Arkham Horror LCG Upgrades & Accessories

Ойындар

A look at some of the premium component upgrades that I’ve been making for Arkham Horror LCG recently.
Arkham LCG is not only my favourite game, but also the one I’ve had most fun customising and upgrading. The base theme can be greatly enhanced in my opinion by carefully selected upgraded components and these are my offering.
I’ve gone for a Art Deco/Ouija board feel to the components and I’m really please with how they turned out!
If any of these 100% Unofficial accessories look interesting to you then please check out my shop at tabletopupgrades.etsy.com

    It became clear that the galvanised backing was going to be a nightmare to deal with, nothing sticks to it (very well) it arrives from laser processing with burrs which when removed, rust and minimum order quantities are massive! Then magic happened and the other one appeared haha! Really appreciate you watching the videos :)

    Beautifull work, I'm on the side of finding the dice a bit fidly but it looks really nice. One tip on the chaos bag, I use a bag with a rounded base (it's actually a cheap chess pieces bag). Has a much nicer feel to pull tokens and you don't get them stuck in the corners.

In any case, keep up the great work. I hope you keep thinking of more AH LCG quality of life items. I got into the game recently and there’s a good chance I’ll buy something off your Etsy.

    Awesome! I too really liked seeing the behind the scenes of how your process evolved. Fantastic on that easy assembly on those player mini cards! I like those dice trackers. I did wonder way you went with two d6's as opposed to say a d20?

  • @TabletopUpgrades

    It was a conscious decision, D10s, D20s etc are evocative of RPG while the D6 feel more like a 1920s craps table to be. i went with this as it met the aesthetic i was aiming for better. Thanks for the comment!

    Wow! This stuff looks great, I like your design language and agree that it really fits the theme! I can't see your etsy shop (I think maybe it's a temporary thing, all of etsy isn't working for me), but I'd really like to browse. For the player boards, I love the concept and have been trying to design something similar myself but I'm personally not a fan of the accent colors (class colors?) around the player cards. Do you have one that maybe matches the ivory theme of the bottom, or would you be able to produce ones that have some kind of art deco/Ouija theme around the frame? I think that'd look more premium/professional, and would be a lot more inclined to buy. Do you have any idea if you're able to ship to Taiwan?

  • @TabletopUpgrades

    @TabletopUpgrades

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Alex! Shipping to Taiwan is no problem and my products are available through my website (www.tabletopupgrades.co.uk) and Etsy (tabletopupgrades.etsy.com), though buying through my website avoids unnecessary fees. As for the Ivory theme, yes I’m going to experiment with this, but my inclination is to go with black. Ivory acrylic seems to mark easily and extending the laser laminate to cover the whole surface is very expensive so maybe there’s something clever that can be done with nesting the parts in production to reduce costs. Realistically, I’m aiming on getting the player boards on first and resource trackers second. I antcipate getting the player cards on by the end of March 2021- I know that sounds like a ridiculous amount of time but one thing is making a one off and another is being able to produce them at scale to the quality I am passionate about! You see a lot of awesome gaming accessories come and go on the likes of Etsy because people struggle to make them in any kind of quantity and/or maintain the quality so they often fizzle out. I’m a manufacturing engineer in my day job and I take this process very seriously, I have to create jigs, finishing work flows and I develop bespoke packaging for each of my products so everything works perfectly first time. I don’t want my products to be a flash in the pan, once they’re online, they’re online! My intention is to be here for the long term!

    Hi Tim! I intend to get the stands on by the mid October, I had hoped sooner, but I’m selling stuff faster than I can make it at the moment, so I’m just trying to get ahead of myself and regroup! The plan is for stands first, then player cards and resources. I’m tempted to release the latter after the Xmas rush though as I don’t want to commit to something that I can’t keep up with production wise. What is it you were interested in? I might be able to set up a private listing so you can your hands on the goods without me opening the floodgates!

    Another commenter suggested D20s but to me polyhedral dice give it a more DnD feel. I wanted to go for the casino/craps table of the 1920s vibe, hence the d6. I’ll definitely keep the 2xd10 idea in mind for designing accessories for other games though! thanks for the comment :)

    Curious, do you still use these dice for tracking stuff, or have you changed? I noticed you are sold out and now have wound counters and tokens up again. Do you have that because most people want to buy the tokens, or have you changed to that method now?

  • @TabletopUpgrades

    @TabletopUpgrades

    Thanks for asking! The dice trackers are dependent on 10mm dice which turn out to be unreliable to obtain at bulk in the various colours, as it happens I will be restocking in about two weeks, but you are correct, the normal tokens outsell the dice trackers 3:1 The dice trackers are my preferred method though :)

    @@TabletopUpgrades Thanks for the Reply! So you still use the dice trackers and prefer them? That’s interesting. Do you find the dice equally as fiddly as the tokens but more aesthetically pleasing? Also, i didnt see the player mats on Etsy? Do you sell those?

  • @DrMcFly28
    @DrMcFly283 жыл бұрын

    I dunno. Using customised components for individual cards coupled with fiddling with D6s ... seems much more impractical then just flopping the resource on and taking it off. Also, the inconsistencies between card text and representation would bug me to no end. Stuff like "move all horror tokens from your investigator to your assets" would include extra mental steps which I can totally live without. :)

  • @TabletopUpgrades

    @TabletopUpgrades

    Thanks for the feedback! its definitely a matter of personal taste, myself and the people I play with much prefer the aesthetics of individual tokens rather than generic cardboard chits. the dice aren’t fiddly but i imagine some people like yourself much prefer tokens - its in my to do list to get get designing some traditional premium tokens so all tastes are catered for. One thing is for sure, whichever route you go down, AHLCG is a beautiful game to look at on the table :) thanks for taking the time to watch!

    I agree it is a bit expensive, but ideally you'd buy 1 pack a month (which is how often they release). At $15 USD, that's basically a Netflix or xbox game subscription. The downside is there's a lot to catch up on, but my friends, family, and I all love it and have regular game nights for months on end. It's worth at least giving it a try.
