I was stationed at Aberdeen MD in 78 as an MP. I remember watching the demo of the " new" Abram's tank. At that time is was called the XM1. The way it jumped ditches and could hit on the run looked like magic back then. My job was to keep people from taking pictures. No cameras allowed. Boy do I feel old.

That brings back memories. I'm thinking it was the early 80s, maybe the late 70s, my dad took me down for the guided tour. He asked the PIO where the "shaking building" was, and the PIO said straight faced, "I don't know what you're talking about." Dad points over his shoulder, "It's that building." PIO says, "I don't see a building there, sir." I also remember when the M-1 was being introduced. They'd have it race an M-60 around the Main Front track, then hit the bump and go airborne. That was when they were also testing the Sgt. York. Cool idea, flawed execution.

This demonstration of the XM 1 was a demonstration for military personnel and civilian contractors as well as some congressmen from d.c.. try taking pictures on a military post and see what happens to you. In this case no pictures allowed because of the sensitivity of the equipment being viewed. Trying to stop me from doing my job would not have ended well for you. This was back in the 70's. You would have had a half-dozen MP's on you beating your ass ! You better stick to harassing the civilian cops. MP's don't play.

@conk donk With Russia intervention in Syria and Ukraine i wouldn't be so sure of that.

Why didn't he at least talk to a few people who understand tactics? Attack helicopters don't fly high in the air. The are literally hiding behind hills a trees, popping up to fire one or two missiles then dropping down and going somewhere else - fast. And a mechanized unit in an assembly area will not park in a nice long line on a road. Ideally they will be in a huge circle with the tracks 50 meters apart and using the best cover they can find. For a 'hasty stop' the the even vehicles will pull of towards the left and the odd ones pull off to the right. Again - keeping a 50 meter distance from each other. The only time you'll see combat vehicles parked in a line will be under 'administrative' conditions (non-tactical).

Really good one here. The sense of urgency, good camera angles, and the terrain matched the theater well.

The only problem with this idea of an attack is we would have used a lot of artillery to soften up the front lines. Also we would have had air superiority way before we launched a a ground attack.

Arma can be sooo cool. But you have to be good to set it up like this. I usually do the capture flag “warfare” mod that sets up bases and units for you. Makes for a dynamic combat game.

Okay, so while I haven't been in ROK since 1991, let me tell you how wrong this video is for the Korean peninsula. One, you're looking at mountain ranges of 7000 plus ft, not paddies to manuever around. Two, Abrams are 62 Ton and will sink into the Korean contryside in spring, summer (monsoon season) and fall. Only in late September do heavy vehicles even think of deploying off road. 3. Main north/south attack routes are MS1,2,3. 4. NK artillery has every US installation, north of Seoul, targeted as a target reference point. 5. Expected life expectancy for us at Camp Casey was 7min 32 seconds from 1st round shot from the north. Combat effectiveness in my company was at 47% of 84 US and KATUSA soldiers with 14 Abrams, 2 Hmmvs and a 2.5 ton, after NK artillery attack. Do that math. 6. During Desert Storm, DPNK put approx 1 mil troops up against the DMZ and instigated civil unrest in the ROK. We had an actual war roll out in Sept 90, when they found a tunnel under the DMZ. Nice fantasy setup, but unrealistic in terms of terrain, ROK politics and Beijing's history of fighting possible invasion on other countries territory. D co 2/72 Arm Bn, 2ID 90-91....

This video grossly underestimates the North Korea. There's lack of US casualties, in real life scenario no matter if they are technologically advanced, there's still percentage of killed. North Korea would also deploy their squadron to defend their vessel once US presence is detected. China and Russia would also back them up.

@@sirethanthegreat4069 I doubt it. Neither China nor Russia have anything at stake here that's worth going to war over. At most - China will invade from the north and create a 50-100 mile buffer zone in order to prevent having a western style democracy on their border. Another issue is that for the most part the military's of the western Europe NATO allies are a joke. They won't be able to make any kind of a meaningful contribution.

@@tubedude2022, Civil war was far away from the protesters. The issue in US was between ultra liberals and trump supporters, not between government.

I can't think of a single reason to invade North Korea. Even if they didn't have nukes or even just surrendered without a shot, we would go broke. Cool video and nice war game scenario.

You DImwits... The An-2 is used to carry their HUGE Special Forces into attacks into South Korea. They can land just about anywhere. They dont require a runway and they have hundreds of them. Its a very effective aircraft for that mission.

Jesus, the editing! There's no scene that stretches more than 1 second... I'm having an headache. Stretch it! If North Korea used a nuke on us we would given them 3 hours to announce an unconditional; surrender. After that North Korea would cease to exist.

first you need to have the American ships moving. Landing operations could not take place if the carrier is not moving at about 30 knots.

This is good I just feel like there needs to be some information, I'm just kind of watching conflict with no idea what's going on

Ehh this is somewhat close for starters north korea would immediately shell south korea's capital cities it's with in 40 miles of the dmz millions would die overnight as they shoot the bridges that are literally the only way out trapping everyone in they would continue to kill as many as they could they would also be immediately doing basically a banzi rush over the dmz through millions of anti personal mines they know if they wait for an american and south korean attack they wouldn't stand a chance their airforce would be reserved as long as possible for Kamikaze attacks on US ships while american destroyers launch hundreds of cruse missile's all cross north korea US subs would immediately start hunting for north korean ships and ohio class subs would launch close to 250 cruse missile's while over 50 destroyers (only the few in close proximity so not an entire fleet) would launch close to 500-1000 cruse missile's at both sea and land targets and south korea's would rush hundreds of thousands into the enemy banzi charge the usa wouldn't be able to use tanks they don't work well one bit in rice patty's with out skirts and it would take several days to out fit enough to counter attack into north korea territory South Korean rocket artillery would be almost nonstop on north korean forces invading they would blow up bridges set out fall traps do literally everything they could as they wait for america to send a million troops across the world the American carriers would definitely slow them down to damn near a snail's pace while they wait for troops to arrive the air bases around South Korea would be attacked by small mortar teams the snuck through the border and drone strikes would begin after about 8ish hours from air bases from guam japan a few small base's in india they need to refile part way but they can still hit by about hour 12-16 american B-52 or the buff(big ugly fat fucker) have arrived from airbases all across america they will begin shelling north korea's nukelar sites with cruse missile's hundreds of them all within the first 24 hours after this it's a losing battle for the north koreans as south korea finishes it's prep for a counter attack
