ARGENTINA ADVENTURE - BUENOS AIRES & TIGRE 2023

“Bienvenidos Al Argentina!”
We're taking you on a tour of its capital. Buenos Aires. The city is so huge that we’re doing 2 videos, drawing a dividing line at the obelisk. In this first video we focus on everything in the northern half. Like the toilet museum--oh yes, my friends, it’s a must see; and Buenos Aires’ first skyscraper, plenty of war memorials and Falklands history, boating in beautiful parks around the rose gardens, and watch this “generic flower” flower bloom in the sculpture park. That’s next to the world famous cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. Thats Evita of the Don’t Cry for Me Argentina song, and she’s everywhere. And you won’t believe what we discovered in the canals of the Tigre Delta. It’s off the grid! And what on earth is going on here in the garbage? Stay tuned!

I'm a UK/US dual national currently on a 32 day holiday in Argentina to determine the best Argentine city for me to retire to when I retire at the end of 2026. The Floralis Genérica in Buenos Aires is broken and has been for years! It no longer opens nor follows the sun. Funny how none of the YT videos about visiting BA ever seem to mention this fact. Britain did not rename the Malvinas the Falklands in 1982. The Falkland Islands derive their name from Falkland Sound, the name given to the waterway between East and West Falkland by Captain John Strong, who spent several days in the Islands on his ship Welfare in 1690. Falkland Sound was itself named after Viscount Falkland, one of the owners of Welfare. Thus the British and Spanish always has different names for the islands.

Yes, the man who discovered the islands was French and the islands were named after him. However, the English colonized the islands and named them the Falklands. The Spanish still referred to the islands as Las Malvinas. For a time, the British and the French competed for ownership of the islands. This was long before Argentina was independent. The young Argentine republic also referred to the islands as Las Malvinas. The British sole the islands from a young, defenseless Argentine Republic and used the name The Falklands.@@user-ff4bs6yx7r

Thank you for the clarification. It's so complicated and you get different perspectives depending on who you ask. Before I went, I had never heard of the Malvinas. This is why we travel - to learn and broaden our horizons. Best wishes for your retirement!

Bienvenidos a Argentina.

Felicitaciones.

Thankyou for your input. She seems to be everywhere but I know her politics were not supported by all Argentinians. Growing up in England, the only thing I knew was Evita's story and it was interesting to learn the whole story in Buenos Aires.

That is not true! The policies carried out by Eva Perón are internationally recognized, and have the acceptance and approval of the majority of Argentines. Only the anti-patriarch, misogynists, oligarchs, and those with little study (gorillas) disapprove of it
