Ariane 6 first liftoff
Europe’s new rocket Ariane 6 powered Europe into space taking with it a varied selection of experiments, satellites, payload deployers and reentry demonstrations that represent thousands across Europe, from students to industry and experienced space actors.
This inaugural flight, designated VA262, is a demonstration flight to show the capabilities and prowess of Ariane 6 in escaping Earth's gravity and operating in space. Nevertheless, it had several passengers on board.
Ariane 6 was built by prime contractor and design authority ArianeGroup. In addition to the rocket, the liftoff demonstrated the functioning of the launch pad and operations on ground at Europe's Spaceport. The new custom-built dedicated launch zone was built by France's space agency CNES and allows for a faster turnover of Ariane launches.
Ariane 6 is Europe’s newest heavy-lift rocket, designed to provide great power and flexibility at a lower cost than its predecessors. The launcher’s configuration - with an upgraded main stage, a choice of either two or four powerful boosters and a new restartable upper stage - will provide Europe with greater efficiency and possibility as it can launch multiple missions into different orbits on a single flight, while its upper stage will deorbit itself at the end of mission.
ESA’s main roles in the Ariane 6 programme is as contracting authority - managing the budget from Member States participating in the Ariane 6 development programme; and as launch system architect - ensuring that the rocket and launch pad infrastructure work together.
Ariane 6 is the latest in Europe's Ariane rocket series, taking over from Ariane 5 featuring a modular and versatile design that can launch missions from low-Earth orbit and farther out to deep space.

Awesome to see the Ariane rocket in flight again. Good luck ESA 🤞
i like the design of this rocket. So simple and clean very elegant, but at same time so powerful. I think they have to work on spectacularization of launch events. More cameras, more telemetry, more enthusiastic comments. Marketing is always a good thing

@@thestormcrafterthey have French, German, and English feeds with commentary in those respective languages; the French you hear here is simply the PA person who is physically there at mission control calling out the important milestones like liftoff and MECO etc over loudspeaker so he is present in every feed. also even if it was a French only feed ArianeSpace, a French launch provider, are under no obligation to provide you with English commentary.

Not reusable, no new technology, weak lift capacity. All this secures is private industry undercutting europe and the Ariane series being retired in five years.
Congratulations ESA Team. This is so exciting and fascinating!!!

So bravo Europe ! So Bravo ARIANE the 6th !! «Pilotage calme, trajectoire nominale» = Perfect !
Congratulations!!! I saw it live and it was very exciting!
Beautiful! It went up so fast too!

how did You know? No data for people except time. No altitude, no speed. Classified? Or it just over "need to know"? Quite as much information as in the advertising of washing powder with "wonderful molecules".

First of all, later in the flight they showed a lot of data. Second, this rocket can hold almost 20 tons and in another configuration 21 tons of payload. This was the first flight, and it carried only a small payload. But because it still had max fuel for data, it was really light and had a really quick liftoff. Compare it to Starship, that rocket sits on the pad for a while after ignition. @ainkahlberg7539

@@realEpicGold all liquid rockets sit in the pad for a few seconds because liquid engines need a few seconds to start up. ariane 6 was the same. the core stage lit up a few seconds before liftoff. its just that hydrogen fumes are almost invisible with only a small blue flame (with the exception of delta 4's orange fumes but that's because the RS-68s were ablatively cooled). the liftoff was synonymous with the lighting of the solid rocket boosters.
Congrats ESA, Arianespace, Airbus and Safran!

Guess it was "nominale" then? 😆 A beautiful launch ESA! Just wanted to say "Well done guys!" from the UK! Although I dearly wish we were involved & helping. We've kicked out the crooks that ruined our country. Coming home begins with one step! Volez en toute sécurité Ariane 6! 🇪🇺🤝🇬🇧
Good start ❤ Good luck from Ukraine

Bravo!!!!!
I'm so proud and glad to see Ariane 6 in flight. People have bailed on us last minute but Ariane got delayed just making sure everything was perfectly safe and operational. This is how it's done, and what makes Ariane and ESA great in my opinion. As a space enthusiast and French, I'm truly happy. I understand it may have lacked some show and English but English is not required to understand what the video shows you. You can see for yourself what's happening, a rocket flying perfectly.
Nominale!
Great to finally see it fly!
Wunderschön und Glückwunsch zum Erfolg!
Congratulations for such an achievement! You guys are the best!!!!
Such an awesome launch!!
Let's goooooo! This is great, magnificent first flight! "Nominal" is a word that will make our day. To the stars and beyond Ariane! All the best :)

Awesome lift off. The burn is impressive in how controlled it is and how fast it transfers momentum.
A new european rocket era! Good luck with it
Awesome Rocket and wonderful Liftoff, great job 👍
Great launch! I was at work during the livestream, but I watched the replay once I got home!
Bravo!

Nicely done! Arianespace definitely needs to get into the whole re-usability business sooner or later, but it's nevertheless great to see a new Ariane model successfully launching!
Congratulations ESA on a great first launch of the Ariane 6
Fantastique !!! ❤
First launch, first ariane 6 vehicle, first successfully launch to reach orbit. I hope you success everyday with rocket company!!🎉🎉
Congratulations on a beautiful launch!

Nice job, and hopefully the APU failure on restart will have resulted in enough data to correct that for ulterior flights needing it.

1:34 it's unbelievable to see the clouds and surface of the planet move away so quickly. It's like my primate brain can't understand that speed haha. Humanity is so little, yet so great.
A lot of people ask "why don't they just land the booster and re-use it", well, at the typical workload of this rocket (10 tons to GTO or 5 tons to GEO), Falcon cannot be fully reused either. Those are the "fully expended" launches that you sometimes see, or Falcon Heavy with expended core and recovered boosters.
@edwinschaap5532
That's why SpaceX has several Falcon configurations. In most cases they can make it back. Ariane 6 can never make it back. And for SpaceX, it is proven technology and they are now playing with Starships and Super Heavy boosters which are in a total different league.
@Rob2
@@edwinschaap5532 Ariane 6 also has different configurations, it can fly with 2 or 4 boosters and I think there also will be 2nd stage options. Falcon is only reusable when it is flying below 70% of its capabilities, for RTLS it has to be even less. Starship has not yet demonstrated launch beyond LEO and it is likely to require re-fueling.
Shame they did not show the boosters returning and landing /s But yeah, good to have alternatives! Well done!
