This was Mt Aunt Bessies' solo at our families' church, First Glory Baptist in Detroit.. My Uncle Harvey was the Pastor. Talkin about "Precious Memories" I grew up in this church with all my cousins, aunts and uncles. Praise God! I'm so blessed to have these memories to fall back on. I remember this song being a bit faster. They'll be singing all night in this tempo. Lol

I wasn’t introduced to this album by means of any grandparents or elder relatives; however it was on a radio show that I was introduced to her greatness at age 11. Thank you Joe Bullard. Can you imagine my surprise when I realized she was known for more than just Respect.

FINALLY I get why black church lasts so long. Cuz this song had me feeling some kinda way and I was mad it was over after only 7 minutes. Glo-ray! 🙌

Wowwwwwwww and I was 5. I remember the day Mommy bought it home like it was yesterday and me being an album cover kid, I could not believe my eyes 👀. I wasn't used to seeing her look so regular so normal like Mommy natural, little too no make up, even her outfit. This was the only gospel album played in our home growing up in the early 70's into the 80's. I was not able to take the album when I left home at 22 but, I've purchased the CD 3 times since 1989. It's sentimental to me and I'll NEVER part with it.

I listened to this song everyday going through chemotherapy he made me more beautiful everyday, oh my GOD he so loving caring be is with us.

I was priveledged to listen to her music as it came out with the young people of my church as we teenagers were just starting out in life.

I just heard this song on a channel 13 documentary about the lynching of a young man named Lennon Lacy, who was murdered in N. Carolina in 2014. I was moved by this song and I needed to come to KZread to see if I could find it. Not only did I find it, I found it sung by the most amazing voice of Ms. Aretha Franklin. I was meant to hear this song today....amen

You know a song is slow when you 2x speed it up and it is still slow. I played (piano) this at a funeral today. Never heard this song in my local baptist church(es); might be COGIC famous. I knew the hymnal. Never heard the black remix version. Old school funeral (everything was clubhouse blues gospel). That generation is passing on. Every day is precious.
