Nice conversion. 54 mph is ripping fast. I have heard great things about the Max10. I'm still stuck in the 3s class but if I decide to upgrade I think this would be a great way to go on a budget.

@@spinster4000 the mega lineup has a slipper clutch setup with ceramic pads Search for metal pads on eBay that will help a bit

What do you have the slipper clutch set at (the red thing) mine is at the stock setting and it keeps stripping should I tighten or loosen?

this video had way more "going ahead" than I was comfortable with

great upgrades, that can be used in other vehicles over time, but for the money, I might just start with a 6s typhon... its $480 all in... mega is $220, with another $220 in upgrades....

The advantage of the mega is that its lighter so you can put a high kv motor in it and itll be way faster than the 6s. The 6s wins in being an absolut tank super super strong but it over heats rather quickly even on 4s

I'd get the 6s version it's more durable and I only hit thermal protection one time and it was on 6s and 105 degrees outside

If you want it to be even faster, switch to 32 pitch. I did it to mine and it's insane.

Did you put some shims in your diff. It keeps them from stripping as much. I did it with my 3s and 4s rigs. Saved tons of money on diff gears. I use the Tekno shims.

Hi, is Typhon Mega "base" or Mega v3 version ? i have ready aside Sidewinder V2 and some brushless motor ( i think under 3900kv /3600kx) for run 3s. Thank you ( sorry for my eng ).

we did this swapping out a Arrrma Big Rocks 32kvmotor and esu into this phantom and got it up to 107mph

i noticed the 4k kv motor was rated for 1/10th scare rc cars but it seems that this didnt matter for this 1/8 at all. After nearly a year now how is this holding up for you?

So you paid $219 for the car $179 for the motor= $398 plus the pinion, why not just buy the 3s Typhon for $299? or a 6s for about $50 more. The gears will hold up better, just wondering. I'm thinking about buying one or the other.

We already have he V4 6S we just did this to do it since we got the car as a X-Mas gift but if you are going to buy a car we recomend the 6S great car.

As a new to RC car person, I have been working out the options as you just put them and I am struggling to choose. One thing is the 3s doesn't come with a battery or charger so adding that cost as well for someone that is not sure if they are really going to get into this seems to pretty much double the price of the Mega up front. In my case I believe the battery charger I have for FPV flying will handle my charging duties but a couple batteries is about $80 so still looking at around $400 (I can't find the 3s for less than $320) vs $220 for the Mega. Tough choices for having fun!

I’m nee to cars and buggy, and wondering if it would be less expensive going with the 3s model to start with or go with the 6s? I was doing to start with the least expensive one but also want to be able to upgrade. Thought?

Stock spur & pinion gear? How long did they last? what about the diff's ? are they stock ? how long did they last? The stock gears in the Senton are very weak and a real problem.

Damn how? My granite mega 4300kv 2s brushless broke the input shafts.

I came across this video because I bought the mega - knowing it would not be super fast and have punch. I was disappointed overall with the performance of the brushed motor and should have sprung for the 3s or the 6s. That said it is a very fun car - I don’t think it’s worth it to make this upgrade, just get the big boy and give this to the kids :)

I have the hardest time getting the motor assembly back in is there a trick to line it up ?

Depends what your running in on..on or off road Alot of people upgrade the c-hubs and a-arms. On mine im always having to change the input gear🙇🏾‍♂️

Whats battery did you use in dhat proyect

Probably both. 4s will make the max 8 thermal shutdown

I'm not sure if that's a good deal. that particular model is selling on Amazon right now for about $240, the brustless version of that is selling on Amazon right now for just about $400, either way you're gonna spend just about $400 if you get the brushless version, or the brush conversion and turn it into the brushless version.

So 220 250 for the car with tax plus $179 so 399 and a 4s upgrade?

Engine really! It's a MOTOR! you would of saved a ton by just buying the 3S. So people if your thinking about doing this. Buy a 3S. You'll thank me later.

Geez she screams. I bought the 3s version and I have a Hobbywing max 10 setup.Im gonna order one of those 17 teeth pins and install my radiolink reciever cuz I think the stock radios are kind of junk.I just wanna have that option of running on 4s so upgrading to my 120 amp Hobbywing should do the trick.

If you use the Horizon smart battery 4s 14.4V 30c that thing will go faster than 54

Definitely upgrade the spur gear to 32 pitch. It will make it way better.

@robert carra I bought Hot Racing hub extenders/17mm adapters for my Granite and can now share tires with many of my other trucks. Why didn't you just buy the 3S BLX Typhon for about $100 bucks more than the Mega? I bought a Mega also, but I had spare motors & esc's laying around the house!!!

Why not buy directly the BLX system instead of buying the mega version and then converting it? You can save some $ in that case.

A lot if ran consistently. Itll take it but it won't last long. Id say maybe 1 full battery before it gets too hot and the magnets explode

@@terrywebb4267 mine comes in tomorrow, im a little worried about the camber links and the axel carriers since thats what i mostly break on my slash but my buddy has had his for a long time now and the only thing that goes wrong with his is the pinion grub screw backs out a lot.

A 4000 kv motor is not meant for 4s it won't last at that rpm

Thats a lot of money to drop. Just get a 3s brushless. You are only surpassing my 3s by 5 mph

3s blx will do 57 mph on 3s... with a 20t pinion.

How fast could you go with a 2700kv. I have a spare 2650kv and was wondering.

You should tell me people that the motor is not rated for 4s. It's a shame if the people that watch this video assume that it is en overheat there motor.

cant run a 4000kv motor on 4s without exceeding its max rpm. dont run it full throttle or youll blow it up.

MadScientist are you sure about that? I’m only asking because I myself have no idea I’m new to RC’s and I’ve had my typhon for about 4 weeks now and I want to upgrade to a brushless (I didn’t know arma had a 3s and a 6s otherwise I would’ve gone for the 3s haha)

Cool vid but It’s a motor not an engine.. engines have pistons etc. rc cars have motors common mistake

And you can’t run 4s with that motor. So many mistakes where made here
