Some birth defects, like the child not having lungs or a brain, so they won't survive after birth, is a valid reason for what you're calling late term abortions... Also, the mother's health may be negatively impacted just carrying the baby that won't survive to term. Not all pregnancies are safe or low risk... And risking her future fertility shouldn't be mandatory, to birth a baby that won't survive after that birth.

The repuke cowards there finally realized that they could very likely lose their jobs if they didn't repeal this horrific and draconian law. I ask the Arizona voters to retire them anyway! This law should never have been upheld in the first place. They should have repealed it the first Two Times (I think it was twice) that it came up TO be repealed. Vote Democrats into office and you won't have to deal with this garbage.

A life IS a life,and ignoring the fact that a mother's life ALSO matters is irresponsible. Those GOP members who voted to repeal did the right thing. The next right thing would've been to leave the medical decisions to the people involved in the issue.

Those GOP members who voted to repeal a law from 1864 are correct. There were few women in AZ in 1864. Heck, the population was almost all men, very few as well ..pioneers and 'women of the night'. Women should be protected if their life is at risk. the fetus is nonviable or due to rape and incest at the very least.

Uh... Do you know or live in Arizona. Check about when women got the right to vote in the territory. To join the union Arizona women ended up loosing that right. That is what the cattle barrens were hoping would stop us from being a state.

If we started charging the fathers with crimes all of these laws would disappear. This is not about sanctity of unviable lives, it’s about men being in control.

Exactly. I think all of this can be resolved, even up to the level of SCOTUS when it’s understood that 99.9% of these people are using a religious rationale. We are a civic country, run by civic rule, which at its core is non-theological. Enough already. Do what the majority of women (and men) want, and codify a “new Roe” into national law. It’s either women have equal rights in all 50 states or none at all.

We are one presidential election away from a nationwide ban. Vote responsibly! Vote blue!

Now they just have to codify it into thier constitution like many other states.

If any of those people who opposed abortion cared about children, then they would make sure daycare and other services were provided for the poorest of us all. So that families weren't paying as much on their daycare as they do on their rent and then tell hungry children to pull themselves up by their bootstraps! In my opinion, this was never about saving babies, only about the control of young women and their bodies! It sickening and outrageous to tell someone else when they can and can't start a family!
