    She said in Chinese (Mandarin): "General, I am on the American side. General, your wife sent me a message in my dream. You should show courage to help save the world. War does not make heroes. In war, there are no winners, there are only widows. »

    I don't see anyone else mentioning this bit of "trivia" so I will: In the movie they don't give subs to translate what she's saying on the phone to the Chinese general as she repeats what he said in the future. They just let anyone that doesn't know Mandarin think that it's something private that no one else would know but the couple. But that isn't strictly true. What the general's wife said just before she died was a quote from a long ago philosopher as a reminder to him to not let his job completely take over his common sense after she was gone. She said "In war there are no winners, only widows & orphans." So when the general hears a stranger's voice asking for him to listen & she says that quote, it triggers both emotion & logic, not just emotion. He realizes she's saying that he's made an error in his logic concerning the aliens, an error that will only lead to everyone losing. Plus then he realizes that hey, that stranger called me from a number that tracks to the US & said something that means a lot to me personally & the only way for that to happen is if there's something else going on I don't understand. Maybe I should talk with my interpreter again, maybe I shouldn't go shoot missiles at the aliens & start a war unless I really have 100% certainty they mean us harm. 😯🤔

Part of the message of the film was Everyone(human And alien alike)coming together and they even noted that the Heptapods had their own flag now. I'm willing to bet there are Heptapod plushies, emojis and happy meal toys. Not only did China stand down, they were the first ones to actually embrace the Zero Sum Game, as the news report mentions that China will share all their info, which Heavily implies(if not out right states) that the rest of the world followed right after. The Heptapods came in peace and brought the mankind together - it would not surprise me if all the nations interactions with the Heptapods are "now" available on KZread for the world to see

    what blows your mind is when you realize she's not seeing the future, she is IN the future, the times we see her there, she's reacting in real time, so when she asks what day it is, it's because thats her from the past asking the question and so on :> She's now technically a 4dimensional being where their life is all a single line they can travel forward and backwards through.

    I haven't read the book, but have seen a comment that in it, the daughter doesn't get a disease, but has an accident. If that's true in the book, then it sounds to me an even greater dilemma, as far as in the movie deciding to have your child knowing she will pass very young of a disease you can't stop is hard enough, but to not only have your child knowing she will pass young, but in an accident, but allowing it to occur anyway, just adds an additional pain point to it. Although if you change the future, that in turn would or could cause issue with other future events. Do you save your own, if it will lead to mass harm to many others by doing so type thing. I know the biggest pain for me is the loss of loved ones and wishing unknown harms could have been prevented, but in some cases they have been things like cancer, so even going back you probably couldn't have done anything to keep it from happening, but you might have been able to made more of the time you did have together. It's very sad though.

    I am so glad that you watched Arrival, my favorite film. You are right when you say that you would get new things when watching again. I've watched a lot of people react to this movie and most fear the aliens and entering the ship. We've been conditioned to expect aliens to be a threat. Many people talk about Louise having a difficult choice to have a child that won't live very long. Almost nobody picks up on Abbott making a similar sacrifice to come to Earth knowing he'll die. The Heptapods unite Earth and save us from destroying ourselves and know they need us later. Not sure how much is a choice for anyone, but Louis does ask Ian if he would change things if he knew the future, so I suspect that choices can be made. She embraces the short time she will have with her child and knows that she can unite the world. I love the exploration of language and the strength of Louise's character. Amy Adams is so good at playing characters with a great deal of empathy and sensitivity. Thanks for watching! I second the request for more Denis Villeneuve. The challenge for your future is to make a film of this quality 😁

    Hi Steve, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Yeah, you're right, many have been conditioned to expect aliens to be a threat, but I think if they had bad intentions they would get right to it and wouldn't play this game of meeting each other to converse, etc. Yes, I also agree with Louise having the child and the Heptapod making a similar sacrifice, although "we" might not really have a choice. Yes, Louise does ask Ian if he would change things if he knew the future, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he actually "could", but again, that's the "Chicken and Egg" thing. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting, and yes, the challenge is to make quality films like that! (:

    Great Reaction again Guys ! - To risk someone having already let you know in the comments, I'll say it anyway. The thing that Louise chose to do, was to fall pregnant & have Hannah, her daughter, even still knowing that she wouldn't grow up into adulthood, & would pass away from a really rare disease. 😓She did it all the same, because she wanted to have the experience of raising a Child & loving daughter. Her husband left her because she went ahead with the birth, even knowing what was to come. "It's my fault, I know something that's going to happen, & when I told your Daddy he got really mad, & he said that I made the wrong choice." 💞

    A lot of people don't understand that she is so calm and goes about her day because she already knows this and knows that nothing happens, everything is ok, she just doesn't know it yet. They think that she is like that because she is sad about her daughter, but that is so far gone and she knows the present and past at the same time already, again she just doesn't know it yet in this time table. Does that make sense? And then throughout the "meeting" they are welcomed into the ship and both of the aliens come forward because they are excited to see her again and exchange what they needed to, but again, she knows this but she doesn't understand this, so they go through the process AGAIN. This Is happening, this HAS happened, it is GOING TO happen, and WILL never not happen throughout the circle of time. No matter what, it will not happen any other way because of the mutual giving and receiving of the "weapon" at the same time. The gift from the aliens and the gift to the humans at the same time, and time DOES NOT exist. The explosion was made by the alien to finally "snap" her out and remind her. Her gift to them was maybe showing them true love and sacrifice maybe? That is why one of the aliens died, because she would have done the same and did. Thoughts?

  • @BossMovieReactions

    @BossMovieReactions

    4 ай бұрын

    Hi there, yes, I agree with that. Once you're able to engage in NON-LINEAR thinking and time ceases to exist, then that would most certainly give you calmness throughout your life. And yes, it IS happening, HAS happened, is GOING TO happen, and WILL never NOT happen throughout the circle of time. Haha, what a crazy thought. I also mentioned in my "Afterthoughts" video that "free will" wouldn't exist in a non-linear thinking scenario. I think her gift besides showing them love is the fact that she's going to save the Heptapods in 3000 years! The way I understood the explosion was that it was set up by humans, but the Heptapods pushed them out in order to save them, no? However, fantastic movie! Hi Noonian, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, especially regarding the audio. It indeed takes a lot of time to get the audio as good as possible. The major problem, of course, is that the dialogue and sound effects are all "baked" into the same track and can't be separated, so every time I cut, I have to try to blend the audio track to avoid choppiness. Also, often we can't use too much audio because of the copyright claims. I'm definitely investing a lot of time trying to deliver the best product we can. Thanks again for noticing, your kind words, and thanks for watching! (:

    One of the greatest films I've ever seen. (and I've seen a LOT of films)... A few things: Louise wrote the words "it (language) is the first weapon drawn in a conflict" (on the helicopter ride, Renner's character mentioned it)... so obviously the aliens picked up on HER description to characterize the word "language" as a "weapon"... Also: I've gotten a little bit of pushback on this, but I truly believe that Louise passed down that "rare illness" to her daughter as she was exposed to the alien atmosphere... it makes sense... It's such a thoughtful, beautiful film...and you realize that the film title could be about the aliens, but more likely it involves the arrival of her daughter... and the arrival of humans being able to work with another species, as well. Wonderful reactions... and I'll mention a few films (I think I mentioned these already, but just in case)... some other brilliant films: "GRAVITY" (starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney) a brilliant space adventure, "CHILDREN OF MEN" (from the same director as "Gravity"... a jaw-dropping dystopian near future tale), "PLEASANTVILLE" (a wonderful film that starts off as a comedy, but quickly evolves into a morality tale about society), and "STRANGER THAN FICTION" (quirky, off-beat story that is absolutely delightful... but also hits you right in the feels with great performances from Will Ferrel (really!), Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Queen Latifah... one of the most underrated films I've ever seen) Cheers!

    Hi John, great point about the language being a weapon. Love that observation! The illness thing could be a possibility, but we just don't know until we ask the writer, I guess. Radicalized soldiers did without permission as a terrorist attack attempt on the aliens. Forrest Whitaker's General character wasn't ordering the attack in that scene. That was a great reaction! Thank you! I know the feeling, Mike … I had countless sleepless nights thinking “what is the meaning of that, or that, or that?” … I understand that Jessica wants to see something scary, or at least something to put her in a different mood … well, what comes to my mind is not scary but a tearjerker that definitely changes the mood of anyone who watches it, no matter how tough he (or she) is - “The Green Mile” (if you guys haven’t seen it already, that is). I’m only not sure if it should be watched right before a great comedy or right after - that is the only variable left up to the viewer … as the mood changing issue definitely remains for everyone. Anyway, if you haven’t seen it already, it would be an addition to your list you might want to consider. On a side note, as I heard Jessica saying she likes military outfits, I think it would be amazing if you guys would have the occasion to someday visit the alley of angels - the whole background is also a huge mood changer … here is just a little taster of what such an experience would bring: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pneXp6OOoJm0aKQ.html Again I thank you for your great reaction and I am looking forward to the next one. Hanna is a child in the scene where Louise takes the new book she wrote about the Heptapods language out of the box.(which means she wrote it AFTER they left). Hanna was 14 when she died according to the time frame. The world would ALREADY be saved more than 2 years before Hanna was born plus another 14 more would pass before she would die of cancer. Hanna wasn't sacrificed for anything. Sorry.
