“Arise Sir David?” Beckham Granted Dinner With King Charles After Shunning Sussexes

Prince William, Princess Kate and King Charles all hit the headlines this week for honourable initiatives covering climate change, the Commonwealth, fatherhood and much more including a dinner with Golden Balls himself David Beckham.
On this week's Royal Tea Sarah Hewson is joined by TalkTV Royal Correspondent Rupert Bell and TalkTV regular and royal commentator Afua Hagan to discuss all the latest stories.
The King's attendance at COP28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, is a significant step in showcasing his commitment to the environment. Meanwhile, Prince William's Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony in Singapore aims to recognise and support individuals who are working towards sustainability goals. Additionally, the Princess of Wales made a surprise appearance to support a group of fathers called the Dadvengers, emphasising the importance of recognising the role of fathers in parenthood. Finally, former England football star David Beckham is set to have dinner with King Charles to discuss a potential ambassadorship for the Prince's Foundation.
Prince William's Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony aims to support individuals who are working towards sustainability goals. The prize, consisting of a £1 million grant, will be awarded to five winners who have developed projects related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This initiative not only provides financial support but also helps these individuals connect with key players in the sector, further advancing their projects and ideas.
Finally, the dinner between King Charles and David Beckham is seen as a significant move, especially considering the recent distance between the Beckhams and Prince Harry and Meghan. The King is seeking a new ambassador for the Prince's Foundation, and Beckham's star power and global reach make him an ideal candidate. This dinner serves as an opportunity for both parties to discuss a potential partnership and rebranding for the foundation.

King Charles MUST admit the British Crown military COMMITTED GENOCIDE. I always respected and admired King Charles, I am just a few years younger than he is BUT he really should admit the TRUTH that is was GENOCIDE committed by the British Crown's military Get real!

A Kenyan authority at an interview said that they recognize the terrible things done under British rule, that they appreciated the words of then Prince of Wales and now King Charles, and also said that people in Kenya also recognize the way the Kenyan authorities behaved when they took over, so he said there are things to learn from the past, but that the important thing is to look forward and work together. David and Victoria fell out with the Sharkles a while ago, because Megs allegedly wrongly accused Victoria of spreading stories about her, amongst other things. David Beckham is known the world over, so it just might be that he brings his popularity, and respect for the Royal Family, to the table, instead of this tit for tat nonsense.

And on another positive note, I already looked at how much a family trip to Kenya would cost. It seems with the state of things in Britain the government is making a lot of use of the Royal Family (I understand they get the money from the taxpayers), but King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Catherine, Princess Anne, Sophie & Prince Edward are really doing a good job. My perspective from an Australian & South African view. I'm a teacher & environmentalist, Princess Catherines Shaping Us campaign, Prince Williams Earth shot Prize & Prince Charles's Princes Trust is not going unnoticed. Britain should be proud. And wish Mike and Zara Tindall could become senior Royals, what a treat that would be for us rugby fans. :-)

Whenever these people mention asking for an apology from the RF / Monarchy during royal tours or state visits, I've noticed they're not asking to hear the word 'sorry' alone. Sorry to them simply means 'reparation' which is all the money they're gunning after really😂. Yes, the past was abhorrent and every country & race (including Britain) have suffered a painful and abhorrent past, but King Charles is no way responsible for what happened. Listen to senator Olekina talk about how Britain left their land, and is in no way responsible for the state of how things are in Kenya today. The likes of him have moved forward and are not stuck in the past of what happened. Majority of Keyans don't hold this bitterness on behalf of dead Ancestors (they never met) and that Afua Hagan and the likes are trying to propagate as an issue.

Money will not rectify the horrific crimes committed in the past. Every country around the world has had or profited from slavery. not one person alive today can honestly say they has suffered because of slavery probably more because of corrupt governments. We can’t be punished for the actions of our forefathers. I would love to say it’s a thing of the past be we know that not true 💔

David and Victoria Beckham are self made hardworking National Treasures, he’s invited to be an ambassador for the Kings charity and hopefully a knighthood because of that, not because he stood up to the slobberings from H&M, but horray to him for doing so.

I loved the Beckham documentary. I never thought much of either of them, but then I saw the doc and really found them engaging and likable. I personally don’t care about the infidelity years ago…if they’ve moved on then what’s it our business? I thought they were pretty up front about it without being gauche. It’s all just opinions anyhow.

You're correct of course. When was Afua last in an African country? She knows didely-squat about the continent. The many different cultures, beliefs, dialects and tribal affiliations that politicians use for their own ends and the reprehensible violence that results. She needs a good deal of education about slavery that is happening NOW in many African countries! It's been practised for centuries, as has female genital mutilation which is still maiming girls now. Instead of sitting around and spouting the usual rehearsed robotic rhetoric, how about she educates herself, gains first hand experience from actively participating in organisations and charities that care about African issues TODAY.

We can’t change what happened in the past. As much as we find what was done in the past appalling, we are not responsible. Apologies today don’t go to those that suffered the wrath of slavery. Anything done today doesn’t take away the pain and suffering of the deceased slaves. Making monetary payments for crimes of the past isn’t going to help those that were slaves. I don’t agree with those wanting to profit from their ancestors suffering. I also don’t agree with removing statues of important figures in history because they or their family owned a slave. Near me people rallied to have the statue of Christopher Columbus removed from the park because he was a slave owner. So the city removed the vandalized statue. When does this end?

As an American, I think slavery was as bad as anyone could get. At the time of slavery, there were many, many people and countries involved, including Africans enslaving and selling other Africans. No one would ever be able to apologize enough or even know where to begin with reparations. Probably no one alive today was involved in slavery, so it is not my fault or anyone else 's fault today. There were slaves in the Biblical times. As I understand it, the King is not supposed to get involved in political matters and slavery is a political matter that the GB government and other countries' governments need to address. If my ancestor killed someone, do I have to apologize to that person's family because of something that happened before I was born?
