I just don't pick up my small dogs. I hover over them to protect them giving them space and the decision-making power to come out on their own accord. It's how I build up confidence in pups and shelter/street dogs. I let them crawl on me for life when I'm down low, that is. Cool video, though. Most people wouldn't think about this for even a split second then wonder why their dog nipped them when they tried to pick him/her up. Besides, momma wolf only picks them up by the back of the neck to move them around, and they sorta go limp like that which is how I break up dog fights if I can in the moment. I love using their own techniques on them!
Great tips ! I usually support the bottom, that is pick up and holding in my arms for a 25lbs dog. Should I change that ? Thanks.

I do the same, I also always tuck their tail so I don't get butt on my hand 😎
