    Hey I have my 2nd degree yellow belt test next week so I’ll start sparring does it hurt very much? Cuz I’m nervous

  • @n8taing612

    @n8taing612

    Жыл бұрын

    It's doesn't hurt to get hit in the hogu, unless it's a powerful kick like a back kick or a good tornado kick, but that's pretty rare. Just make sure your opponent only kicks the hogu and nowhere else because low kicks do hurt (especially groin). Don't worry about head kicks since you're only a yellow belt and it's most likely both u and your opponent are going to have controlled contact because u don't wanna kill eachother at a non tournament event lol. Have fun and good luck!

    @@n8taing612 ok cool thank you, I don’t plan on doing sparring tournaments for awhile, and my studio does it based on height and belt level so I’ll probably be with someone my skill lvl plus for a lil while I’m sure they’ll do light contact

    @@n8taing612 I understand going light to prevent injury before a tournament. I'm commenting on the lack of kicking combinations using both legs to perform switch kicks, back kicks, ax kicks, etc. All I see are one or two front round kicks sometimes followed up by a rear round kick. It's mostly all one legged fighting

    @@n8taing612 Dean is right though....When I competed and trained back in the 90s TKD was faster and more dynamic with lots of quick power kicks, axe kicks, back kicks 360 kicks 720 kicks double and triple jumping round houses......nowadays its looks like foot fencing.....mostly front leg slapping kicks and taps but back in the day even kicks that land flush DID NOT score unless it was hard and landed with a thud. and touching the head didnt score unless you really smack that head. anybody can look up 90s WT sparring highlights to see what we mean. The electronic hogu really dumbed down WT matches where light soft kicks can score hence all this weird flamingo kicking bs... And we know these are kids sparring but were refering to offical WT tournament sparring you can see on youtube.........its weak af...very soft looking
