If you are a door-to-door sales rep for pest control sales be sure to avoid these 5 questions with your prospects.
assume the sale, assuming the sale, pest control sales, pest control marketing, door to door, door to door sales, door-to-doorWhen marketing your services the language you use is key. One of the key differences between the successful door-to-door sales rep and unsuccessful is the successful plan what they are going to say with each prospect as well as avoid saying certain things. When it comes to door-to-door sales and over the phone pest control sales the clock is always ticking. The longer it takes to get to the sale the less likely it is going to happen. Newer sales reps tend to talk about irrelevant things that aren't getting you closer to a sale and it doesn't add anything towards getting you to your goal faster, it only takes away from it.
Avoid yes/no questions in pest control marketing and door-to-door sales
Door-to-door sales expert and author of the book Door-to-Door Millionaire Lenny Gray says the most common worst questions to ask in pest control sales are as follows.
Is this something you are interested in buying?
Have you ever thought about buying ____?
Have you seen our trucks in the area?
Have you heard of our company before?
If I could save you some money would you be interested in talking to me?
The first two questions set you back because even if your prospect says yes to them you could have already eliminated asking those questions in advance simply by assuming the sale. This is something you and your sales teams should be doing anyway. If you believe that your products and services have value, should be assuming that people will want to buy them once they know about them.
Even if you get a yes to the 3rd question what does that accomplish? If someone says they have seen your companies trucks in the area it doesn't get you any closer to the sale. If you want a better use of a similar question ask something that assumes the sale as well as name drop to build more rapport. So for example you could say something like "I'm sure you have seen our trucks in the neighborhood, we were just over at the Smiths house a few doors down..."
Question 4 is another irrelevant as well and it most likely could only hurt your chances of making a sale. You could have the largest most well known company in the industry, but if your prospect hasn't heard of it, it doesn't really matter. Your job is to share with the prospect how your company can best fulfill their needs and help them understand how your products can benefit them. Your company could be a new start up or have been around for years and number one in the industry, it really doesn't matter if you can accomplish the sale.
And finally question 5, you shouldn't have to ask a question like this when you can simply make it an assumptive statement. Something like "I'm sure you are like most people and you want to save money..." If you have approached the prospect in a unique way and name drop you will have built enough rapport quickly where they will at least hear you out so you don't need to ask if they would be interested in talking to you.
Bottom line most of these questions which can sabotage your results in door-to-door pest control sales can be eliminated by assuming the sale and assuming that your prospect is open and willing to talk with you and assuming they will become a customer when you first approach them. Start assuming the sale and stop asking questions that imply that you don't and you will close more sales in your business.
