The guy who got upset about the lore. He blurted out his own lore without asking if his opponent wanted to know. Then asked to know what his opponent's force's back story was and didn't like it. If you're that precious about the lore, don't ask.

Back in the day, when I played Tyranids for a while, I named several of my Genestealer broods after wholesome families from those old 1950's and 1960's sitcoms, e.g. "The Cleaver Family" from "Leave it to Veaver" and so on.

As someone who has yet to get games on (kids come first and all that). I'll be telling people my lore will be evoling with each battle. They'll gave a basic premis but everything about them will be shaped by their adventures and rheir adversaries.

there is a beastman kill team, it's weirdly unique in the game, but i'm pretty sure it's almost pure melee gors with various weapons. As far as the backstory goes, I've met plenty of people who name/theme their models as jokes, and it's always fun! I've also heard serious backstories, both are valid. And yeah, I'm betting the guy thought he was being mocked, which is kinda sad on his part.

Late to the comments for this, but if you haven't seen Office Space it has one of the best scenes ever. I love the whole movie, but I adore this scene. I've done tech support for HP (I have never owned any of their products 😆) and anybody that has seen the movie knows which scene I'm talking about (Geto Boys starts playing...)

Space Wolfs Serious guy might also be a little tilted because of Kill Team's meta, SM Scouts were the weakest team and Beastmen were S tier. Yesterday there was a patch via a balancedata slate where Beastmen were nerfed and Scouts got a massive buff.

The lore guy just lore-dumped on his opponent out of nowhere without starting off by asking him if he even had any at all or what kind he had, so I have zero idea why he was upset when his opponent did the same and it wasn't what he expected. I'm one of those people who has a whole tome's worth of lore for my custom loyalist Luna Wolves chapter, but as cool as I think they are, I never just barf out their lore to unexpecting opponents without being prompted. It just feels rude.

People who take 40k lore too seriously and forget that its all fake absolutely ruin the hobby for alot of folks. It's a game, have fun. I think the office beastmen are awesome. Serious Lore dude's reaction was understandable *and* unacceptable.

"Ruining the setting" is nebulous, some people prefer the old lore of necrons and think new necron lore "ruins" the setting for instance. I'm saying that lore obsessed people can make one's own experience with the setting (homebrew chapter etc) less fun, and can make a game of plastic soldiers less fun in general. I just realized I misred running a setting as ruining and I apologize. Either way, reading more Horus Heresy novels doesn't give one anyone enough gravitas to get hostile at someone for having fun with office beastmen.

I don't remember the exact statement but what's wrong with the warhammer is for everyone thing? Like on a fundamental it seems like nothing to me, just some vague thing about the hobby being open to anyone who wants to be a part of it.

Like what turmeric said, while on the surface the statement is fine, it was more the context in which the statement was released that makes everyone hate it. They released it when they made a ton of changes that were pandering to very vocal, niche groups of people. It was pretty much done to deflect criticism away from their actions and throw it back onto the people rightly calling them out for being disingenuous.

Nothing like gatekeepers pushing away people who are interested in a hobby.

Unsubbed , i guess i outgrew the formula and stopped watching cause of it , but constant re use of thumbnails and no real change to the formula has left me uninterested , you might be wondering why i bothered to leave a reply , but thought might as well leave it in hopes that some change will happen eventually
