@biereth, true that 4 mio is a nice figure for an austrian club, but there are a few players who scored significantly less and were sold for >20 mio in recnet years (okafor, etc.) Fally mayulu (21) was sold a few days ago for 3.5 mio to bristol city, he scored 6 goals in 28 league games. Mika scored 14 in only 20 games

Hi Charles. Love the content. With it now seeming like Bentley will be coming in as third choice (if signed) do you think Karl Hein as the potential of being number 2 next season if he has a decent loan spell. Bringing in Bentley as a 3rd choice would be great business.

I know this is doubtful but I really hope Arsenal retain the services of Ramsdale. If he had the run of games that Raya had in the first team last season I do not think we would have finished outside the top 2 either. I concede that he does bring more chaos football occasionally but as a shot stopper and general ball playing keeper there is but a fag paper between them both. Arteta and Edu need to earn their corn and convince Arron to stay for at least another season and pledge him the CL and Cup fixtures as an incentive. Serial winners need absolute quality throughout the squad and in DR / AR we have what is required. Moving AR on would be a huge mistake. His enthusiastic approach and his will to win will eventually shine through above Raya and he will get the first team position back again and this fan favourite can then excel

Hi Charles, It is evident that Spain is going to win the Euro's simply because of the depth of quality and I feel it has severely impacted our summer pursuit and signing of Martin Zubimendi whom I hope we are still interested in. However, I would be elated if we signed Dani Olmo and Mikel Merino as well lol. Those two players are simply phenomenal and their experience will be a perfect fit for Arsenal. I am very surprised that we are not looking at Atalanta's Ademola Lookman and Sevilla's Dodi Lukebakio as covers for the left wing and right wing positions. I am all for selling Eddie, ESR, Zinchenko, Reece and Partey simply because with the exception of Partey, the rest will not be missed. I am sorry I am being harsh but that is the truth. Partey I simply want gone because he is a liability at this point and must be moved on. On biereth, some fans just want to moan. We've got 4mil for him and when he is sold by sturm graz, we could get close some more money. And if you add this initial fee to that, then we yave done well for a boy who never played for our first team and left in the last year of his contract.

Biereth was the best striker in the U23 league when we got him from Fulham. He had a better goalscoring record than Balogun etc. He's the most an Austrian team spent since Haaland went to Austria for 4/5m a little bit more than Biereth, he has the potential to be a really good player and we could regret the low fee because the sell on fee wont bring in much because Haaland was sold by Salzburg to Dortmund for only €20m, what's Haaland worth now? It would only make sense to have a buyback clause (first refusal) not a % of a future fee that's going to be peanuts.

As a testament to small margins the famous Canadian Ice Hockey Coach, Scotty Bowman, would compile and share rankings of his teams versus the rest of the league in a number of different categories some obvious and some not so obvious. He would change them every game and he would quiz the players where the team stood. He said that until they ranked 1 or 2 in each category they weren't going to win or compete for the Stanley Cup. He made every team better. It is indeed the small margins.

Charles, can’t agree with you re Raya. He isn’t better than Ramsdale, might have won golden glove but how many shots did he face, he had a terrible shot/save ratio and people claim he is great at crosses, did they see the goals we conceded v Spurs, Newcastle, chelsea and Luton £30 wasted that cd have bought us quality further up the pitch where we need it

This is a long one but if anyone features it, it will be you🤣 I think that managers like Pep and Arteta and some others have referenced taken a leaf out of other top-notch coaches from other sports especially rugby, where margins can be so frighteningly thin especially in the late stages of a tournament. Look at some top rugby teams, some don’t start some of their best players, instead bring them on to close the game. This doesn’t just go for a game, it could be a tournament or season. Then think about Pep at City, his squad use is incredible (sure he has the best, similar to the SA rubgy team) There are definitely parallels, quite a few world class players not playing every game but playing an important part at important moments. I think Arteta is trying to get to that stage squad wise, not there yet but you can see parallels in some positions (LW CM, LB, STR but some maybe forced because of injury and of course I might be wrong about it all). Our best run was with Havertz at 8 and Trossard at 9 and them interchanging between each other and with others but it wasn’t a thing that lasted long, and Kiwior at left back, then just as he was really finding his feet and looking like steel in the market, he goes with Tomi because he and his staff felt it was best. Which brings me to Southgate, a manager who has a pretty good record in tournament football. Could there be more method and less madness? I’m not an England but I find his treatment harsh (just my opinion). I think he has taken a leaf out of the rugby book. Bear in mind, he has a top 3 squad in world football and he knows that (unlike in previous tournaments). He has 3 or 4 magic players who can create moments. He has experimented in the early part of the tournament, trying a few things, keeping faith in some players (not worked out to the naked eye) but ultimately, he has got the results, some ‘lucky’ but he knows he has those special players. I think he would be a terrible club coach but for the international tournament game he might have a clue. Simple example, look at the game against the Swiss, he brought on players that helped seal the game through penalties, I think knowing that it would go to that extreme point. Fine margins, for sure, that hit the post from a corner and were the better side in extra time, no team has won without a kiss or two from lady luck. Maybe there is more than meets the average fan’s eye. Maybe I’m full of BS, anyway love the channel and love to all Gooners, have a good one!

The fact we made money when we would usually lose for free is progress, however we need to still do better with sales down the line

4 Million plus a good percentage of sell on clause is a fair deal. Remember Basel receiving a good chunk from the Calafiori deal. If Mika succeeds we will benefit in the future if not then this 4 Million will be a business well done.

Hey Charles, with all the talk of signing a winger I honestly think Fabio Viera would do a great job with time at the RW spot behind Saka, I think he plays better on the wing, he can drift around and with Ben whites forward ability we won't lose much attack on the wing, and I believe there's better options on the market for a better and proven midfielder than a winger. About Bentley, experience is not necessarily the crucial thing when it comes to a no. 2 goalkeeper. Alex Manninger had no experience when he came in for David Seaman in '97-'98, and he was fantastic. We've also had Fabianski, Szczesny and Martinez in that role and none of them had any real experience at the time.

I don't know how much Arsenal spends on numerous youth development programs across dozens of teams but given they have ex-players as coaches, medical staff, development people,transport, HR people and the people who look after "minors", deal with loans, plus premises and equipment etc. it is likely to be tens of million pounds per year. Do they get that money back ? Maybe they think it is worth that if they get a breakthrough player every five years though I really can't see any youth prospect making a breakthrough now and any youngsters will come from lesser teams who will actually play their youngsters in competitive first team football.

Do you think England playing 60 minutes more football than the Dutch will have a big impact on the game?

Charles I love your content, but you are wrong with Raya/ Ramsdale. Raya cost us in champions league, also in a couple of other games. If Arteta learned to Rotate, then both Goalkeepers could get time, when one makes mistake, swap over. Also if small improvements are what we are chasing, then Arteta needs replacing, he is not a winner, he is a second place manager. Small improvements etc.

16:53 I would hate seeing another young keeper as 3rd choice just wasting away on the bench when they could be on loan developing. At a club like Arsenal the 3rd choice should alway be an older experienced keeper near enough to retirement if financially feasible
