That was really useful, thanks for taking the time to put together this video. I got my eyes on a used Mega Typhon, so I'm researching what might be needed to be done to it if I do decide to go for it, ha ha!

Good upgrades did the same thing to my son's typhon mega... upgraded it to 3s.

Nice/clean video on installing upgrades. Just got one of these at the Scratch & Dent sale for $149 so I'm probably going to upgrade it to brushless down the road sometime. Subscribed!

Nice upgrades bro. It should rip. I run mine on a 20t and does close to 60mph.

I switched from a deans to an ec5. Night and day. That deans is a bottle neck. So is the stock slipper.

So some of you noobs might NOT know. Mega, and 3S Typhon have SAME Slipper gear assembly...Same! Also Both use same motor mount...Same! So I can tell you 57T Spur, with 18t-22t pinion @ 08 mod work 100%. If having issues, it's your mesh, or to low powered a ESC. If want a hood 3S, consider the BLX 100 ESC, or you gonna get "Cogging".

Sounds and looks like it's binding no costing at all your motor and ESC will be running hot all the time bad for summer time

But this a old video so I know you already fixed it I bought one to and it felt bindy form the front diff not the spur gear you ... I untighten my front tires and it cost now. Just a headsup on what I did. You are very smart with RC upgrading so I know you know what you're doing. But the my front rims or tightened too tight so the RC never costed

I upgraded my neighbors with a 3660 3300kv and 60 amp goolrc esc, a .08 mod spurgy and 18t pinion and it rips! 48mph. The mod.08 gears are way better than 48p gears, also the motor had a 5mm shaft, so kinda had to change the spurgy to a bigger pitch. It is way more durable. How has yours held up since the upgrade?

Nice that's a great upgrade.mine is still doing good no breaks yet. Did you switch the center driveshaft or added the stabilizer bearing?

@@pgboost neither, I just did the upgrade for my neighbor, and he had it without the center drive shafts. It won't hold up to the brushless motor?

how fast is it now stock is 18 to 20 does that motor any faster it sure looks fast great buggy thanks for the video

what about the big gear its going to shred you have too change it i know for a fact its a different tooth pitch

How come you went with the brushed and converted it to brushless rather than just getting the brushless version? I'm assuming because you're saving money buying the brushed and converting than buying the brushless outright. Is that right? The only other thing I could think was the 3s BLX was on backorder for a few months.

I just upgraded my kids mega to brushless. Bought the Spektrum 3300kv motor esc combo. Car is pretty fun now but when we’re on grass it takes a couple seconds for I guess the car not getting a signal from the transmitter. It only does it on grass not cement. You hold the trigger down and nothing for like 2-3+ seconds then it takes off. Any help? Maybe servo?

For me it was the battery connector. The difference changing to an EC5 from deans was literally crazy. It started doing effortless wheelies. If you’re already running an ec5 idk

If you upgrade it to 4s 17t pinion it rips

I bought this Typhon yesterday and it's my intro to a decent RC. I'm sure the video is informative, but I can't understand what you're saying because the music is as loud as your voice dude.

Awesome video! Can you tell me the motor ESC combo and fan? I have this same buggy and want to do this to mine.

It is a 80 amp esc from surpass hobby and the motor is a surpass also a 3660.pinion is a 17tooth.hope this helps.thank for the view appreciate you.🤜✌️

@@pgboost thanks! I went with a Goolrc 3650 60amp ESC 15t pinion. I turned it into a KRATON and used Big Rock tires. It runs in the low 30’s on 2S and low 40’s on 3S.

Hey sorry for the wait.it is a surpass hobby system. A 3650 kv brushless motor and a 60 amp esc.17 tooth pinion gear.

The MEGA range are not brushless compatible. You need to find and fit and steel Spur gear as any brushless system just rips the teeth off it. So you at the least need to find a Spur that has 32 pitch teeth and not the 48 as the standard goes. Seriously, by the time you have done the "needed" mods you would be cheaper just buying the brushless 3s buggy.

@Mayo Monkey My old 2 wd rusty takes some beating and on 3s all the time and the spur on that thing after changing the hollow slipper shaft pin for a 12mm wheel hex pin it has been bullet proof since and my Arrma senton is holding up pretty good since I stopped any dirt getting into the spur.
