    These went right in. Very easy. The nightmare from the last ones that didn’t fit had me worked up. Even the passenger side was easy with all the air box and things in the way.

    I wish it was as easy as it appears in the video... However, it took my son and I 4 hrs to change them, not too bad considering the amount of work to be done. One specific note I would add is that you should lift both front wheels off the ground and onto stabilizing jacks. Then remove both wheels and loosen both sides of the strut so the wheel carriage will drop easier. You will still have to put downward pressure on the wheel assembly to install the new Magna Shocks. I like the Arnott brand as replacements. In my 2018 Suburban Premium, there are a lot of cables and hoses on the passenger side that need to be negotiated or temporarily pushed aside or disconnected and moved. Take pix before removing anything. It will take two people to install the new shock assemblies, one up top and one pushing them up to the top. Very doable project if you have time and patience. I saved over $1200 from what my shop wanted; the dealer would have been even higher.

    These really were as easy to install as shown, but the ones that did not fit that I returned were not. They were too big (made a separate video about them). A second set of hands definitely helps kzread.info/dash/bejne/lmSG0sRsipfFZNI.html

    I am doing this today. Choose the SK-3354 Arnott Struts since this is my second replacement of the Magnarides and I do not want to have to do this again so I am going with the non magnaride replacement which I think will last a bit longer. (First time was under warranty because we bought the 2015 Tahoe from a dealer and I got the warranty. They gave me all kinds of shit about how we had abused the car. What a load of crap.) Now it has 187K miles on it. I will let you know how we do and comment later tonight.

    Completed it last night! Works great. Seems to be working just fine. By far the biggest problem was getting the electronic connection apart on the right hand side. I went from the top. I did not remember you saying try from the bottom. Probably would have been better from the bottom. There are a lot more wires, and AC stuff in the way on that side. I am no expert so I was grateful for the video. Would never have done it without the video. Thanks again for taking the time to do this. Saved me at least a thousand dollars.

    Danny - you did a great job on the video! I've been researching and you cemented my decision to go with Arnott over TRQ. On 1A auto, the TRQs look like they will fit the bill, but one of the answers in Qand A say they are not Magnetic fluid but air. After seeing your video, Arnott's website has a section on it. Also, the TRQ video shows them removing the skirt in the wheel well, I love how you did the nut removal from the top avoiding the wheel skirt. Time saver! Note: while researching, someone said you can test to see if the magneride is bad by just disconnecting the connectors on the top of the shocks (assuming ride stiffness is the symptom) Did you try that?

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    Жыл бұрын

    I did not try testing it since I could see the strut was wet, so knew it had blown out. I wasn’t getting any suspension errors on the dash, so I don’t think the Magneride had any problems. You can certainly try it. If it gives you a code you’ll probably need to disconnect the negative battery terminal for a few minutes to reset it

  • @paulplauche7779

    @paulplauche7779

    Жыл бұрын

    @@dannyjohnsonsgarage I tried disconnecting it after posting the comment and the ride DEFINITELY was not so harsh. Prior to this, I had a 2015 Tahoe LT with normal suspension (vs current 2018 Tahoe LTZ w/ Magneride) so I know the difference in suspension. While I agree the magneride is much more 'adaptive', I'm willing to give up the slight difference in adaptiveness from LTZ to LT due to the reliability of the strut assemblies. History: I owned a 2015 Suburban LTZ at one point and had replaced them at the dealer for $3,000. That and the fact there are so many posts/videos about it tell me the reliability isn't there. At this point, I decided to order the shock simulator kit by X-engineering and their suggested Monroe brand regular LT shock replacements from Amazon. Thanks for your responsiveness and all your help.

    I called Arnott even though they don't advertise it or say it the MR-3840 is the one you want if you want true MRC. The rep stated that due to weight considerations most likely due to a long wheelbase model (I'm thinking later years) possibly having the larger engine 6.2/6.0 and heavier front they don't advertise it but if you have the 5.3 you can most likely use the MR-3840. Point of fact the SK-4261 coils are the same as the MR-3840 Eibach coils (per the rep) so why are the good enough for passive but not MRC on the Suburban. I forgot to ask the rep if it was due to engine weight difference. Or it could be a screw up as Tahoes also employ the 6.2 but still qualify for the MR-3840s that have the same coils as the Suburban's SK-4261 's

    @silversnowut

    4 ай бұрын

    @jeremiahhernandez9725 Yes, but I would reconfirm with Arnott for a few mins finding the right ph # plus some hold time never hurts. Ultimately you can also buy genuine AC Delco struts on Rock Auto and have an indy shop just swap them out and keep the original coils if you dont want the fully loaded (Arnott) assembly (coil+strut preassembled together). GM will not sell u such an assembly. You will not need an alignment, in either scenario, as the struts and coils have nothing to with road alignment, etc. I went the strut only route that's what GM reccomends as your coils are still good.

    I haven’t had any issues with mine. I’m not 100% certain, but I’ve heard the plug at the top of the strut is just a dummy resistor to tell the system all is okay, and doesn’t even do Magneride. If so, they may be able to send you a new plug portion that leads to no where. Perhaps contact them to find out.
