people abroad have an issue with pro wrestling, because wresting takes itself too seriously. if all the athletes spoke more to media (outside their organisation) as themselves maybe it would be different. On the other hand, I know a few Pro wrestlers and they spend all of their time telling people that MMA is all rigged and there is no such thing as competitive sport, to justify their own fakeness. Let’s not frame this as a fully one sided issue.
