Hi Ben! This is Hector Berrios sending a big thank you for a job well done. You really took a deep dive researching the material to post a detailed version of what transpired during his off-season. I’m happy for Aroldis, to show the type of athlete he is back on the MLB stage. Thanks again Ben, and keep up with your amazing work.

Hector told me that one of the big things he worked on him with was that he was landing too closed, and he opened him up more. You can see it here in these side by sides too.

That’s one of the first things I noticed but wasn’t sure if it was just a by product of rotating better or intentional. Thanks for the insight

you beat me to it! seems like opening up some helped his right leg to brace better. with the yankees his right ankle sort of wants to buckle to where his lower leg wants to take the knee to 3rd base side. now his lower leg visibly tilts toward 1st and stays that way til long after ball release.
Back on the juice.
I’m the same height as Chapman and a LHP with a similar build and always used him for a reference in delivery. Him getting that horizontal in the hinge is insane 🤯. Great breakdown
I’m a PT working with a MLB pitcher that’s working with Hector in Florida. Hector’s system is legit, if there was a PhD in pitching he would have one.
Chapman has incredible flexibility and has a baseball strength. This guy is just strong. Leg presses 900 and arm curl with curl bar with 2-45 lb plates on each side and does it for reps. It very much reminds me of Nolan Ryan when he went to the Rangers and House change his workout program and Nolan got more on strength program and added more mass but increase his body speed. Glad to see Chap getting it together again
Hey Ben, My name is Francois Castillo & I’ve been subscribed to your extremely helpful content for years now, I’ve learned nearly all of my pitching mechanics through your mechanical breakdowns on other pitchers. I actually have done 1-2 lessons with Scott F…When he lived in Illinois.. I’ve been up to 99 with the help of just watching your free content, as unreal as it may sound.. I would love for you to do a breakdown on my favorite pitcher Jhoan Duran! It’s amazing how consistent his 4-seam has been at 101 mph this year compared to 99 last year!
Chapman has one of the most beautiful deliveries out there.

With a little career with music , I can say for sure that going through the motions slow with a band would be incredibly beneficial, learning your body and feeling the muscles you are using in your delivery can give you a better idea or “que” to feel that stretch or separation. I love the idea! Edit: I also noticed that the band straightening his leg after his drift is a lot similar to shoheis as it keeps their hips closer giving them more room the wind their shoulders.
Hell yea! Great breakdown! Hector is the man! I know this was mostly about velocity but you should see some of the stuff Hector is doing for his MLB guys as it pertains to command. Mind blowing stuff. I hope you get to pick his brain on that on the podcast too. Nice video clip in the middle by the way 😉

Great Breakdown!
This breakdown is gold
Chapman is that rare talent that just doesn't give a shit all the time. When he does, he's electric which i put down to him being in a reliever/closer roll. he's bored when he goes for several games without pitching.
Man’s got a dumper
Your eyes amazing I couldn’t even see that till you pointed it out 👏🏾👏🏾
Great break down. Thank you! I would love for you to break down Gerit Cole from last year to this year on how he has avoided the HR ball so far this year, which seemed to have plagued him in years past.

Mr. Brewster, could you recommend a good drill for dropping lower onto the drive leg.
i'm curious where he will be at the trade deadline....i'm thinking Texas if they're still in the hunt.
I love it . Hey Man, Would you please brake down Noah Syndergaard before TJ and after TJ? I 'm very sad to see him throwing very sad.
Your analysis is some what right, at 5:20 he is pushing/extending more the back leg in the 2nd frame vs the first frame.
He doesn't look out of shape like he was with the Yankees
god damn thats fast

Squat and overhead press for strength, stretching for mobility. I'm 42 and i throw harder than i did in my 20s because of this. The snatch and clean and jerk may be the most overlooked movements in all of strength and athletic training.

Mobility and range of motion is the key when you get older. . The strength is there, that's why stretching and warming up is so important
It makes a lot of sense to me that Mr. Hector emphasizes going slow at first when fixing technique! In music, we must practice very slowly when a fundamental change is made to our playing technique. The body likes slow. Slow means it can process everything. Then it can gradually speed that new process up! I dunno, just a musician's perspective on this cool subject.
I've used a lot of what Hector teaches and it's really helped me and my pitching students
Can you please do a breakdown on alek monoah and why he's struggling a little bit this season. Please?????
Now, can someone tell Jacob deGrom he throws too hard please? you can still have an effective two main pitch arsenal and dial it back 2 mph so you're not always ripping your arm apart every time you throw...
good feed
I would love a breakdown of Zac Gallens mechanics. He's one of my favorite pitchers in the league right now and his arm speed is incredible.
Chappy is a regular season stud. Nothing more.
That giant leg extension reminds me a bit of Satchel Paige
4:59 we can see Chapman's leg days paying off
He also SEEMS both stronger and move flexible.
Remind me of Kenly Jansen's wind up when he unloads with that right leg
Crazy how i found this video 2 hours after I was arguing with a guy about the same thing you talked...
Definitely need to get hector on a podcast asap
You brought up the age thing with power pitchers. If you haven't already done a video of Nolan Ryan. That would be a good one for people to see since he was still breaking 100mph into his 40's. Randy Johnson would be a good as well and for the same reason. He was over 40 for a power pitcher.
Chapman is the beast 💪
A guy I have been watching for the last year or so is Josh Staumont, if you could do a breakdown of him that would be awesome. He has some of the cleanest mechanics (when he's right) I've seen, and I use clips of him to compare against other guys when I'm trying to figure something out.

His velo fluctuation is kind of weird though. I remember he was averaging 99 in 2020 and topping out at 102. Then in 2021 he lost like 2 mph on average and only topped out at 98. 2022 he lost more on average but got back to topping out at 102. And then this year his velo is down to 96 while only topping out at 98
Had no clue he plays for the Royals now. I’m from KC and I might actually start watching baseball lol
chapmans got a GYAT
The crappy thing is we never have a lead late so he can save a game for us. Or a lead at all. Gonna be a rough 20 years for us in KC
Back to his old mechanics! Big change from last year.
Looks like that new load is allowing him to create more rotation before release
Off season training with A-Rod.
He almost faces 180 degrees before throwing in between the twist and the drop 😮
Aggressive loads through the backside >>>
Good
Carlos Rondon Next🔥
I feel from these clips , he may be getting a little more layback as well

Your own mechanics or a big leaguer's mechanics?
His shoulder follows through the whole motion with the ball. Vs him opening up before the throwing motion is complete.

The post Yankee exit is real
Justin Verlander has resurged also, the guy is 40 and is pitching like he's 29 again🤣 Verlander was finished it seemed at 31 years old with a 4.54 ERA and somehow at the age of 39 he has an ERA of 1.75, 18W and 185 strikeouts🤔 Not trying to imply PED use, just seems strange.
looks like he is holding the ball longer in his hands.
Damn Chapman thicc
LEGS!!!!! Run 5 miles every other day! Weights!!!... Working back of shoulder!
He’s also in better shape I also think respecting the game helps performance Many times the money, power and fame was all almost gone with the domestic violence situation Then you go do your job and you can’t, the baseball field is no longer a sanctuary Life will humble you, it’s either you embrace it or fight against it

His avg fastball velo was down 7%. That is the same as a guy going from 92 to 86 back to 92. Given the scenario it is feasible. It would be different if he never averaged 100 until now,
