The word Armenia is a foreign word which our Assyrian and Iranian neighbors started using to describe us where as the actual word for our country, Hayastan is completely different and has nothing to do with the word Armenia. Armenia refers to either Aram or Armen which had some contact with Assyrians and Persians. Hayastan comes from the word Hayk who is considered to be the leader and legend of our people who killed the Babylonian king to save our lands. The tribe was named after him called Hayasa which came together with tribe called Azzi to form Hayasa-Azzi federation which named their land Hayasa which later added the Persian suffix "stan" meaning "land" or literally "stand" in Proto-Indo-European language. So as you can see, Hayasa and Armenia are completely two separate words and not translation of any sort.

The Blue Mosque shown is not the one in Armenia. It's a photo of the one in Istanbul. Armenia's Blue Mosque looks Persian with a turquoise dome.

Hi, Thank you for the video. But there are some mistakes, unfortunately. Number 28 about Puppet Theatre. It is Tbilisi, Georgia and not Yerevan, Armenia. Number 36 the first mosque you show looks like Sultan Ahmed or the Blue Mosques of Istanbul. The mosques that followed should be in Arabic countries maybe Abu Dhabi, not sure. I am Armenian by the way and I think it is important to check the sources.

It was always its own region and located in the "ARMENIAN HIGHLANDS". Do some research, educate yourself then try to present your point backed up with facts, not opinions.

For everyone who claims that "Armenia is not Europe". That's very nice that you have studied geography well. There are official statements why Armenia is considered to be "European" even though Geographically it is just on the Borders of Europe. So taking into account historical, religious, cultural, linguistic, civilizational ties with Europe Armenia is considered "European" and is member of UEFA, Europarliament and even European Union officially encourages Armenia to start European Union integration measures.

Number 28 is wrong. Tbilisi puppet theater, including the wonky clock tower ARE IN Tbilisi Georgia, not Yerevan Armenia. However, an old and revered puppet theater is found in Gyumri Armenia. Number 30 is incorrect. It is the oldest cathedral on earth, built in the first Christian country on earth.

Armenia is indeed at a cross-roads of Europe and Asia. Speaking an Indo-European language (cousin of Germanic, Romance, Slavic languages) and being Christian (actually the first country to adopt Christianity at state level), Armenia shares much with other European nations culturally. It has been part of the Roman Empire and half of Byzantine emperors had Armenian blood in them; then being part of the Russian empire and Soviet Union, Armenians noticeably differ from the surrounding Muslim states. That is neither good nor bad, just different. But if it matters to some viewers, yes - Transcaucasia and specifically Armenian mountains are in the eastern part of Asia Minor, therefore geographically Asia.

For your info Armenia is not a European country as well Turkey.
