Arrows RC Trojan T-28 1100mm - They keep crashing!

This is my last Arrows RC warbird to try Trojan T-28 1100mm. It does have an odd design but actually it grows on you. Sadly I've experienced some really nasty crashes with all my Arrows RC warbirds so I'm not going to pursue anymore from Arrows RC. In comparison the E-Flite warbirds in similar size works great and I'll stick with them.

I'm a bit surprised that this bird handled that grass so well as the tires appeared a bit small for how tall the grass appeared. Thanks for your honest assessment of Arrows vs. E-Flite with respect to their similar WW II warbird models.

Yes it handles but with wet grass it can be a struggle to get any RC airplane airborne except the bush planes. Still the best Arrows RC airplane to me so far is the Bigfoot. I have at least two more Arrows RC to look at these comings months.

I had a bad start with mine - flying in windy weather and did some stupid things with cameras - but I have since had wonderful enjoyable flights with it and really do enjoy it slow or fast I find it very well behaved and a joy to fly - it was one of my first Arrows hobby aircraft .. nice video , I agree with you the down side is that on wet, long grass it just will not get of the ground due to the Prop clearance... so I save it for sunny summer days......

How you set up and your skill at flying a model makes a big difference. I have 2 Hobby 11 T-28 s (for runner of Arrows) we use as advance Trainers at our club and they are from 2015 when these first came out and are still flying. This is a copy of E-flights T-28 only with retracts and Flaps ? parts like cowl and canopy are the same. the Hobby 11/arrows version is slightly heavier. So it needs a more experienced pilot.

The Arrows warbirds should do 4s batteries to be balanced I believe.

I had the same thing happen with my arrows t28, flying along after basic maneuver it flips over on its back, dives down into a spiral, and I lost it. Don't know why! I sure love flying that airplane too!

Interesting. I found out yesterday from my fellow club members that everyone here uses admiral receivers for arrows planes. Perhaps you should try too, just a thought.

I really like forward programming on the Spektrum system so I wouldn't like to change that. The Spektrum receivers works great in FMS planes so I don't think a change of receiver brand would make any difference. It could certainly be a configuring issue of the gyro but then I only need to adjust the gyro on the Spektrum receivers.

My analyse is a combination of factors. A bit over controlled, a shorter fuse, not correct cg out of the box. It all adds up. So the type of combined manoeuvres I do trigger this behaviour. In contrast then this never happened on the 1.2m E-Flite warbirds.

@@SunriseRCAviator I was thinking maybe you could move the CG forward a little bit. I have many warbirds from pretty much all brands out there. The arrows P47 is my one of my favorite. But yes, I had to put a lot of weight in the nose to balance the CG. And some control surfaces are on the sensitive side. Im not sure if you have AS3X on Arrows warbids. But AS3X would actually help/ worsen with top stalls sometimes. It corrects faster than human pilots. Thus it either worsen the situation during a tip stall, or prevents it from happening.

@@enzok6414 CG should be correct out of the box on PNP planes in my opinion and I did experiment with cg and got it right with heavier batteries. I know a gyro can make spiral stalls worse so that's another thing to look out. In the end the E-Flite warbirds are my preferred models as they hardly ever do things bad.

@@SunriseRCAviator The manual CG range is okay. Just needed a lot of nose weight. These are old FMS designs(Arrows is like a sub-company established & owned by FMS). I guess battery and motor got lighter over time. They didn't change the design to fit lighter batteries. I've noticed you have all of them them spiraling to the left. I think the torque and slipstream might have been in the play of your crashes?

@@enzok6414 In many areas FMS, Arrows and E-Flite looks like they come from the same factory if you look at how they are boxed. Assemble an Arrows RC is more or less exactly like an FMS. Other things that could have gone wrong when they starts to spiral is loss of radio signal, glitch in the ESC or receiver. But it's strange that all four of them have the same spiral stall. Especially since I've done the same aerobatics on almost all my RC airplanes.

Do you think the planes are losing signal, and going into a failsafe setting? Weird you lost three different models, the exact same way. Maybe the ESC is faulty in them.

I still don’t know what happened. Maybe they are ment to fly on 4s and that CG is wrong in the manual.
