    I LOVE THIS PLANE !!! A joy to fly. But since it is so light, be prepared for some bumpiness.

    Very interesting video, very detailed. Very happy I just purchased the sinus 914 model with 260 liter fuel tank. I think the range can easily exceed 3500km, but unfortunately I am in China and the sky here has too many restrictions. I look forward to flying around the world with it one day.

    Fantastic plane I own the sinus in this video with the eagle on fuselage based in South Australia Have enjoyed many hours of great flying Thank you to the person that took the time to put this together as to the people commenting on name when I visited the factory and did a flight with there test pilot and commented about the name virus he stuck his chest out and said that was my suggestion because like a virus it is hard to stop you will want to go again and again He was right If you want to see our full video type in Pipistrel sinus South Australia Look for eagle on wing enjoy

    The name leaves much to be desired. Sweet-looking plane though. Although I was always partial to low-wing acft, I really like the visibility of a high-wing.

    Interesting- my club has just bought one of these. A bit more fragile than our trusty Cessna but sexy if you like Garmin cockpits (I don't). Looking forward to learn to fly this thing - our 50 year old Cessna having become unsustainably expensive to maintain. We have taken the spats off a) because we operate from a runway with an arrester cable on it and b) to enable landings on grass strips..As to your informative video - it might be better to quote speeds and distances in knots rather than mph. I don't know what we paid for it but I doubt that it was half what you quote as a second hand price (it is ten years oldn apparently).

    Can a pilot in United States build up 1500 flight hours in this aircraft? I was told Mesa Airlines has an innovative program and they are using these planes to build a flight time but I thought the LSA was a different different category from the PPL rating.

    This aircraft (VIRUS SW ) is certified and is used for PPL training, i am currently doing my PPL on VIRUS. So you can build hours with it.

    Throughout this video he is saying Virus SV. It’s not an SV it’s a SW. Probably confusing for many viewers

    its Slovenian, so European pronunciation would suit better, i thought. In Europe this plane is indeed SV, like BMW is Be Em V, not be em w, as pronounced in US

    Why do you pronounce the designator 'SW' as 'Ess Vee'? Is this a nod to the German (and perhaps Slovenian) pronounciation?.

  • @bigmetalbirds

    @bigmetalbirds

    Because thats how we pronounce the abbreviations here in Europe. I usually research the correct pronunciation for US made planes, but for the Pipistrel, i pronounce it as I heard from pilots i know. Its like BMW, we call it Bee Em Wee, or Bee Em Weh something like that :)
