Arrma Typhon 3s Tire Test

Arrma Typhon 3s BLX Ver.3
{ Width measured from outside to outside of tires }
Stock width is 12.5” or 306mm
Proline Trenchers width is approximately 15.75” or 401mm
Arrma DBOOTs width is approximately 11.75” or 298mm
{ Height of tires }
Stock tires are 4.5” or 114.3 mm in height
Proline Trenchers 4.9” or 124.5 mm in height
Arrma DBOOTs are 3.98” or 101mm in height
HOONS and GPS are from Hobby Town
www.hobbytown.com
Trenchers tires and wheel adaptors are from Proline Racing
www.prolineracing.com
Speed achieved on my first run
Proline Trenchers was 48mph (77.2kph)
Hoons were 38mph (61.2kph)
I’m sure I could have probably achieved a better speed if I had more open space but my driving skill are just not that good yet and hitting curbs is probably not the best for the Typhon. 

    I would imagine that the engineers at Arrma selected the tires they did for a reason. I actually think they are best for asphalt surfaces and work good offroad as well. I mostly drive offroad and just like getting better traction so I go with a tire like the ProLine Trenchers. I recently picked up some Proline Badlands and like them even more. Both have the same wheel height as stock. I have had no issues with the drivetrain. The 3s Granite is basically the same platform but with a shorter wheel base and the stock tires are the same as the Prolines mentioned. Thanks for watching and hopefully my comments were helpful.

  • @RCRoads

    @RCRoads

    4 ай бұрын

    Don't laugh. These are trenchers with the rims already mounted and glued from Proline. Ok so... What I did was simply flip the tires backwards and installed the inserts on the opposite side of the rim giving it a wider stance and a deep dish look. It's probably frowned on but I did it on 3 of my cars and have not had any issues. The inserts come in 12mm and 17mm and have all different thicknesses so you can get mor or less offset. I went with the narrow inserts and they lock into the rims the same inside or out. Hopefully I didn't totally confuse you. These are 1/10 Trencher F/R 2.8" MT Tires Mounted 12mm/14mm Black Raid rims. They come pre glued so that's good. They are not the belted trenchers so they do balloon some.

    @@MrSrtman18 The tires should come with hex adaptors included. You need to specify if you want 17mm or 12mm depending on what car your putting them on. The hex adaptors are also sold separately and are very reasonably priced. You could pick up some with different offsets depending on your needs. The only thing you need to worry about is the bolt pattern. Some adaptors are 8 hole and some are 6 hole. I believe the Trenchers and Badlands are both a 6 hole pattern. I have a set of badlands and they are almost the same as the trenchers but they have a more aggressive tread for offroad performance. Best wishes to you on your mods.

    The same here. Speed runs are not really my cup of tea. Too much damage when you hit curbs. I have experimented with using a gyro but that really doesn't seem to help. I guess a big open area like a airport runway would be best. Slowly ramp up the speed and never try to steer at high speed. If your not tracking straight adjust and try again. It's just too much work for the amount of enjoyment in my opinion. Half the time my GPS malfunctions.
