Arteta is trying to run before he can walk, disrespecting the easier trophies thinking he can compete with Man City and Bayern Munich with a team of inexperienced youngsters. He needs to get used to winning the FA/Carabao cup while learning how to actually manage players, learn how to manage big personalities who can score goals. Actually figure out where each player’s best position is and not over coach them… then maybe he won’t crumble in April each year. Smh. Edit - I’ve decided he should learn this elsewhere because he’s had 4 years and £700m to win us something, and Saka’s body won’t survive another season under his insanity. Why don’t we treat Arteta the same way Arteta treated Ramsdale “thanks for getting us here but we gonna upgrade”

It all comes down to Arteta's management of the squad. Doesn't rotate players. Picks his favourites regardless of performance while other players can't even get a look in. Runs the players into the ground week after week, and then we wonder why our 2nd halves have fizzled out late in the season. And to top it off, he expects subs to come on and make an impact when they've had no game time all season.

@@uri-uf5hdIncorrect. No one sensible is expecting the team to win the CL first season back. People are expecting the team to not crumble and go out with a whimper for the third season in a row. 3rd season in a row (4th if you count Olympiakos) where arsenal have played at a certain level all season and when the business end starts the team crumbles and loses to inferior teams. If you think everything is all rosy and there haven't been forming a clear pattern of crumbling at the end the season which is a HUGE problem then you're just deluded.

A concerning pattern in the past two games is Arsenal getting tired in the second half and teams knowing it, waiting it out for the first half and then going for the kill in the 2nd half. Arteta has been figured out and that's a problem for him as he has never offered anything remotely original tactics and football wise. He has been coasting by regurgitating what he learned (copied) from Pep but when that idea gets figured out he has nothing to draw from. After all, you can't imitate originality. The seasons end could get real ugly now as he has been figured out.

Arteta really needs to chill and let the players express themselves on the pitch! It seems like he's micromanaging their style of play. And seriously, why drop out of the smaller cups just to play fewer games each season to boost the chance of winning the league when he has not mastered the fine arts of doign the basic things right? We need all the game time we can get to build a winning mentality with every squad member ready to step up, not just waiting around for the next payday! And those contract extensions for unused players? Come on, Arteta! It's time to mix things up. Terrible terrible performance..... again!

Interesting perspective. Think Arteta winning the Carabou and another FA would have been the setting stone to give some of your younger players the confidence to push for bigger things . Turning your nose down to these smaller cups with that bigger fishes to fry mentality is what is costing your team and you are spot on in the intro about the FA cup losing to us , not being able to beat Emery’s villa home and away , other London teams like Fulham . The positive is that your team have the best defence in the league .

Arteta is done out here he can't guide Arsenal anywhere. We've never ever looked convincing under him for the long run just in moments which gave the fans false hope. In all his years at Arsenal especially his full seasons he literally has NOTHING to show for it other than a bunch of PR. Get this Fraud out of our club before he runs it into the ground and we have a mass exodus of our better players we can build the squad around now as it stands before its too late. If the owners are serious Arteta should be gone and they should be compiling a short list of experienced managers who can actually get this squad over the line because Mikel defo can't.

Couldn’t agree with you more Dan. We have no inevitably in this team and sadly we won’t have any until we get a new manager. Arteta will not buy us someone that will put the ball in the back of the net and will not sell the fringe players that are not good enough in this squad. Even if we sell 5 players, he won’t buy 5 top players to replace them.

Stinky, cowardly performance from Arsenal. Arsenal should just stay in the Europa League... This level is too big for us. A lot of our so called "world class" players such as Saka, Rice, Gabriel, Saliba etc exposed tonight as just very good players. But world class? This is the level you show it. We lost to a Bayern who haven't reached the semi in 3 seasons. And as for that coneman of a manager we have. He is so clueless in Europe it's actually embarrassing. He stands there brooding looking out of his depth. He is, and always will be, the Spanish Brendan Rodgers. The narrative now will probably be "B-b-b-but at least we didn't get smashed like years ago!" 😂 We competed! It's only stage 800 of the process! Arteta out!

The thing about critiquing saka is that he's been judged by standards that he's not at. No where near. He's an average player at best. His rise can be attributed to being English. Simple as...

Average players can compete at least one successful dribble in 180 minutes. Average right winger can put in at least one good cross with their right foot in 180 minutes. Saka has no business in a team competing for top prize. Been paying close attention to Saka for the past three seasons and don’t get the hype.

@antoniusdesir5585 oh don't get me wrong. I saying he's average is putting it mildly to be very clear. He's not a player I would want to play with. He can't dribble, can't hold on to the ball, can't defend. He's just very poor. He's been shoehorned into the team because he is English and has rode on the hype associated with that.

I rarely disagree with Dan either when he's positive or negative. That said, I think we part ways on which of the two tiers of supporter we belong to: the ones who will not accept anything but winning trophies (Potts and Lee Gunner) versus those who discern a semblance of a plan in the fallout from Wenger's trophy laden first decade to the relative decline of his 2nd. Throw in the stadium build which curtailed transfer activity and the subsequent incompetence of Ivan Gazidis in hiring Raul Sanllehi for recruitment plus the club dispensing entirely with its global scouting network led to Arsenal throwing eye watering transfer fees and salaries at mediocrities like Mustafi, Pepe, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Runarsson, Willian, Havertz, Zinchenko, Kiwior, Matt Turner, Tavares, Trusty, Pablo Mari, David Luiz, Dani Ceballos, Mavropanos, Sokratis, Torreira and Guendouzi etc (even those with a modest transfer fee outlay probably quadrupled their previous wages overnight) It took a loooong time to move all those high earning players on. Dan is also correct when he says we need ruthlessness in clearing out the current deadwood e.g. Nketiah, Nelson, Soares, Elneny, Fabio Vieira, Lokonga, and ESR (as a minimum) are all simply not good enough to take us to the next level i.e. winning the Premier League/FA Cup/Champions League. That will take significant transfer investment in proven elite players which will require judicious budgeting to comply with FFP and probably several more transfer windows yet (at least 4 IMO)
