Fearless was portrayed as an "action" movie, but its actually quite a thought provoking drama movie.

That is real and true sportsmanship. Holding back that final punch, showing respect to his opponent.

Jet Li was my childhood hero, watched most of his movies when I was in middle school. Needless to say, nostalgia hits hard in this one.

I was expecting 10 out of 10, but after - I rated it 11. :D Even though I wasn't even a teenager back then, I already knew how to behave honorably, thanks to this movie and it's message. ( Which actually a lot of Chinese movies have - A MESSAGE delivered through images )

I really enjoyed Tanaka's character in the movie even though he was only there for a very short time. The guy only wanted a fair and honorable fight. He was amiable and very likable as a rival.

You wouldn't understand how many times I have watched this movie as a kid, I practically have the movie in my head lmaooo Being an adult now with a better understanding on the plot and themes I appreciate this film even more than I did as a kid and to me, Jet Li will always be a legend

This is a very meaningful story. Giving respect to the others is more important than gaining our own prestige. I believe Chinese people can always do this.

Here is a fact: Huo Yuanjia’s descendants were very upset by how their ancestor was portrayed in the film. Huo Shoujin, an 81-year-old grandson of Huo Yuanjia, stated he was unhappy that the movie showed Huo Yuanjia causing "trouble", which led to the deaths of his mother and daughter.

Likewise, but then the Dynasty era imperialism fell to Nationalist rule, which further fell after the world and civil wars into the Communist regime. It's a shame, really. Such a large fraction of traditional, historical, and cultural customs lost, nowadays only best found in the traditional chinese immigrants to other countries for escaping said regime.

Hercules and Tanaka were just straight-up honorable foes. No personal squabbles, just professionals being professional.

Fearless. One of the greatest Chinese movies of all time I remember watching this as a kid

This is my favorite martial arts movie of all time! I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched it. It's truly an experience

This was such a great movie. One of Jet Li's greatest. I wish there were still movies of this calibre today, but sadly, it is a rare thing now.

I watched this movie with my mom long ago. It was such an awesome movie with great, rich culture. Keep up the good work Mystery Recapped!

i remember being super young watching this movie with all my cousins on Christmas the nostalgia is real, such a good movie.

Great review as always. This is probably my favourite Jet Li movie 'Fearless'. Interesting I believe you recapped the extended edition version as a couple scenes (e.g. where he fights the other village leader in defense of the boy was not in the theatrical release). Love the work and keep it up!!!

Crazy how such a good film like this can be summarised clearly with only 12 minutes narrative video. This channel deserve everything that they have done until this point.

It's very nice to see a big fighter be happy and cheer on the guy who beat him. Too often we're forced to watch the big guy act like a bad guy, it's annoying. More big good guys please.

Watched this movie like 3 to 4 times the ending makes me cry all the time and it's one of the movies that teaches that victory and revenge are not everything

"Fearless"(2006) film, had a significant societal impact by presenting a tale that was not just about martial arts but about the deeper values that can guide a person's life. Through Jet Li's portrayal of Huo Yuanjia, the film teaches audiences about the futility of vengeance, the importance of personal growth and redemption, and the true essence of respect and understanding. Hence, making it more than just an action film but a resonant life lesson for society.

That last scene made me tear up a bit.

Being an Indian, i relate with the movie and Chinese people as India was as colonized as Chinese by Britishers. We went through same atrocities. We share a big share of culture and religion. Still we focus more on compitition, and not coexistence. Hope to see both nations together on good terms soon.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan will be the two action film actors that don't get the respect they deserve. Unlike Hollywood where they all have stunt doubles, these two do nearly all their stunts and fighting scenes. Hollywood action films hurt the eye so much. Watch one of these fighting scenes and then watch a Hollywood film. You can tell it hurts the eye to watch the Hollywood one and nothing connects.

Hollywoke uses shaky cams which are too lazy. HK, Korea, and Japan can still make good films with story and choreography. I remember a film where Jackie Chan and Jet Li teamed up to teach a MC a valuable lesson.

This was the last movie where Jet Li played the role as the main character, the rest of the movies that he was in were as side characters. Also fun fact for HEMA guys Anthony DeLongis was in this movie. He was at the beginning fighting with a fencing saber.

The man was OP but he had a character flaw: Pride. His character arc is about him learning how to be humble etc. That’s a good way to handle an over powered character. Rey from Star Wars should of had some sort of character flaw that made her learn and improve.

You can tell this is a work of fiction because this short petite kung fu fighter somehow beat a gigantic boxing brawler lol

I like how movies like this show the duality of man. Also what he did to his rivals family was even worse because it was the son of the fighter he killed that in turn killed his mother and daughter. Jet Li found out who it was after realizing his students had also lied to him, the then shows up at the deceased fighter's house and cuts the sons throat in front of hia family. Pretty dark. Each act of the movie changes drastically though so it keeps a nice pace and makes it interesting.

I remember when I heard about this movie coming out, that it was said to be Jet Li's retirement from making action movies. I dunno if that was true or not, but I recall reading about how he wanted to do less films and spend more time with his family. So this was going to be like a sendoff to him doing period/wuxia films and I think he had cameo roles or did more dramatic roles that were less intensive. I was almost bummed out because I thought he was gonna retire from acting as a whole, but I think the less work he took on kind of made it feel like that.

Jet Li had serious health condition since decades ago. Maybe western media didn’t reported much of his living life. He is still suffering with his condition. Forced to quit from filming and stayed to focus in recovery. He would not be strong as he used to be anymore. He carried a lot past scars and deep injured could not fully recovery to live until today. He nearly lost his life in one tsunami incident at Bali. The one was made into movie starred by Ewan McGregor. Ever since, that become one of the reason he wanted to spent more remaining time with family.

Me: *Gets in wrestling ring with boxer* Boxer: "COME AT ME!" Me: "Alright.." *Will smith slaps him so hard his forehead becomes part of the multiverse* The boxer: *falls onto the ground*
