I don't know about this new variatoin, but I want to clear some things up. I"m Korean, and I doing a project on Arirang, so... But I'm not an expert, though.Anyway, the original version has a deep meaning. Arirang actually means "the fun of finding my real self". And the part 아리랑 고개로 넘어간다 "going over Arirang hill" to translate it very poorly means going over a mountain/hill of comprehension/enlightment. So basically, this song means (at least the original version)1. find your true self and understand it2. if you try to ignore the logic/the truth/your true self, you won't go far. I hope it cleared some thngs up. Even though I'm South Korean, keep in mind that I'm still just a teenager doing some homework and I'm not an expert at this thing. But I just wanted to say this so that everyone could understand that Korean Songs and national culture has a lot of deep meaning to them. :) Love Korea forever guys

I instantly felt attracted to this song the first time I heared it.Than,I have researched it a bit on the net,mostly to be able to sing it myself rather than to fully understand it.It is only now that I see much more depth in those words than before and this is because of your comment,here.I now am feeling inspired to learn more about this song,thanks to you.

I sang this song for first time in 2010 during the closing ceremony of choral competition in Pusan. It was my best experience to sing this beautiful song with all paticipating choir. I remembered the beautiful scene of the valley, sea and also Korean people they're very nice. Thanks for sharing :-)

Arranging this marvellous folk song to make it sound like an operatic aria and sung so, so beautifully here by this amazing soprano with great orchestral accompaniment, shows the gifts of the Korean people are stupendous. I hope that she would one day sing at the Dewan Filharmonik in Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra with maestro Myung Wha Chung conducting! Kamsa hamnida.

Arirang, The most famous folk song of Korea and this word is derived from an Evenki word. Evenki is one of Tungusic minority tribe, in north-eastern China and In Russia. Therefore Korean is believed to be very much proud of one of descendant of Evenki tungusic tribes if they deeply love this song. Awesome Beautiful song and singer!!

Arirong refers to a mountainous valley. This is the English translation: Arirong, Arirong, Ara Ri Ro climbing all the little hills of Arirong Ro. Walk beside me, we'll sing as we go. Climbing all the little hills of Arirong Ro.

It is certainly not Korean traditional voice or instrumentation, BUT it is a beautiful fusion of Western voice and orchestration and Korean sentiment and melody. Just beautiful.

Rather than in English version, may be Arirang would be much better in Korean. Just like Dahil Sa Iyo in Tagalog
