be able to have the art supplies you always wanted when growing up not being able to afford it.

For an artist to walk to the art supply store is the walk of shame😔
If I went to Japan I’d be taking an empty suitcase just for art supplies I buy while visiting! This is such eye candy for me!!!❤
The art supply shops there are unreal. They have colors that I didnt know existed. Ive only been to Tokyu Hands and that place has a lot too.
I hope one day I can go to Japan my most favorite place
Beautiful video with an amazing story. I would go bonkers and buy a lot. Self control in an art store is a challenge.

Maybe only go to Japan with a teeny tiny suitcase to help with self control? 😂 (let's also pretend no bigger luggage would be available there...)
Aaaahhhh all the cat themed items!!! And the hat!! Thanks for sharing. Now I know that I need a bigger budget for Japan. ❤

Fascinating video. You did such a great presentation selecting the stores and showing them. I haven't been to Japan since 2011 and this just makes me want to go back! As an artist, this made me more interested in additional media. I'm new to your channel and look forward to seeing more! Thanks so much!

I'm so happy youtube recommended me this video, it's my dream too to visit Japan and especially because of the art supplies ! Tokyu Hands and Sekaido are a must for me and I will gladly throw all my money at art supplies lol. Oh,and cat island! I am so surprised to see you visit Gekkosso, I found out about it recently and I really want to try their paints, they're impossible to get outside of japan from what I see!

I loved the store Pigment! The beautiful wall of colors, outstanding!
I actually loved Sekaido because even though it's massive when you go to the upper floors it's always peaceful. There used to be the old one, way smaller than the big one but it got closed. It was cool to experience the difference. The old one carried mostly office supplies, not so artsy but had interesting items. BTW another huge Shin Chan lover here! ='D I even went to Saitama a couple times!

Very nice video of the town I live in. I did not know about this last shop. I would also recommend Yanaka district to you. I'd like to explore 3 floors of stationary and art supplies. Such a large selection of materials. Your choice to use gouache and the store Pigment has me thinking again about creating my own paints/colors from plants. AND x2. One* Your editing add ons make great videos. I don't have an art supply addiction. I have an allergy to not buying art supplies. It's a real thing. I'm seeing a doctor for it, and I'm getting medication. And by seeing a doctor I mean the art student working the cash register at the art store, and by medication I mean art supplies.

I told myself I was done with Tokyo but now I want to go to Gekkōsō 😆 I'm so excited for your Osaka video ✨ When I lived in Osaka in 2020 there was an art store I liked that was also cat-themed, the whole ground floor was cat-stationary and cute cat decorations and then upstairs there was paint supplies and sketchbooks, it was interesting and reminds me of Bempodo. with soft pastels you wipe them with a paper towel or cloth after a few uses, so the colours dont get mixed, its not too much of a pain, but I can understand :)
