You must really enjoy a challenge, I never seen someone fight around a shock like that in my life, it’s one little screw to just get it out of the way 😂
Was looking for exactly these kind of videos for my Mojave. I’m going to be re-oiling all my bearings and wanted to dig into the diffs for the first time since getting the truck about 4 months ago. Wanted to know what to look for and how to fix anything that should be fine tuned straight out of the box. Haven’t had any diff issues yet but want to avoid any problems in the future. Thanks again for putting the time into this video it’s going to be a huge help

Cheers man, I'm glad it helped
Recently got a kraton 6s v4 as a roller that someone has put most of the exb stuff on it as well as some rpm goodies but hasn't put any shims in yet as they were going to upgrade to exb diffs im not doing that yet so wanted to shim it before I use it and been trying to work what shims I need and just come across your vids there going to help massively 👍👍👍
Thanks mate you saved me from pulling the entire back of the car apart
Another great vid. I shimmed my diffs yesterday it defo seems to have to helped.👍

Awesome cheers, how many shins did you have to put in yours?

Had to go with 2 extra in the rear and just 1 extra in the front. Seems to have stopped a lot of the play.👍
Nice 1
I have watched all your shimming videos, fantastic content, Thanks for taking the time to make them, they are so easy to understand, I have watched, Arrma 6s Diff Pinion Shimming ARRMA KRATON 6S V4 DIFF REBUILD AND SHIMMING And this video, I have decided to get a Arrma Typhon 6S Version 5, Version 5 because hopefully they have addressed some of the quality issues unlike the version 1 Kraton EXB, Mainly because i think the other truggies and monster trucks are a lot heavier and will wear out faster than the the lighter Typhon, Do you know if the diffs on the Typhon V5 will use the same shims as you have linked to in all of these videos ?.

Thank you for the support, yes I believe all shimms sizes are the same just the gears are now hardened to last longer on the v5. The typhon is an awesome buggy and probably the toughest out there due to smaller arms and wheels putting less stress on components so very good choice 👍 😀

@@bournemouthrc4371 Thanks for the reply, i asked Modelsport and they didn't know anything about the shimming, I believe the V5 Typhon comes with some shims in the box now but only 1 type, It is a shame Arrma don't do a better job at the factory so it can be run straight out of the box, Thanks again for all this information, i am just getting back into the hobby after a 20 years break when i had a Tamiya Grasshopper with nickel metal hydride batteries that took forever to charge.
I have a notorious 6s v5 blx it won’t pop willies no more do I have to do this and for the snapping sound to go away
How do I get to that pinion gear tryna change mines rn
Would this be the same process for the front input gear as well ? Thank for the vid.

Yes front and rear are exactly the same

Ty sir. Was hoping to replace it without taking the motor out Thanx.
What about putting a shim on the right side to help keep dirt and grime out? That's where I'm having problems.
@bournemouthrc4371
3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't as that would push the gears away from mesh, I used rubber shielded bearings and it then wasn't a problem.
Do you only shim on one site for a purpose? Like in this video you only do it on the left side it seems.
@bournemouthrc4371

Yes that pushes the crown gear against the pinion to get a better mesh so the gears dont wear out
What rod ends do you run on your shocks?
@bournemouthrc4371
3 жыл бұрын
Rpm short rod ends, made for traxxas but fit perfectly to arrma as well
how are you suppose to know how many shims to put in? in your pinion shimming video you used feeler gauges but in this one it seems you were just guessing
which do you shim first... the pinion or the diff into the housing?
@bournemouthrc4371

I would shim the pinion first then you shimm the diff into the housing. This will give you the best fit

@@bournemouthrc4371 you didnt even put any shims on the pinion. you also never explained how you got to the number of 3 shims for the diff. how do you know its shimmed properly?
What exact size are the shims
you never explained how you got to the number of 3 shims for the diff. how do you know its shimmed properly?
5:19 whats its gonna do is attract dirt to your bearing.
Thanks so how hard is it to get to front input gear to shim it
@bournemouthrc4371

It can be done in place however it's much much easier if you take the front and off

@@dannywalker6279 yes I remove the 2 screws from below but heat them up as they will have lock tight on them
I've gone through 2 rear spur gears and 1 input gear in the rear and have been getting tired of this nonsense i feel like I need to add extra shimms to push my spur gear more closer to my input gear I really appreciate the video and if this dont work send me your address so I ck send you my kraton ill throw it away at this point if I can't figure this out lol.

Lol yes put extra shims there and also check out my video for shimming the pinion, if you do both it should last a hell of a lot longer
