Budget or Luxury? What is Accommodation in Sri Lanka like?

We've just spent 2 weeks travelling around the beautiful Pearl of the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka. (You'll find all the details of this in my 3 part vlog series). Before leaving on our holiday, Sri Lanka was a completely unexplored land to me. I’d seen pictures of mountains, ravines, rugged beaches, misty jungles and national parks with wildlife like leopards and fruit bears.
However, I had always suspected that there was an element of ‘overrepresentation’ when it came to advertising and promotion and I wasn't sure what value for money I could expect. Were the online photos representative of what we would actually find once we arrived?
We decided to stay in some very budget hotels (on nights that we came in late and left early), some moderately priced accommodations for 2 night stays, and finish with two luxury stays in both Mirissa Beach and then Bentota Beach.
I hope to show you what you can expect both inside the hotel rooms, within the accommodation facilities and the outside nature and landscapes.... as well as showcase some more of this majestic country as we move around it.

Hi Amanda I think the $340 a night at Taj is kind of steep for Bentota . The Big boys Cinnamon And Heritance might have given you a better deal . A hotel on the hills overlooking the Kandy lake would have been a better choice. I have worked in hotels and restaurants through out career in SL Dubai Switzerland and the Us. Switzerland is the bench mark for hotels. Keep smiling love from Florida

at last after watching few videos about Sri lanka before in this video some one actually goes to a 5 star hotel . I think Sri lanka needs to end bringing low budget Hippies from all around the world

@@TheLensCapChronicles Sri Lankan American watching from the U.S. We did a 9 day tour of the island with 14 Australians in 2019. The guided tour was by Insight Vacations. Their selection of hotels were all 5 star level. In Colombo we stayed at the Cinnamon Grand. Very central location. Great accomodation and food and service. Reasonably priced. They have a great outdoor pool. Cinnamon Lodge in Habarana was outstanding.Other places visited were, Negombo, Kandy, Nuwara Eliys and Galle. Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa. Love to visit the northern province, but there aren't many tours available. 🙏

Cinnamon Lodge at Habarana, has private elephant safaris that is an optional part of the tour offered by the hotel.

I hope the 14 Aussies were well behaved 😉 There are some amazing hotels in Sri Lanka and sounds like you experienced some wonderful ones. Perhaps you could consider getting a private driver to the northern regions? It allows for greater flexibility and we found it to be a great way to see the country. I’d have loved to have more time to visit the north! Thanks again!
