Ecuador is home to the largest leatherback turtle in the world. These amazing creatures can weigh up to an incredible 907 kilograms and measure over 3 meters in length! Talk about a sight to behold.
Here's a fun fact: Ecuador produces more bananas than any other country in the world. In fact, it accounts for almost 40% of global banana production. So if you love bananas, you can thank Ecuador for your favorite fruit.
Now let's talk about Quito, the capital city of Ecuador that boasts incredibly well-preserved colonial architecture. It's actually one of the largest, least-altered colonial cities in all of Latin America. Quito is also home to Mitad del Mundo - The Middle of the World monument, where you can literally stand with one foot in the northern hemisphere and the other in the southern hemisphere!
