Arrma Kraton EXB, Vitavon front diff housing and steering bearings fitting guide.

Ғылым және технология

Welcome back to WTF Rc Cars,
Today we are fitting the Vitavon front diff housing and replacing the steering bushings with bearings,
The machining on the Vitavon housing is fantastic as always and great colour match for the stock Arrma EXB red anodising.
In the vid I say to put the 2 screws that hold the front hinge pin housing on after fitting the diff housing to the chassis but think on this rc it’s better to screw them in before fitting the diff back on,
Only slight issue was fitting the 2 top screws that hold the top plate that attaches the steering to the diff housing and had to place a little weight on the front of the car to align up the holes in the plate with the diff threads but no big issue.
The fitment of the housing is so good that no shims where needed to stop side to side movement of the diff and the 0.3mm of shims I have placed behind the large inner bearing may be a little over the top but I want to give the input gear the best chance as there not very big teeth and the tighter you can get the mesh the better for these.
Shims used are 13x19 0.1 and 0.2 mm
Overall a great upgrade over the stock housing A++++ to Vitavon on the design of the parts very happy to recommend them.

Just my 2 cents...I dont know about the exb chassis and brace ,but they are in 7075 .... With M2C racing and JustBashIt chassis and brace they both recommand to throw away the tower to tower brace ...

Yeh stock is 7075 but no 7075 that I'm aware of bends like arrma lol, with a good chassis you wouldn't need to top brace so I'd definitely get rid of it with just bash it or m2c chassis :)

Thank you for the informative video. After shimming, what is a good safe distance between the pinion gear and the diff housing? 0.2mm?

My input cups on the diffs wobble. Are there aftermarket ones which are better? It came this way out of the box and I loosened one and re tightened it which made it slightly better but it causes by driveshafts to wobble.

AR330216 BALL 3x5.8x10.8mm (4pcs) Look up this part it is metal ends for sway bar. Retail for $10. It is a arrma part I’m surprised they don’t put them on the EXB.

Please give info on the brands and part numbers for your shims and bearings. I just bought Vitavon for my Talion and your video is A+ and very informative. I just NEED those bearings and shims before I get started trying to do this on my own. I'd really appreciate it...

All the shims I use are stock in the diffs, out side the diff requires no shims in the Vitavon bulkheads, if you need to shim the input gear in the bulkhead I use generic 13x19 0.1mm :)

Shame the new over sized bearing isn’t a sealed one like the one you took out of the exb, just changed all the bearings on my v4 for sealed bearings because the open type always get lumpy and lock up fast 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi, I don't tend to run sealed bearings in most of my RC when I replace the stock ones as the seals are not waterproof anyway and do have higher resistance. I've never had a bearing go lumpy? Do you oil your bearings at all? It's not expensive for good bearing oil and it lasts ages and well worth using :)

I have four Vitavon housings on order and a set of four bearing on the way also. I found even the sealed chrome steel EXB bearings choroded at the seals and caused leaks it's where the water can hang. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/600-699-2rs-STAINLESS-STEEL-RUBBER-SEALED-MINIATURE-METRIC-BEARINGS-FULL-RANGE/361209209933?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=630565813076&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Only if it has the same diff housing as the exb if you download the instructions for both you can check the part numbers :)
