Arizona Day Trip to Mogollon Rim From Phoenix

This is an Arizona day trip from Phoenix to the Mogollon Rim in Northern Arizona. The Mogollon Rim is north of Payson in the Tonto National Forest. Up there you will discover thick forest and wildlife. Many lakes for fishing and kayaking. Many people like to go camping on the Mogollon Rim as there are many campgrounds. The Tonto National Forest was closed at this time due to fire danger. In my opinion some of the best camping spots in Arizona are on the Mogollon Rim.

Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. The reason the Forest is closed is because of High Fire Danger. People from Phoenix come up here to get out if the heat. I get that. What I don't understand is why they leave their trash everywhere and apparently have not learned how to properly extinguishe their camp fires. We don't need any more human caused fires!!!

How about a road trip video up the Beeline? I took three U-Hauls & a car that way, but I couldn't enjoy the view, just trying to "keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down." Payson was still 85 miles from (now) home, and I just wanted to get there. BTW, today it was a frigid 99F @ 5700 feet. You'd freeze up here! LOL (You really would in January).

They closed the forest because of fire danger not COVID. The only COVID tie in is the lack of fire fighters, but that was not the reason for closing.
