Thank for this episode. No matter how much money we get from our job we have to ensure that we love it.
Thanks bbclearningenglish for your usual compelling and actual topics. I used to work in a very competitive enviroment-boss breathing on my neck, vicious colleagues demanding targets etc -Thanks God it's over, have myself reinvented and Happy with myself and new job. Thanks again for your lessons!
You're doing a wonderful job. Kudos!
Thanks a bunch for your efforts .
I had a big project with a tight deadline, and my boss breathed down my neck, and then I was burnt out. I had to presenteeism, and my work-life balance was terrible. However, I have a friend who works at a great company, and her job is very flexible, but she finishes her job too, so it's a win-win for her and her company. I then quit my old job and joined my friend at her company. (This is just a made-up story. I'm fine.)

Thank you for BBC learning English. The this topic was so close to my life, because most people have bad job experiences at the one time in their life. I have been facing bad job experience more than 2 times. The reason was bad salary, inflexible and presenteeism. After the my bad job experiences, I have got work-life balance.

Great!! Gracias.. thanks..
yeah, absolutely
Thanks a lot
I'm currently a high school student, so it's quite tricky for me to imagine my working life in the future. However, burnout has emerged in my academic life for several times and the most feasible remedy for me is reuning with my family as well as choosing a win-win on my own. It will be unfortunate if I have a supervisor breathing down my neck, but I'll make every endeavor to overcome and earn a colossal amount of money in order to have a stable life.
That was perfect. I love it.
This episode is extremely appealing because it provides a lot of relevant vocabularies to the topic as well as it can be a call for me to review my enthusiasm towards my current job. Thank you so much.

Presenteesim: amazing word that I ever learnt. Thanks BBC Learning English
Oh ...l love this program as I could learn a lot from this.I have learned an important idiom breathing down in your neck that means some is watching very closely and checking everything you do.I wish I couldn't get a Manager who is like breathing down in your neck.Also I do agree that works should be flexible and must be based upon the talent do we have.Presenteeisam is a new vocabulary for me which I never ever heard before this.

Another word that people often use (similar to breathing down your neck) is micromanage. A boss who micromanages employees is constantly theming them what to do.
I don’t like my mother breathing down my neck when i’m studying. Once, i was intensely concentrating like in the zone and suddenly realized my mother’s face on my shoulder literally. It definitely freaked me out, her unexpected presence startled me enormously.

Each and every work has its own problems. It depends on the working environment they get. We should balance our working time and enjoyment time equally. Then everything will be ok for us.
I hope that kind of working culture will develop as soon as possible.

If there is a job with good work-life balance, great compensation, job security, the employees can contribute their best to the organisation. Ultimately, it's a win-win situation for both the employee and the employer.

in Brazil when we finshed high shcool we have to take a test to be accepted in public universities, which is difficult and very competitive especially for the medical course because of this many students develop disorders such as anxiety, physical and mental exhaustion and panic sydrome

task based pattern is my demand at work to have a work life balance and enjoy my life and spending time with family with out being burning out.

What is the difference between a boss and an employer?
@bbclearningenglish
10 ай бұрын
Often they can have the same / similar meanings, but there are some differences. A boss is generally a person, but an employer can be a person or a company. Your employer is the person or business who hires and pays you, but a boss is more involved in supervising of staff.

Poor Neil and Beth! However, your old jobs may not be glamorous but are necessary for the functioning of society. If you didn't clean the portable toilets, nobody would have clean toilets to use, and Beth, if you didn't waitress in cafes, no one would have anything to eat!

In my previous job I used to have my boss breathing down my neck so I didn’t wait longer to quit
Unfortunately, the company I work for will just throw this in the bin
• Burnout lack of energy • Deadline ultimatum • Breathing down ones neck. Watching closely • Presentism. Staying longer than usual to show you work hard • Work life balance the amount of time you do work than enjoying • Win- win situation good for everyone
Is it correct to use “discuss in”.?
Once i've worked as a salesperson and it was a terrible experience for me considering that i should achieve the high goals and i used to spend all my day at work and at the end of the day i felt exhausted.

anyone can explain for me the meaning of the phrase ''shift away from ''in the video
@learnenglishgoplaces

Here, it means "to move away" from, which, metaphorically means to stop thinking about things in one way and start thinking about things in another way. It's shifting, or moving, from one way of thinking to another way of thinking.
