There's a great documentary called Our Man in Tehran, ( 2013,) which details the role Ken Taylor and the Canadian government played regarding the 1980 hostage crisis. The US government wouldn't be able to falsify passports because of too many levels. The Prime Minister, Joe Clark, and Flora MacDonald fabricated the six passports used to extract hostages. These facts weren't addressed in the movie, Argo.

But Ben Affleck's character in the film was... only in Tehran a day and a half. And the main hero, in my opinion, was Ken Taylor, who was the Canadian ambassador who orchestrated the entire process." it sickens me how little thanks we have received, actually just a mention would have been nice... It was the Canadian government that supplied the Americans with passports, Canadian passports so they could get the hell out of Doge ...which they did thank god. Also during 9/11 your american planes had to be diverted to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and more... It was so tight they went on the radio to ask the general public to open their homes to those Americans that were stuck here, my family was one that invited two families to stay in our homes for the four days they had to wait... I am truly ashamed of your government for not mentioning that and also just how many first responders came to lend aid in the days following the atrocities.. I was one of 24 Canadian soldiers that drove down to ground zero to lend a hand.. We were there for a month. Now, due to what we breathed in while we worked has now killed four of the 26 of us that went to help and no i have been diagnosed with the same cancer. I have eight months to live....and your all welcome. but I might add, Id do it again.

In reality they flew out at about 5.30 or 6am without a hitch as the guards weren't there that early, according to the Canadian Ambassador and his wife in an interview podcast. She also used cash to buy tickets with several airlines for the Americans in case there was a problem with one. I heard that the kiwi's (New Zealand) or UK people drove them to the airport too so all helped.

Hopefully this can never happen again. Iran made a great mistake in charging and raiding the US Embassy. This mistake has hurt them badly in any type of relationship with the USA. Yes the former President of Iran messed things up too. Now with the war in the Gaza strips and Iran supporting Hamas is ruining the relationship with the USA. Thank goodness for the efforts of Canada, its organizations and the USA and its organizations. I don't know all the things the CIA does, but I'm thankful there work in this.

Sudi Mwinyi - Are you talking about the movie they said that Hollywood wanted him to star in and how he supposedly came to meet, whichever star it was, and that’s how they caught him. I have read and watched many other videos/documentaries/news reports, they say different then the one source, (that I forget now) who said that El Chapo met with said star, thinking that Hollywood wanted to make a movie about “Vida El Chapo”, lmao of it is true!

What i do not understand is why they never anywhere, talk about the risk for the people who are already captured. In ww2 they just shot people as a punishment for not signing over people. They could have shot 20 of the hostages as revenge. I feel like they keep simplifying the story and leaving out a lot. Did it even happen like this at all?

And again, in Hollywood movies, we're bad people I'm not exactly talking about this movie because in this movie, we had at least the appearance of humans! I mean movies like 300 that can tarnish our image by distorting history. Why doesn't anyone once pay attention to what we want to do in the world, that the Iranian people want to be friends with all nations? Why is Hollywood ruining our image and being supported by the American people? Is there anyone in America who knows how unsuccessful our government has been in ruining our friendship with the Americans or the people of the world? Because we don't believe everything the media says. I just want you to not let the media show you anything other than the truth, read a little.

Thanks for sharing your point of view. I'm american and for the most part, I think many of us understand that the average citizen of Iran (or any other county we have strained relationships with) does not represent or agree with their governments mistakes and have a nuanced point of view. I'd like to be friends with any of the warm friendly people of Iran. There are people here that have open minds as well.
