art i consumed during my youtube hiatus
Hello my angels!
I've been dying to discuss all the art I discovered while I took a break from KZread. Creating and consuming the arts (books, films, music) is the coping mechanism I turn to in order to heal, and ground myself.
I hope you enjoy today's video, and I'll see you in the next one! Please leave and opinions or art recommendations in the comments below!
Art mentioned:
Films-
Bones & All
Eyes Wide Shut
The Menu
A Faithful Man
Books-

Music-

Thank you, as always, for the support. It means more to me than you even know.

Me too❤
love hearing your thoughts - you’re so well spoken! and appreciate you going into a vacant apartment just to record for us 🫶🏻
The eyes wide shut explanation! So so good it’s just like that. Kubrick died 2 weeks after the release. The Warner bros weren’t happy about the ending so they obligated him to delete the last 25 minutes! it’s about who rules the world
A 26 minute vid? U are truly and angel and a blessing ✨
you're always stunning but your inner beauty shines so much when you're talking about things you're passionate about
i feel like there's been a small but growing sector of the internet whose lives have been taken over by ethel cain and bones and all-- myself included! i would definitely recommend reading the screenplay for bones and all, which they released on deadline, there are so many scenes they cut out and little moments too that just add so much to the story! also, the show Sharp Objects based off of Gillian Flynn's novel gives me such ethel cain vibes too, hayden said that she absolutely loves the show too
This concept is *chefs kiss* please do this every quarter of the year. It is such a treat to hear your thoughts on these different art pieces
I love strangers so much too 🖤 I don't think Ethel was being eaten alive tho "freezer bride your sweet devine" televangelism was about her soul going into heaven and august underground was her being killed 🖤
Yayyy missed you lovely hope you're doing great
Please Karissa keep making more videos ❤
I've seen/read/listened to everything you mentioned in this video and I loved hearing your opinions. You should make more videos like this. Also with Death in Her Hands, its easily, in my opinion, her most confusing work and probably my least favourite. The ending falls short, but still worth a read if you like Ottessa's style of writing
hey love since you're from florida i would really recommend watching "The Florida Project" its amazing and as an orlando resident, it was beautiful seeing familiar places of my city in a cinematic way, it really made me look at my life differently.

Thank you sm for recommending Ethel Cain. Her album Preacher’s Daughter is amazing 🤍
As a biracial, Pakistani American, I have to say I have a lot of religious traumas around Islam and the misogyny that I experienced. My father's go to answer for anything was "you can do that once you're married, if your husband allows it". I was brought up with the idea that I would go from holding my dad's hand, to holding my husband's hand and that I could never stand on my own two feet as a woman. No wonder I have issues lololol but not lol
this video has become part of my morning routine

Awesome video! Thank you so much for your art recommendations! In return I’d like to give you (and this comment section) some of my art recommendations. Movies: BABYLON: 10/5 stars You’ve probably seen trailers for it advertised everywhere. The film has gotten mixed reviews, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. I was moved and inspired. It takes place in 1920s Old Hollywood where they are transition from silent films to talking films and that’s all that I will say because it’s best to go into this movie as blind as possible. Margot Robbie is on fire in this film, she is absolutely incredible. The film is 3 hours long but it’s paced so well and so entertaining that it doesn’t even feel like 3 hours. Highly recommend. TÁR: 4/5 stars Cate Blanchett stars as Lydia Tár. A conductor who is at the height of her career and she’s about to record a career defining symphony. She’s in a place in her life that many people would want to be, and she has enough money, power, respect, and status to where she can do whatever she wants. She has nothing to worry about. Or does she? Cate Blanchett melts into this role it doesn’t even feel like she’s acting. It’s a captivating story set in modern times after the pandemic. Heavy on the social commentary and cinematically delicious. A triumphant character driven story. An old film but a great one INLAND EMPIRE: 5/5 stars David Lynch’s final film he ever wrote and directed. And my personal favorite. A mind bending masterpiece about an actress named Nikki (played by Laura Dern) who gets the part in a movie that get her career back on track. But the more they film, the more everything goes off the rails. I’ve been giving vague synopsises for all these movies in case you prefer to go into movies not knowing anything, but Inland Empire is so wild I couldn’t even spoil it if I tried. If you watch the movie high you deserve a Nobel peace prize lmao. HIGHly recommend. (It’s coming out on criterion collection in March but is on KZread for the time being) And for music I recommend Fog Lake. Fog Lake makes the most dreamy indie music ever! Dinosaur being one of my favorite songs. Think Elliot Smith meets Lost in Translation Sofia Coppola vibes. Anyways I hope you enjoy my recommendations! Sending you love! ❤️
Missed u
have you read Dakota warrens book on sun swallowing its so so beautiful
You definitely read Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. It's one of my favorites.
please talk more about art!!!!
i' read my year of rest and relaxaction
is anyone know what the name of her camera I really like it
Tu est magnifique ❤️ 😘 ❤️ 😘
I hope you read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant! Love you :)
Watch Blue Velvet You'll enjoy it It's pretty bizarre and surrealistic
what camera do you use?!
I recommend listening to Indigo by RM. I feel like you would absolutely love it. it is LITERALLY art-infused and its so good. In a few days, there is also an album coming out called Layover by V. There are two songs out from that album already and they are called Rainy Days and Love Me Again. It's heavenly and it reminds me of Lana Del Rey.
As a Taylor swift fan I can definitely say that midnights was not one of her best albums, it was great but not as good compared to her others
hi! sorry to be THAT person but it’s pronounced ann-ya not ahn-ya i used to pronounce it that way not too long ago too. sorry to bug you ❤️ love you sm
8:42 I think it’s pronounced “Rafe Fines”.
You look like Laura Mellado.
Yesterday was a really heavy day for me I slept with a heavy heart bearing all the stress i endeared throughout the day… Woke up today with the same heavy heart was still sleepy but couldn’t go back to sleep because of all the thoughts running through my mind Came on youtube to watch a video that could possibly make me feel better I was aiming for a prank type video But THANKFULLY i found u.. Your aura, vibe everything about you is so captivating and calming your voice and your words made me feel at ease and calmed my troubled soul I no longer feel heavy thanks to you I’ve already gone through most of your videos and literally in love A bit sad there’s not that much content on your channel but it also fits with your very authentic vibe and makes your content feel more real and genuine Thank u:)
