Armenians Wary About Impact Of New Road To Nagorno-Karabakh

Ethnic Armenians face the prospect of their villages returning to Azerbaijani control after 30 years of Armenian occupation due to a new road being built connecting Armenia with Armenian-controlled areas in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Really! Russian soldiers have been protecting Armenia's border, 3 million people, against 90 million Turkey for 30 years. Unfortunately your Velvet Revolution leader was anxiously taking them to EU, Russia's and Iran's adversaries and betraying them. Russia could not intervene, the war was not with Turkey. Russia could not intervene in Artsakh, NK, because internationally it was still part of Azerbaijan and then Turkey would get involved, something that the West want - a war between Russia and Turkey. Russia intervened when this leader, apparently, had asked NATO to come in. Iran would have to get involved also in that case. Armenians cannot have it both ways; when they are happy they turn their back to Russia, and when they are in trouble they expect Russia to run and help them.

The same was repeated about a few weeks after the war by another EU rep. Unfortunately, some Armenians cannot move forward from 1920s and what happened. Not knowing the reality of the history of the region. European powers for the last 150 have been trying to bring their bases to that region - against Russia. The West brought Velvet Revolution to Armenia, the same happened in Georgia, Ukraine etc.....Russia already had/has a big base in Armenia. The initial conflict started because there were rampant progroms against Armenians living in Azerbaijan. Nagorno-Karabakh had been a part of Armenia for a very long time before the Soviets, in their infinite wisdom, transferred it to Azerbaijan in the USSR. By the 90s it still had an ethnic Armenian majority, but a significant Azeri minority. Almost all the Azeris had to leave when Armenia conquered Nagorno-Karabakh, and were kept in squalid conditions while their beloved president lived a life of luxury off his oil profits. If those Azeris had seen even a fraction of the wealth of the Aliyev family filter down to them, they wouldn't need to return to NK, but that wouldn't be politically advantageous to Azerbaijan.

So called Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomic Oblast, was later artificially created area by Soviets, which comprised only a fraction of entire Karabakh, and that is the area where most armenian population was concentrated. @@veritasintegrity5054 The region was part of the short-lived Transcaucasian Republic. Then it was occupied by the Ottoman Empire, who, fresh from their horrific Armenian Genocide, obviously handed it over the Azeri authorities. The Azeris installed a governor. When the Ottoman Empire collapsed the region was occupied by the British who simply allowed the region to be continued to be governed by the Azeri governor without accounting for the wishes of the locals, as was the practice of the imperial powers back then. When Armenia and Georgia were invaded by the Soviets in the 1920s they affirmed control to the Azeris with a compromise of internal autonomy. As Azerbaijan and Armenia were effectively part of the same country anyway, they accepted this compromise. If we're going on Ottoman and British imperialism as a legitimate form of territorial claims, then yes, it's "always" been part of Azerbaijan. But the vast majority of the people there were Armenian, and had always been, and after the events of 1917 they didn't want to be ruled by a Turkic people ever again. If we're going by the UN defined right to self-determination then NK should've been given to Armenia. In the late 1980s there were widespread pogroms against Armenians in Azerbaijan. As usual the troubles of the Turks was blamed on the Armenians as fifth columnists. Their safety line of having the neutral ethnic Russians to intervene and save them from Turkic violence had been cut off. So yes, obviously the Armenian army occupied what was by all accounts a part of Armenia. What's most ironic of all here is that Azerbaijan is now calling Armenia a historic province of theirs. After years of whining about illegitimate occupation, of baseless territorial claims over self-determination, they are now doing it themselves. Since the Russians have been distracted by their pointless war in Ukraine their presence in the region is weak and Azerbaijan has begun occupying border regions of Armenia. Hypocrites.

This kind of conflict about 'who owns the road' - used to be a common thing in the United States. Our solution has been to auction off the right to vend fuel and other consumables near the road, such that the government can always hold a new auction as a financial charade to stymie argument. The problem with applying that solution to this situation would be: The difference in language and toponymy, between Azeri and Armenian, when people ask for directions during commerce. In resolution, the government can make the market into a mosaic, so that the selection of products and services takes from the whole map of NATO countries, not just the Turkey-Finland-Azerbaijan stereotype - but also French and American similars; such that a new product can be introduced as a common referent for spoken parole. The ethnic conflict there means that you can't keep holding a new auction for a lease or a permit, perhaps the government did that too much. They can introduce a new product, and focus-group a new conversation, to help amend historical grudges.

10 Well, this morning, I want to talk about the subject: "If you are a Christian, then who is your Prophet?" For many of you, it is the first time you hear this question! And yet it is a question you could have heard every day, but the devil has removed it and replaced it by: "If you are a Christian, what is your church?" We are in the fifth dimension with marabouts, Catholics, Rosicrucians, Protestants, evangelicals, Branhamists and voodoo practitioners. And now, by habit, we all speak the language of the fifth dimension, we think and see things after the fifth dimension. 11 When I saw the other side of the curtain in the vision of 1993, a detail had escaped me when reporting it. Perhaps time had not yet come to speak about it. I have recognized the lot of Methodists but as for the other groups, I asked: "These ones, what church do they belong to?" And someone answered me: They are Catholics. And I said: “These ones over there, what church do they belong?” And he answered: They are Baptists. Then, they are Pentecostals, Presbyterians or others. And when I saw another group again, I asked: And those ones, which church do they belong? And they answered me: They are from such and such church. 12 Andwhen I saw the city surrounded by a Cloud, I said: "What about those over there? What church do they belong to?" And I was told: "No! You don’t ask that question there, it is on this side that you can ask such a question!" And I was told: There also, there are several Groups but it is another and only one question and it is: "Who is your Prophet? Or who is their Prophet? ".[Ed: The congregation says, Amen!]. And on the other side, there were no Catholic, Protestant, evangelical, Branhamist churches. And I was told: "what church do you belong to? It is on this side that you can ask such a question. But over there, only one question is asked and it is: Who is their Prophet?" nobody says: "what church do you belong to?" but "Who is your Prophet?" 13 The city was spreading farther than eye can see and there were gates and on the gates and lintels and the Frames of the gates and posts, were names of men as in Revelation 21:12-14. Not church names but men names. They were not in time or in a generation but they were in the eternity. And in the eternity, the peoples of each generation or each epoch had one and the same Prophet. Whatever the country or the place of the world where those elect were, whatever their country, continent, race or language, they had the name of one and the same Prophet for an epoch! 14 At a certain epoch, 800 years before The Lord Jesus Christ, the sons of the devil were scattered and had lot of leaders: some bishops, some reverends and so on, as we see it today. But the sons of God had only one leader, Prophet Isaiah. Whatever the place where the sons of God were, their prophet was only one all over the world. And it was Isaiah the living prophet of their time. From generation to generation that was always so. And the prophet of each was the prophet of his time. 15 And in the eternity, for one and the same epoch, two people cannot have two different prophets. There was no other building but only one Building was there and spread farther than eye can see. I understood that the two places that I saw are on the one hand the Paradise and on the other hand the region of the lost. 16 In hell, they are church names whereas in the Paradise they are the names of the prophets of God, epoch by epoch.[Ed: The congregation says, Amen!]. Then, I have understood that on earth, it is because we are in the fifth dimension that, when we see somebody with a Bible in hand, we ask him: "If you are a Christian, then what church do you belong to?" But in the Paradise or under the altar, each Prophet is with his Lot. And what we see here on earth, that is what we will see in Heaven! The testimony of God in the Bible, are the prophets and their Message, and this testimony is that of the Paradise and eternity! Whereas church names are the testimony of hell and the fifth dimension which is the region of the lost and of nightmares! At the Beginning, things were not the way they are. It is an enemy who has done that. 17 God says: my son, if you are a Christian, then who is your Prophet? But Satan says: my son, if you are a Christian, what church do you belong to? God says: "You, Baruch the son of Nerijah, who was your Prophet on earth?" Satan says: "You, Baruch the son of Nerijah, what church did you belong to on earth?" You see? Apollos was a Christian and he was the disciple of a living prophet called John the Baptist on earth! But you, if you are a Christian, who was your Prophet on earth then? Mary of Magdala was a Christian woman and she was the disciple of a living prophet called Jesus of Nazareth! She spoke with him, she ate with him, she walked with him, she cooked food for him! But you, who was your Prophet on earth? Timothy was a Christian on earth and he was the disciple of a living prophet called Paul of Tarsus! But you who say you are a Christian, who was your Prophet on earth? And at the judgment, you will answer this question. God will tell you: "Of all those that I sent on earth, which one was your Prophet?" WWW. Philippekacou. Org

There is a substantial error in the report. The whole conflict was initiated and controlled by Russia. Russia has armed Armenian and other criminals to invade and occupy Azerbaijan, Russian tanks and air forces were killing both Armenians and Azerbaijanis in order to escalate the war. The bloody massacre in Khojaly was fully organized by Russia and committed by the 366th Motor Rifle Regiment of Russia, while Russian tanks massacred Armenian villages in order to escalate the hatred between both nations at the same time. I do not understand anybody - especially the press - who call Russian troops occupying Karabakh as "peacekeepers". Russian troops are not any "peacekeepers" (they have never been) but sadistic murdering robbers and occupants, as we can see in Ukraine every day.

@Charles Fly, I agree with you about the Russians not being peace keepers but this idea that the war was initiated by them is ridiculous. When you invade a nation's internationally recognized territory and ethnically cleanse 800,000 of their people from it, you think that might have had something to do with them coming back to reclaim it? Thankfully unlike the Armenians did in the 1990s the Azeris didn't go full ham killing civilians after they won.

@@williamdavis9562 Armenia invaded Nagorno-Karabakh to protect Armenian civilians from a wave of increasingly violent anti-Armenian progroms in Azerbaijan that started in the late 1980s. In the latest war many Armenians left before the Azeris got to them, as evidenced by them burning the villages to the ground for scorched earth. The Armenians that were unlucky enough to be unable or unwilling to leave were tortured to death, including one caught on video of an elderly man being decapitated with a knife by Azeri soldiers. Many civilians were shot too. The entire thing is horrible and a shocking waste of human life. It is certainly part of the Turkish-Russian competition for influence in the Caucasus and Syria.

@@williamdavis9562 The fact that the whole war was initiated by Russia is not ridiculous at all. In 1986 Russia was very well aware of its coming economical collapse and craving of many occupied, oppressed and looted nations (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Chechnya, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Tatarstan, Ukraine, Bashkortostan, Moldovia etc.) to get rid of Russian barbaric supremacy. Russia decided to prevent the dissolution of the empire called „U.S.S.R.“ by its standard method: To stir up hatred between population groups, to provoke skirmishes, local conflicts and war. The war plunged the warring parties into absolute dependence on Russian arms and ammunition supplies and created space for occupation and looting by the Russian army. This is exactly what happened in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenian criminals were beeing armed by Russian and Czechoslovak arms since 1986 (see Thomas de Waal: Black Garden: Armenia and Azerbaijan through Peace and War) still during the existence of U.S.S.R. when any illegal import of weappons was impossible and Moscow had the only monopol on distribution of weappons. Starting a war was not easy and required considerable brutality, thorough psychological preparation and massive disinformation, to which many western politicians and journalists are still subject today. There was no major conflict between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in the 1980s. Both were strongly interconnected by intermarriage and practically no one knew anything about Karabakh (it was not taught in schools). In the economically ruined USSR, everyone was so concerned with bare existence that no one was in the mood for conflict. Misery drove people into the streets to demonstrate against the Kremlin. Provocateurs skillfully get the crowd to shout "Karabakh! Karabakh!" without anyone even knowing what it means. (See above Thomas de Waal: Black Garden..) It is not hard to guess that these skillful provocateurs were trained and deployed by Moscow. If they were not, the KGB would have eliminated them immediately. Traditionally, Russia created terrorist groups made up of sadistic rapists, mostly prisoners (SRP) from all over Russia, who were promised benefits. SRP troops were first formed by Lenin, Trotsky and Dzerzhinsky to unleash terror in Russia itself in December 1917. Since then they have been regularly deployed wherever Russia needed to provoke conflict (Afghanistan, Abkhazia, Georgia, Chechnya, Syria, African states, Ukraine etc.) (see Katamidze Slava: Loyal Comrades, Ruthless Killers: The Secret Services of the USSR 1920's to the Present). The Sumgait massacre in February 1988 was carefully planned by Russia and committed by organized SRP gangs to successfully stir up hatred of Armenians. This massacre was massively popularised by Russian (Soviet) propaganda in order to create aversion against Azerbaijan. Later, in january 1990, SRP gangs unleashed the January Massacre, which was well prepared and timed by Russia to justify the invasion of Azerbaijan by Russian troops 20th January 1990. Russian propaganda naturally screamed that Russian army had to prevent killing, but in reality it did not prevent anything, but only occupied Azerbaijan in order to prevent the National Front from taking power and throwing off the yoke of Russian domination. Russia has unleaded etnic cleansings on both sides. In April 1991, Russian Communist Party leader Mikhail Gorbachev ordered the execution of Operation Ring, in which the Russian 4. Army massacred dozens of Armenians (hundreds wounded) and violently deported about 17000 Armenians living in Shahumyan District. Russian troops committed the same atrocities as they do today in Ukraine - killings, torture, kidnapping, harassment, rape and the wanton seizure or destruction of property. The Khojaly massacre (26th February 1992) was beeing prepared by Russia for several months, as it required the timed coordination of several regiments. While the armored 366th Guards Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian Army with Russian drivers crushed residential houses, SRP terrorists (similar to the Russians in Grozny and Bucha) massacred the population in the streets and houses and forced them to make a death march in winter at night into a gorge between the mountains. There, a second SRP gang was waiting for them and unleashed more bloodshed. The theory that the Khojaly massacre was organised by the Armenians themselves and that the 366th Regiment of the Russian Army took part without the Kremlin's knowledge is a typical Russian lie, which many Western journalists are still spreading today out of sheer ignorance or stupidity. Just four months after the Khojaly massacre, Russian tanks with Russian drivers unleashed a similar massacre of the predominantly Armenian population on 12 June 1992. More than a hundred tanks of the Russian army, followed by a barrage of infantry of all nationalities gathered from all corners of the former Soviet Union, crushed everything in its path. After all, when information about this Russian massacre got abroad, Russia did (as it always has) everything possible to conceal its participation. With this methodology, Russia managed to achieve what it wanted. Russia instigated a war that was economically devastating to both sides and forced them to buy weapons from Russia that Russia was profiting from. By rationing the supply of arms to both sides, Russia then directed the course of the war for years according to its needs. With this war, Russia sent a signal to other nations that it would destroy anyone who dared to break free from Russian domination. When Azerbaijan began to seek the withdrawal of Russian occupation troops from its territory, Russia pumped Armenian terrorists (Monte Melkonian) with weapons to militarily occupy southwestern Azerbaijan along with Russia. The consequence of Russia's war policy was an economically ruined Armenia suffering from a powerful outflow of its productive population and a Russian and Armenian-occupied south-western Azerbaijan which took twenty years to recover economically and to militarily conquer part of its occupied territory in 2020.

Karabakh as part of the Russian empire Further to the Kurekchay agreement of 1845, the Karabakh Khanate was annexed to Russia. The preservation of khan's government for additional 17 years had a definite strategic meaning. The murder of Ibragim khan in 1806 showed that Russia neglected all the rules and laws. Under those circumstances, the power of Mehdigulu (1806-1822), who inherited the power from his father Ibragim khan, was not strong. The tsarist government strengthened its occupation regime and desired to weaken the economic position of the local authorities in order to establish its own power in the region. They also attempted to win the predominance of the Armenified Albanians whom they regarded as a support. After the abolition of the Khanate like other regions of North Azerbaijan the commandant way of ruling was also established in this area and it was annexed to the Military-Muslim district (with the center in Shusha). At that time lieutenant-general V.Q.Medetov (1782-1829) of Armenian origin, who contributed to the invasive operations of the Russian troops, established a real Armenian-Russian colony in Karabakh. The tsarist government was influenced by the 1830s revolts and conducted an administrative-political reform in South Karabakh on April 10th 1940. The reform turned Karabakh into the Shusha region and put Karabakh under the supervision of the Caspian province (with the center in Shamakhy). Thus, the concept of Karabakh lost its political meaning and was preserved as a geographical one. During the administrative division of 1846, the Shusha region was subdued to the newly established Shamakhy province (from 1859 to Baku). With the creation of the Yelizavetpol province, the Shusha region was put under its supervision and three more districts-Zangezur, Djavanshir and Djabrayil - were created there. Thus, the Shusha district also lost its unique administrative- political meaning. These reforms created every opportunity for Armenians to take part in the governing. The tsarist Russia, which occupied those areas tried to armenify the local inhabitants in order to strengthen its positions. After the signing of the Turkmenchay agreement in 1828 (File 3) this process became more systematic and purposeful. Article 15th of the Turkmenchay agreement ratified the resettlement of Armenians from Iran to North Azerbaijan. According to this article, the Shah gave one year to the families living in Iran to freely move from Iran to Russia without obstacles from the side of the government and local authorities, to carry and sell their property, goods for sale and things. AS for immovable property, the families are given the term of five years to sell it to make arrangements about that on their own will. Yet the grant does not concern the people committing crime when a year has not passed over the case. As mentioned above, this article was included into the contract for ensuring the mass resettlement of Armenians from Iran to North Azerbaijan including Karabakh. By the Edirne contract of 1829 Armenians started to move from the Osmanly Empire to the newly occupied lands of North Azerbaijan. Armenians mainly moved to Karabakh. Ethnic composition of Karabakh khanate during its abolishment reflected on "Description", drawn up by instruction of A.P.Yermolov (1816-1827), the Commander-in-Chief of Russian troops in Caucasus. In spite of Armenianize policy, carried out before drawing of this document (1805-1822), most of Karabakh population was Azerbaijanis, statistics reports (since 1593). According to "Description", 15.729 of 20.095 families in Karabakh were Azerbaijanis (1.111 in the town, 14.618 in the country), 4366 - Armenians, including Albanians (421 in the town, 3.945 in the country). Most of these Armenians was Grogoriyanized and Armanianized Albans. New Armenian villages (Maragali, Janyatag etc.) began to appear in Karabakh in result of Armenian's mass removal to this province. (Some time later Armenians erected monuments of the glory of removal in Karabakh, but destroyed them during territorial claims against Azerbaijan in 1980s.). According to official returns, 40 thousand Armenians were removed from Iran to Northern Azerbaijan, including Karabakh, while 90 thousand - from Ottoman empire in 1828-1830s. Their number with unofficial Armenians settlers exceeded 200 thousand. Number of Armenians began to increase in ethnic composition of Karabakh after removal

Below agreement between Karabakh khanate and Russian empire. Nothing related to Armenian! The Treaty of Kurakchay: The Russian Empire took advantage of the division of the various Caucasian khanates and concluded agreements in the process. Commander-in-Chief of Russian troops in the Caucasus P. D. Tsitsianov began to exert military-diplomatic pressure on the Karabakh khanate after the occupation of Ganja Khanate. It is clear from Sisianov's correspondence with Ibrahim khan from Karabakh, the instructions of Georgian nobleman Ivan Jorayev and Lisanevich, who mediated the negotiations, that the khan tried to conclude the contract on favorable terms. From the agreements concluded by Tsarism with the rulers of the South Caucasus up to Kurakchay, the conditions for the annexation of these state institutions, the directive documents on their abolition, it is clear that the main articles of the Georgievsk Treaty were taken as a basis. The treaty of Kurakchay consisted of a preamble and 11 articles. The introduction of the agreement stipulates the transfer of the Karabakh khanate to the Russian Empire, and the articles define the conditions arising from this. Articles 1, 4, 6, 8 and 9 of the agreement reflect the obligations of Ibrahim Khan, and Articles 2, 3, 5 and 7 reflect Russia's obligations. Russia unequivocally accepted the Karabakh khanate as an independent state, affirmed Ibrahim Khan and his successors as the only owners of the khanate. An important issue was the emperor's guarantee of the integrity of the Karabakh khanate. Khan undertakes to receive and maintain a 500-strong Russian garrison in Shusha fortress. The khan undertook to pay Russia an annual tribute of 8,000 chervonets and to send Mammad Hasan agha's son Shukur agha, as hostages to Tbilisi. The tsar promised to give 10 silver rubles a day to the grandson of the khan held hostage in Tbilisi.[3] Article X of the treaty stated that this treaty is concluded for an indefinite period and should not be changed. Article XI was about ratification. The Kurakchay treaty was signed in Russian. With the abolition of the Karabakh khanate by Russia in 1822, the Kurakchay treaty was terminated.
