I have never gamed on a laptop. Not everyone games. Who else is not a gamer? Great review by the way

Thanks :D I haven't seriously gamed on a laptop in well over 10 years. That was before I got a job & could afford a proper desktop. Once I finally saved up enough money & fully switched to a proper monitor for gaming I could never go back. I'm also a sweat though & very competitive. But I do understand some people are often on the go & would like a laptop that can game. But this isn't one of those haha

Good video. I think a lot of people forget that not all programs ran on Apple laptops when they switched from Intel to their own M series. It took them a couple years to finally get pretty much all apps to run, and I'm guessing it will be the same with these new ARM based Windows machines. At the end of the day, it's hard to beat an Intel based laptop if you want to do some serious work and play high-end gaming. Unfortunately, the battery isn't the best on those. Keep the videos coming and thanks again.

That’s true, I wondering if the idea of catching up to Apple would be pressure that’ll help them speed up the process or if the x86 alternative is cushion for them to take their time with it. Thanks for the comment!

@@YonnyDigital Good question. Honestly, I believe Microsoft should have really backed Intel more so than going with ARM this time around because at the end of the day, no ARM chip will ever be more powerful than an Intel or AMD paired with a 4090 GPU. Plus, every program will run, unlike on an ARM chip. This is why a lot of companies never switched over to Apple to this day. Companies really need to focus on battery optimization.

@@YonnyDigital LOL.... I know. Those Core Ultra CPU's are actually pretty good, but at the end of the day they simply do not push out enough wattage to get real hardcore work done. That's why I will always say nothing beats the I9 14900 paired with a 4090.

First of all.. nice content bro ! Really great edit.. I got the surface 15inch.. battery life is not that great.. also export 4K video of 9 minutes takes up to 50 minutes is that normal ?!! What other laptop you suggest ( hopefully the surface laptop 7 will come with an intel version as well in October ..

Surprised to hear that battery life hasn't been great for you. If you're using software that's being emulated it's going to take a toll on performance and battery life. I put a link in the description for Qualcomm's list of apps that are native to Windows on ARM Unfortunately if you're looking for one of the new Copilot+ Windows on ARM laptops they're more than likely all going to have this issue because the problem is lack of software support If you definitely want a Windows laptop I hear the HP Spectre x360 is good. It's running Windows on x86, I haven't used it myself though. If you don't mind using Apple, the Macbook Air is also good

You don't have to wait till October. The surface 6 is the version with an Intel processor. And no (Microsoft got the marketing horribly wrong) that is not last years version. It was introduced a month before the 7.

it's perfect for my use case, especially the 15'' variant with a bigger battery. I'm a software engineer, I mainly write C++, some Python scripts for AI and quick and easy stuff and some C. Office tasks get added on top of that and then some browsing the internet for documentation and recreation. When I'm not coding I like to watch videos and I'll occasionally edit the photo here and there but nothing professional. For this use case it's perfect, it's quite and will last a long time with good CPU performance for compiling code. In Alex's Ziskind test, the 13.8'' X Plus surface was the longest lasting laptop for a dev workflow period, even against Macbook airs, pros and the M2 max. I feel like the 13.8'' screen could be a little small for me though as I really like the 14.5'' 16:10 display I have atm so the 15'' might be better for me

He made a great video! I'm glad the laptop is perfect for your work. The best thing about it is that with time it'll only be better. If you're already satisfied with the battery life & the way it handles your tasks; as Windows on ARM gets refined & devs optimize apps more, you'll be able to do other tasks that you might've not considered. I also think that I'd prefer the 13.8" over the 15" for productivity work since I can't use it for video editing Thanks for the comment!

@@YonnyDigital I'll wait a bit and buy it on sale around black friday or christmas. I use Linux way more than ARM for coding but the chip isn't fully supported in the kernel yet. Soon though!

Some light games are playable but they're not going to get amazing FPS. For casual playing yes, and the Auto Super Res option does help get some extra frames if you lower the resolution but don't set your expectations high
