Kicks and head butts between vieira and Keane, followed by stam grabbing vieira by the throat yet no red cards. God I miss the good old days.... Arsenal v Man U was the best rivalry in football history.

Amazes me looking back how good Beckham, Henry, Bergkamp were even by modern standards

keanw vs Vieira, no racism , no throwing dirt at each other’s name behind the camera. Just two passionate strong midfielders going head to head with brutal tackles and challenges like real man, immediately shakes it off and move on with the game without making a fuss. No hatred between the two just rivalry for the love of the games, love these two

Best era of the Premier league tbh - late 90s - mid 2000s were immense.

2 great teams 2 great captains 2 great managers When football was at its best , I actually feel sorry for kids who never seen this rivalry , best game in football for 5 season . Keane is my favourite player and the memories I have of this game is why I love football . Football just isn’t the same no more .

Facts here - it's all too nice and sanitized these days - players diving if they are touched, no one seems to care anymore they just play for money, no tackling anymore or physicality, VAR which is a joke and the football is kinda boring - it's all possession, sideways passing, sends me to sleep lol

Have watched so many highlights of old games since coronavirus hit. Miss these days so much. Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a premier league game involving united with such intense rivalry and agro.

sane here, I think that a big difference between today's football and football 20 years ago is the lack of strong, prominent characters. this game is a perfect example, players such as Roy Keane and Patrick Viera are two big characters seen in this match. I don't mean that you have a strong character if you fight,(which they do in this match) but if you look at their careers they have something in common, they are both fierce and passionate leaders that are have a massive presense on the pitch.

In late 90s 442 using 2 striker role number 9, in 2000s using 2 striker 1 as number 9 1 as number 10. Nowadays the number 10 usually not striker anymore but AM, the winger became striker. If you bring this old 442 to nowadays game its sooo outdated.

Amazing g too how Fergie would get into the team at HT for them to come out every time fighting for everything shows why SAF will go down as the best manager in history of football

When I watch late 90's and early 2000's Arsenal , Man United teams I feel the goosebumps. Those teams where phenomenal. The surprising part most of the players played in this game continue to play for the clubs fore like 5-6 to 10 more years after this game. Sadly this level of commitment is dead by the current brood of pro today.

What a game and I’m glad they showed Van Der Gowts best game in a united kit! Great goalkeeper deserved more credit for his career!

When United v arsenal games were full of drama , intensity , skill,...and brutality.....loved the passion this rivalry stirred up during the 90s ....miss those days of keane, viera, scholes, bergkamp, beckham, stam and others...great times

The football at that time was amazing, full of all essetnial element, speed, power, techni, etc. Bot teams focused on game and fighting each other. So pure football!!!!

When these Liverpool fans compare that cross spamming merchant TAA to Beckham, u know they were crying during Becks glory days. Beckhams crosses were sooo accurate, TAA literally dashes out 50 crosses a game and closes his eyes, hoping it hits it target

Well I agree in some ways that that was great old days when footballers really play like men for pride and honor, not just for money. They fought till the whistle blown, along the way they got physical and all, but I guess that’s coz they just wanted to win so bad. However, I also agree that harsh challenges that could end someone’s career like Keane did to Alf Inge Haaland should be punished accordingly.

The game was always going to go this way.With the explosion of money,clubs want to protect investments like Neymar,its no good paying 200 mill for him to be injured by a Vinnie Jones tackle from behind. Another commenter nailed this years ago ; "British football in the 90's,was mostly British players,with a few Scandinavians,those players are not known for being small,technical players. You can't ask Iniesta to be "hard",if you aren't asking Batty to be skillful." Besides,have you watched any full games from the 90's? There are so many basic errors,or hopeful punts,or hoofed balls out of fear. The ball spends sooooo much time out of play,for throw ins or free kicks. Yes,there were far more characters,the game itself was more action packed(today 40% of games involve passing around either boxes) but today's game,is far faster,with the ball in play way more,basic errors and hoofed balls are sins for managers,and undoubtedly,there are way more skillful players. It always comes down to a trade off...no tackles from behind? ok but that means less tackles...banning heading for health reasons? ok but bye bye to Crouchie or Ferguson....safer stadiums for family's? ok......but you get rid of the most passionate fans(usually the ultra's or racist pricks) In the end,the game is better,how could it not be?It always progresses. The Prem has been an upward spike since inception,the bloody thing thrived during the recession.

Raimond was a good keeper,when a goalkeeper has a quiet reputation its usually a good sign.Always did a good job when called upon and very few errors that I remember

Roy Keane!! What a skipper he was...! Definitely there are very few teams in football history who could claim to have a captain being as good or better than Keane (I mean not as a player but as a captain, with his capability of pulling the entire team to victory, and making every player give his 110%...then of course, he was a super strong player as well). In the latest years my mind goes to Baresi, and I think Simeone could have been a top captain of Inter, but they decided to give the armband to Ronaldo instead.... Also Tony Adams was a great captain. Still among all of them, to me Keane is The Captain..

Keane dived to win a penalty against West Ham 7-1.....no player has never cheated.

It's crazy to think that the standard of these two sides since the late 90's is better than the level they are at now, considering this is nearly 25 years ago. Both united and Arsenal from this era would still be good enough to compete for the title now.

I love old Highbury fields

What a wonderful game of football between two top class sides. Lots of meaty challenges and not a sign of faking injuries and rolling over half a dozen times, thanks for uploading. Also great to see Highbury again, what a proper football stadium, I only went once and my team won! Good old Kevin Gallacher.

These matches were so much more entertaining than today's matches!

Scholes had a nightmare in this game, can see why Ferguson took him off, Arsenal did have a superb pressing game at that time. Becks was superb in 2nd half & Keane showing great finishing composure, not just a leader but a good footballer too
